He was just standing right outside the room, his hand still on the doorknob as he tries to process what just happened. Nearly jumps when you exit the room unbothered. A/n: Idk why i just thought of this while watching a funny genshin vid. Anyway, pain is coming so gl.

It was already nearing midnight in the city of Monstadt and as usual, Kaeya was with his friends drunk in Angel's Share after getting some work done. Of course that included annoying Diluc, talking loudly to the point where the other customers couldn't stand it.

While they were talking loudly, Diluc minded his business by cleaning the wine glasses around, not bothering to listen to their conversation. But what caught his attention was when Kaeya mentioned him, unaware of his loud voice booming around the tavern.

One of the soldiers had asked Kaeya what he thought about Diluc when they saw their dynamic before. Kaeya thought for a moment, taking a sip of his wine before answering. "Well, Diluc's a grumpy man. Always get so mad about my light jokes! Pfft, at least he should laugh at it instead of being all emo!" He says with a cackle, making Diluc roll his eyes at him as he listens quietly.

"So then, why are you two acting like you're at each other's throats?" One of the soldiers asked, and since Kaeya was drunk and had no control over himself, he slips out the secrets he kept from his past.

"Diluc, being the grumpy man he is, got angry with me in the past! Can you believe that? I just told him about where I came from then boom, he..." Kaeya pauses halfway, his playful demeanor disappearing as he remembers his and his brother's fight. "He punched me."

The other soldiers fell silent as they shared expressions. "I should've expected it, I mean who wouldn't be mad at that? It was so out of the blue. But then again...I also expected him to be more...supportive. I am his brother after all but now, he doesn't act like it." Kaeya mutters as he takes another sip.

Diluc, who was still listening, grips the glass tighter, his lips pursing in a thin line as he remembers that day when he and Kaeya became distant from each other as if they were never brothers.

The soldiers coughed awkwardly, finishing their wine and beer before standing up, calling it a day. "I-It was fun drinking with you, sir Kaeya. Uh, we should head home now...goodnight sir." They said as they began leaving, making sure to pay Diluc on the way.

Kaeya didn't hear them though, too drunk to understand his surroundings, and continued on with his story with only him left in the tavern besides Diluc.

Kaeya puts on a bitter smile as he looks at the empty chair across from him as if the soldiers he was with were still there. "Wanna know a secret? When I and Diluc fought, I wished that he'd kill me during that." He says with a bitter laugh, drunkenly taking another sip.

Diluc's eyes widened as he heard that, nearly dropping the wine glass he was holding. He looked at his brother, who was still rambling to the air about his past. He really wished that?! He thought as he watched his brother with sad eyes.

"As much as I love Khaenri'ah, I love Monstadt too, ya know? I didn't want to choose between the two cities I love. I love my friends, the people here...my brother..." The redhead could've sworn that he felt tears coming out of his eyes the more he listened to Kaeya's rambling.

That's when Kaeya began to break. His lips started to tremble and the tears he tried so hard to hold back fell to the wooden table. "I don't know what to do...I just want someone to reassure me...that it'll be all okay. I hate this...I hate this so much." Kaeya hisses under his breath as more tears came out.

With one last sip, Kaeya passed out on the table, his tears drying on his cheekbones.

Silence erupted around the tavern as Diluc was deep in thought. Glancing at his brother once again, he sighed and walked out of the counter to Kaeya. Deciding to be nice to his brother for once, he took his arm and put it around his shoulder, helping him stand up.

Diluc carries Kaeya as he leaves the tavern and brings him back to his house. With a little bit of struggling, he manages to put his brother down on his bed and tuck him in.

All of these actions reminded him of how he used to do that to Kaeya when they were little. The memories made Diluc smile softly and he didn't even try to stop it. As he was about to stand up and leave, he thinks back to what Kaeya said back in the tavern.

"I just want someone to reassure me...that it'll be all okay."

Diluc purses his lips in a thin line and looks back at Kaeya sleeping soundly. Diluc sighs and carefully tries to hug his brother without waking him up all while trying not to cry.

As he hugs him, he whispers, "I'm sorry, my little brother. You're okay. It'll be all okay. Do not worry about the future too much."

Diluc stayed in that position as he lets out quiet sniffles. After a while, he pulls away and leaves Kaeya's house, going back to his own as he lets his brother be at peace.

"Go back to Liyue and send help! Now!" You demand as you try to block another attack with your sword as you try to ignore the pain in your shoulder.

The Traveller looks at you in hesitation. "A-Are you sure? What about you?" You smile at them reassuringly, but that quickly disappeared when you see more treasure hoarders coming your way. "I'll be fine, now go!"

The Traveller hesitated once more before giving in, thinking it'd be best to get some help and let your boyfriend know. Though there's a chance he'd get pissed at them for leaving you behind. They gave you a look as if to say 'be careful' before they ran back to Liyue, trying to not get noticed by the treasure hoarders as they kept attacking.

