V for Vendetta
V for Vendetta
Danny Modir Rahmati 2021-06-10
V for Vendetta was a very different and unique movie because I don't enjoy watching political movies because you want to enjoy and have fun watching a movie, so if I want to watch something political, I would much rather watch the news or a documentary, and I would be much more educated because some political movies are fictional, while others are not, and they are based on true events. V for Vendetta was about a masked guy who planted two bombs in London to gain power and gain people on his side, but while doing so, V saved a woman who was also known as the guy wearing a mask, and Evey learns a lot about V during this time and helps V with his plan and discovers major things about her. V attempted to raise awareness of the corrupt government system by employing various strategies such as terrorist tactics, fighting country officials, and protesting with people on the streets of London.
V was an intriguing film to watch because it demonstrated how people are involved in politics and care about their country, and they are willing to support V, a person whose identity has been concealed for so long that no one knows who's face is behind the mask, but the strange thing is that no one, except government officials, has ever attempted to remove his mask. The theme of the film is "freedoms and relationships," as it depicts V's quest for freedom as well as the formation of relationships with his people, including those who used to oppose him. V also described himself as an anarchist, which I agree with because he was always attempting to inform the public about what they needed to know. how corrupt the system is and how he can fix it by "bombing" famous buildings, but in the end, V goes for an attack and threatens the government propaganda broadcasting station that he will detonate the bomb and people will die, but V dies in Evey's hands because he was shot and escaped after being shot. The film was shot in London, England, and Potsdam, Germany, which I had no idea was filmed in Germany until now. The movie's symbol depicts V as Vendetta because of his past and desire for vengeance, which is where the conflict arises; the film’s main conflict is between V and the government, which is person vs society. Last but not least I believe V for Vendetta had a lot of genres compared to other movies I watched in the past, some of the genres I could discuss are, politics, action, drama, mystery, which is pretty self-explanatory the movie was about politics. The second genre I am going to discuss is action, the movie had a lot of action scenes for example all of the fighting and threats made against the government. For mystery, the story of V was a mystery, even Evey was trying to find how why was V was like this, always against the government, anti-democratic.
Thus far, everything that has been said demonstrates that the film was very meaningful and had a powerful message for the audience, demonstrating that anything is possible only if you risk your life to achieve your goals. As of now, I've changed my mind about V after discussing the elements and how the film was dedicated to its subject. I would recommend this film to anyone who is interested in politics because it shows a different aspect of his work and how V was dealing with his problems. I would rate this movie a solid 8 because it had a lot of details and really explained everything and did not miss huge stories from the past or the future. I also watched V two times once in grade 10 ( civics) and once in grade 11 for the blog. I really enjoyed it.

Contagion
Danny Modir Rahmati 2021-06-06
The movie contagion is very similar to what is happening in the current time because as I am typing this, there is a pandemic in our beautiful world and thousands of people are getting infected and killed at the same time, it sucks to see this but it is reality. The movie contagion is about a virus spreading all around the world by simply touching your face, a vaccine was developed but many people went on a riot to be the first to get the vaccine, which if you compare that in today's world, the exact opposite is happening, there are people who say the vaccine is bad you should not take it, you should just live off without the vaccine, and they only think about the consequences, not the benefit of vaccine, at the end of the movie everyone was vaccinated.
The mood of the story connects to our current time as said because there is a pandemic right now, but we are close to the end of the pandemic because our scientists have developed the right vaccine for our people and we just need to be vaccinated. I believe that the movie demonstrates the pandemic really well because it shows each stage of how people are dealing and panicking and how far are people going to get vaccinated, but as said in our world there are people who are “anti-vaccine” meaning they are against vaccines. The connections I could make with the movie are the mood and what is happening. As far as the scenery goes the filming production was kinda poor because some angels were odd. Maybe I watch much more “premium” movies but we have to understand that the movie is from 2011.
The plot of the story makes a lot of sense to me of how people were reacting and went crazy on certain restrictions that were made due to the virus, which is normal I guess considering the majority of the people do not like to be isolated, they want to be free and have freedom but in some situations, people take it to the next level. Everyone might have a different opinion or point of view on this movie but this is my personal opinion. The settings of the movie were very different in some scenes. I believe some shots were filmed in different countries like the UK, USA, China and maybe more. This shows the directors and filmmakers were very determined to make the movie different for almost every scene.
