Not to post in the tags twice in a day, but I'm thinking about doing a series of Arkhamverse Riddler sitting at various stages (aka each game).

These are my loose plans for Origins and Asylum. Should I go with this/continue? 🤔

+Riddler animation: 'Puzzed' (gif version) [link: video version] A silly idea I had a year or so ago while watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966). The "he puzzled and puzzed til his puzzler was sore" quote just seemed like such a funny Riddler line. Decided to finally animate it as a way to test some character design style ideas I was playing with (went with a BTAS-inspired design here), to troubleshoot any potential animation issues.

Ended up using this also as a testground for my lining, coloring, and shading workflow. I went with a kind of simple noir palette to keep things simpler and, overall, I think it turned out nice :) [Animated in OpenToonz, backgrounds made in Clip Studio Paint]

I like to believe Crane being generally polite to Harley during Batman’s hallucination in Arkham asylum means that between Arkham shadow and Arkham asylum after they both lost it Crane and Harley decided ‘water under the bridge we’re the smartest ones here.’ And became friends.

Oracle on Jonathan Crane

Dr. Cranes early years in pre-med were unremarkable, but as a postdoc he really came into his own. Turns out people notice when you fire a live round in a classroom to illustrate a point about fear. he would have been fired if he hadn't been so brilliant at securing what every university needs, funding.

In the end, he was a subject of a bidding war between institutes resulting in a handsome offer.

An offer he turned down to take Huge Strange's position of director of rehabilitation at Blackgate. "it was" He said in his acceptance letter "The perfect place to shine a light on humanity's darkest depths. Or maybe he just enjoyed the hearty combo of endless test subjects and little oversight.

His published research at Blackgate focuses on the Jungian concept of the Shadow. The subconscious ID held in check by the Ego. By doing Shadow work you can integrate the ID and the Ego and become a more fully realized individual.

That's the theory, at least. If you ask me though, Dr. Crane's less about Shadow work and more about making people jump at their own shadows.