The Traveller went to Lady Ningguang first, asking her if she could send Millelith guards to your location and explaining the situation to her. Once she agreed to do so, they quickly went to look for Childe.

It didn't take them too long as they immediately spotted him by the entrance of Liuli Pavillion.

"Childe!" The ginger head turned around at his name getting called, looking at the Traveller questioningly. "Hm? Do you need something? Did Zhongli forget to bring mora again?" He asked playfully with a light chuckle.

The Traveller pursed their lips together as they looked at him seriously. "Y/n...they need help, now!"

In an instant, Childe's playful demeanor was gone as he looked at them with a dark gaze. "Where are they?"

You were now laying on top of a mountain with a trail of blood behind you. You had managed to escape the treasure hoarders as you realize you couldn't handle them as they kept increasing.

As you thought you were safe, you heard mechanical movements beside you, making you turn your head in that direction and see a Ruin Guard. You curse under your breath as you didn't realize you were literally right beside a ruin.

The Ruin Guard was about to shoot at you while you, too much in pain to move, you brace for the impact. Until you see a flash of blue and the next you knew is the guard getting sliced in half and exploding. You then see a certain ginger head running towards you and cradling you in his arms.

"Y/n! What the hell were you thinking?! Taking care of those Treasure Hoarders all by yourself?!" Childe shouts at you as he inspects your injuries. "Not my fault I didn't know they were coming after us." You scoff at him before letting out a pained cough.

Childe immediately picks you up and began running back to Liyue where you can get treated. While he was on his way, you were beginning to lose consciousness, barely hearing Childe shouting to stay awake before everything went black.

You groan as you felt pain shoot through you again as you regained consciousness. You slowly open your eyes only to see that you were back in your house, laying on a futon. You had bandages around you as you were now in different clothing.

You began to sit up slowly, only for a hand to push you back down gently. You look beside you and see Childe kneeling down with a cup of water in his hand. The worry and sadness in his eyes were visible and it breaks your heart to see him devastated.

"You need to rest for a few days so you can heal. Your ribs and leg are literally broken, Y/n." He stated as he helps you drink water before setting it down.

Childe lets out a sigh and looks at you with his eyebrow arched and tears welling up in his eyes. "You were unconscious for 3 days." Your eyes widened at that but you took notice of how his voice wavered a little. "I-I thought you were gone...I even let out my anger at those damn Treasure Hoarders near the harbor."

Childe's voice began to crack as he spoke, the fear of losing you was all in his thoughts. You look at him sadly and tried your best to raise a hand up to his cheek. He immediately looks at you as he felt something warm against him and leans into your hold while putting a hand atop of yours.

"I'm still here, don't worry, Ajax." You reassure him as you send him a smile. "I'm alright as long you are."

Childe's lips began to tremble before he let the tears fall. This was the first time he let out his negative emotions at you and you were glad he finally decided to open up to you. He goes to carefully hug you but his grip was still tight as if you were going to disappear if he lets go. He would always freak out whenever he loses them, ended up scaring Sucrose, and lets out an audible sigh of relief when he finds them again. He hopes that you also treasure the ones he gave you.

Scaramouche loves giving and receiving hugs. He may not look like it, but he yearns for hugs as it gives him comfort. He doesn't admit it but you could read him like a book and that makes you hug him tighter. There are times that he would find the courage to pull you in a hug as he buried his face into your hair/chest to hide the blush. Childe caught you two one time and teased Scaramouche all week. Scaramouche ended up kicking him in the face a bunch of times.

"My, my, talking about Secretary Y/n now, huh?" The 2 knights froze in their spot when they heard the captain's voice.

"C-Captain Kaeya! Sir!" The 2 knights spun around and saluted at the captain while Kaeya only kept smiling at the two with his eye closed. It may seem like Kaeya didn't care but he did. The way his smirk was twitching as if it was about to break into a snarl.

"Don't you think that bad-mouthing a superior can get you fired, no?" Kaeya spoke smoothly and the knights shivered at his cold tone behind his smirk. The captain's eye opens and his eye spoke a lot more than his expression. His hardened, threatening gaze nearly made the knight cower in fear.

Kaeya lets out a dry chuckle and pats both of the knights' shoulders, making them flinch. "Get back to work, why don't ya? Instead of slacking around when it's not even your break time yet." He demands in a stern voice, making the knights quickly obey as they ran back to the headquarters.

But before they could get inside, Kaeya shouts out to them. "Talk about Y/n one more time and you're losing your job!"

As soon as the knights disappeared out of his sight, Kaeya drops his smirk and continued walking down the stairs, his plans of getting drunk are now gone as he just walks around Monstadt looking for you.

Soon enough, he spots you at Good Hunter with the Lisa and the Traveller. The captain walks over to your table and Lisa was first to notice as she nudges you.

You looked at her confused until you felt a hand land on your shoulder and heard the voice of your lover behind you.

"Having lunch without me, are we?" Kaeya teasingly says as he takes a seat beside you, still holding your hand. "Kaeya? What are you doing here? Don't you still have to finish that paperwork?" You ask him, taking notice of how he was gripping your hand tight.