Overall, I enjoyed the film; I have many parallels with it, such as the pandemic, the isolation vaccine, and so on. The movie was a little long; there were some scenes that could have been cut or made shorter, such as when the five people were discussing the outcome of the pandemic and how it might affect them; I noticed that the woman writing on the board slowed that scene down. because she lacks the superpowers to write so quickly, but that is just one example I would recommend this movie to anyone because, in my opinion, it did not contain any inappropriate scenes, and I would give it a solid 7 because, With fewer action scenes than Mayhem/Beyham, the director did well. The only scene with some action was when the doctor was kidnapped because she was nearing the completion of the vaccine.

Parasite
Parasite
Danny Modir Rahmati 2021-06-05
The movie starts off with the family eating at their usual gathering place, on their dinner table, which is an iconic scene in every family movie. The movie goes on with a boy looking to tutor someone rich to make money, his friend recommending someone to tutor a rich family. When he walked to the house, he was shocked by how big and luxurious the house looked because he was from a lower-class family, but the family he was tutoring was from a much upper-class family, meaning they are much wealthier.
The word parasite means an organism that lives in another organism and uses its nutrients to feed themselves and cover their expenses. The connection between the word parasite and the movie parasite is unbelievable. Both families, Kim and Se’s family worked in the park’s family and used them for their own benefits, for example, Choong-Sook brought his husband to live in the bunker in the parks house without him noticing, the reason why the parks were not aware of this situation, the reason for this occurrence is when the real estate that sold this house, did not tell them about the bunker under his house, because crimes unpleasant things happened there. The first family that lived there was Se and his wife, Se lived there for 4 years without leaving the bunker. After that, a new family discovered how rich Park’s family is and decided to get the current worker in trouble by sprinkling peach skin on her without her noticing. She was allergic to peach skin, so they did that to expose her weakness and force her to resign so that every member of the Kim family can work here and possibly earn an annual salary. Which everything went as planned except one thing which was when Se’s wife was fired she came back to feed his husband who has been living there for the past 4 years, but the Kim family were enjoying a nice meal in Park’s house while they were gone and they Kim’s let Se’s wife in which it was the worst decision they ever made, not only Se’s wife discovered the workers in Park’s house were one family but she also took a video of them and threatening the Kim’s that she will “expose” this to the parks, so in exchange, she said they have to feed his husband once a week and provide any necessities for him, but things did not go well again, because Se’s wife was trying to leave but she was unaware of the Park’s have arrived so Mr. Kim's wife was making a special meal for the parks and when Se’s wife tried to walk upstairs from the bunker Mr. Kim’s wife pushed her down and she suffered major pains from the head and died there. After this, She discovered her wife died so he thought about to go and kill every single member of the Kim family to avenge her wife, but in that day, it was Park’s youngest son’s birthday, but Se did not know minutes before the birthday, Kim’s son tried to make the future easier for them by going down to the underground bunker and kill Se with a very big stone he had, he manages to fail to kill Se, instead Se knocks him out with the rock and goes for a mass killing and killed Parks wife and Kim’s wife killed Se, Mr. Kim killed Mr. Park and Mr. Kim lived in the underground bunker for weeks and wrote letters for his son with the lights as a signal.
The most unrealistic thing that happened in the movie was when Se smashed Kim’s son's head with a rock and survived with minor injuries, that was the most unrealistic thing I have ever seen because a small hit to your head could send you to ER and leave you severe injuries. I believe one thing that was very important in this movie was the smell of Mr. Kim, he was so bothered when Mr. Park said he smells rotten and weird and cheap like a peasant. The scenery and everything else was very professional, especially when they filmed in the bunker and the angels were shown in the movie from the big house (Park’s Family's house). I also believe the movie had a hidden message of “ Don’t think you are the only one trying to use others, others are way ahead of you.” This is not a real quote but I just thought it would connect to the hidden message of the movie. The mood of the story was always ominous because as soon as something good happened, 10 times worse would happen, they could not spend quality time with each other.
Overall it was a great movie. I really enjoyed watching it. I watched it two times, once in class and once after just to catch the little information and enjoy it more. I would recommend this movie to any teenager, and has some 18+ scenes, but it is not as detailed. I would rate this movie a solid 7.5 because as said the rock scene made 0 sense, he was not even paralyzed or anything.