"It's my break. I'll get back to it after 15 minutes." He tells you with a smile and you know full well that it's a forced one. "Well, what have you been up to?"

"Oh, me and Lisa just finished helping the Traveller take down an Abyss Mage. We just came back a minute ago so we could take a rest. We'll be leaving again soon though to visit Liyue." You explained to him.

You stare at him in concern as he didn't respond to you, only looking at you in the eyes with a soft expression on his face. "Are you alright? You've been acting weird since you got here."

Kaeya shakes his head and pulls you into a hug, not caring if there are people around. "Nothing. You're just perfect, you know?" He mumbles into your neck, his grip tightening slightly as he thought about what happened earlier.

You blush at his words and slowly hug him back, a small smile making its way up to your face.

"Get a room, you two!" You hear Paimon complain, making you giggle. Kaeya ignored Paimon as he just continued whispering praises into your ear while keeping you in his arms. All the lovey-dovey made the Traveller and Lisa leave your table and eat somewhere else.

Childe had just arrived back in Snezhnaya after clearing out the treasure hoarders that camped around the area. As he was heading back home, he heard some Fatui Agents talking.

As he was about to scold them for not patrolling the land, he stopped in his tracks when they mentioned your name with such bitterness in their voice.

"I heard that Y/n got injured during a mission. Such a weakling. Why are they even working with us when they can barely defeat a slime?"

"I know right, so embarrassing. Poor Childe having to deal with such clumsy s/o."

"Sometimes I wonder how they're even dating."

All while the agents were babbling bad things about you, Childe was clenching his fists hard at the way they were talking about.

It's not rare for you to get talked bad like this. In their eyes, you were weak, hopeless. You would always come back with severe injuries and others would immediately think that you were too cowardly to defeat a simple opponent.

In Childe's eyes though, you were strong and hardworking. He thought that you come back with injuries because you were doing your best to defend the Fatui. The others who thought otherwise are just foolish and blind.

As much as he's worried about you because you're injured, he can't just let them go away with it without a painful punishment.

Through gritted teeth, he stepped out of the shadows and came up behind the agents with a menacing aura.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" The agents freeze in fear at the sound of their boss' dark voice. When they turned around they were met with a cold glare.

"Honestly, it's hurting my ears about how much shit-talking I've heard for my s/o. Do you think that you'll get away with it just like that?" Childe speaks as he steps closer to the agents only for them to back away.

Childe began to crack his knuckles all while keeping his hard glare at the three. "How about a little beating to teach you a lesson?"

"Honestly, what were you thinking? I could've handled it on my own." Signora sighs as she stood beside your bed, shaking her head at the sight of your bandaged arm and neck.

You sheepishly chuckle at her, slightly wincing at the pain in your throat. "Aww, worried about me?" You managed to tease at her, only for her to smack your head lightly.

Signora sighs once again before heading towards the door. "I'll go get Childe. Stay there or else I'll throw your ass off the building." She says before leaving the room.

You take a deep breath and closed your eyes, wanting to rest badly already. Your eyes open again at the sound of the door opening, looking to see your boyfriend walking towards you with a worried gaze.

"Hey, you doing alright?" He asks as he crouches down beside your bed, cradling your cheek softly. You hum in response and saw that his gloves were bloody. Some on his face. You instantly knew what happened.

"They talked about me again, didn't they?" You ask, looking at Childe in the eyes for an answer. He sighs heavily and shakes his head. "That doesn't matter. Your neck is injured you shouldn't be talking." He changes the subject as he gently pushes your head down to rest.

"I told you to ignore them, Ajax. I really don't mind it." You tell him and he looks at you dejectedly. "Well, I do. I don't want you to change yourself because of them. I don't want to lose you because of them." He says through gritted teeth.

You sigh and cradled his cheek, running your thumb across his cheekbone. "I promise you, I'll be fine. Those stupid words don't affect me. Just promise me that the next time you heard them talk about me, control yourself, kay?"

Childe looks at you hesitantly, almost wanting to refuse. But, for the sake of your happiness, he lets out a heavy sigh and nods. "I promise."

A smirk immediately appears on Childe's face when he heard you say those words. Despite the obvious blush on his cheeks, he still managed to act cool. He's more gentle with you and looks at you with a soft gaze as he holds your hand up to his lips to give it a kiss.

Though Zhongli was quite surprised when you said that, he immediately calms down and gives you a soft smile. He would hold your hand gently, and stare at your beautiful eyes for a moment before he leans in to give you a soft kiss on the lips, all while he was smiling.

It will take a lot of convincing before he realizes you were telling the truth. A blush would appear and he doesn't know how to stop them. For the first time, his gaze softens as he looks at you and tries to give you a smile, trying to show that he was thankful for your love.

"I feel the same...but I fear that I would hurt you and I simply don't think I could heal from that if I ever do so. Tell me...why do you love me?"