Hotel Rwanda
Hotel Rwanda was about a genocide that occurred in Rwanda. You may wonder what genocide is and whether it refers to the act of killing a large number of ethnic people in order to eliminate their country, group, or life. In Hotel Rwanda the two ethnic groups, Hutus and Tutsi go on for years killing each other until one takes over the country and orders to kill one nation and that one nation is no other than Hutus or Tutsi, but it all depends on which one of them wins.
The movie was mainly about genocide. Hundreds of thousands of people were getting killed every day for being Hutus or Tutsi which is sad because you can’t control what your background was. The Tutsis were much more aggressive than the Hutus, Hutus people did not really defend themselves from the Tutsis they all were dependent on the government and the officials from the other countries because the officials from Rwanda did not have enough power to stop their own people, whenever someone became the president they would die within a year or so.
Genocide is the main problem in Hotel Rwanda because the movie is heavily focused on the aspects of genocide and how it affected a whole nation to start a civil war. As said the movie is mainly focused on genocide and the united nations, the UN was a big part of this movie, the UN helped a lot of people by giving orders to both groups and deploying troops from all around the world to help out the innocent people who are getting killed for their ethnicity. Over hundreds of thousands of people were killed in the act of genocide, but the Tutsi were more aggressive because they wanted to have control over Rwanda but the Hutus wanted to make peace and share the land with Tutsi’s, both groups had their own ideology of how should’ve work which that created conflict between the two groups and both wanted to show each other who is stronger.
As far as scenery goes, they are amazing and the film producers and the other teams that helped to make this movie, they all did a great job, I don’t see any problem in the sceneries except, close to the ending of the movie when Paul and his wife found her supposed “lost child” in the field, the camera angles were filmed very poorly and it was being moved very unnecessarily. They could’ve used better camera angles and moved it slowly to show the area instead of just one place.
Overall, I really enjoyed watching the movie. It was a great experience to be able to watch it. I would put this movie in my top 5 favourite movies of all time because I liked the story and how detailed the movie was. They showed everything from the shootings and how genocide was dealt with in Rwanda, how the UN helped the innocent people. I would recommend this movie to any teenager and people who like political movies. I would rate this movie 4.5/5.

The Island Review By Danny
The Island Review
Rated 3.5/5
I was very skeptical about the storyline of the movie, because of the fact the people were living on that island and without complaining until Lincoln Echo Six and Jordan Two Delta faced this situation. This was probably happening will over 10 years or so. I watched half of the movie on Google Meet and I could not enjoy the movie because of the quality so I had to watch it again and that is what I did. I watched the movie again the day after we watched “The Island”. I was surprised when they escaped the island successfully but they had to go through some “fights” until they escape butt halfway through they changed their minds and they decided to rescue everyone from that Island.
One interesting thing about Lincoln Echo Six is, he is smart because when they were being served breakfast, he was complaining and asking why he could not get bacon instead of almond. That creates a story and makes Lincoln Echo Six want to discover the undiscovered part of the island, the hidden part, where the true secrets, what is being hidden from them. That is what exactly he and her supposed friend, Jordan Two Delta do together. They escaped the island together. They were being chased by Vehicles, hovercycles, helicopters, motors and special agents. As they were escaping they came across stuff that they have never seen before, like a bar, houses, clothes and much more.
Lincoln Echo Six and Jordan Two Delta become very close friends halfway through their journey and they created a relationship but they did not know how to approach each other because they never had a friendship or anything close to a relationship on the Island. But at the end of the movie or close to the end of the movie they had their first kiss and that was a very romantic scene but it wasn’t as romantic as real romantic themed movies but it was good, plus the audience has to understand that these people in the island are educated to the level of a 15-year old that means they are not that smart compared to their age, but still they manage to have a healthy friendship together.
As far as the scenery goes I don’t see an issue to complain about except the movement of the camera during the explosions and some other camera angles. They could’ve shown Lincoln Echo Six walking down the stairs with pieces of comedy music or a piece of serious music depending on the line he uses. For example, Lincoln Echo Six walking downstairs with his new suit with a piece of serious music and he says “I’m ready” or “let us go finish what should have been finished many years ago” or “Let’s get down to business”. It would have been cool or funny if they used one of these lines instead of him just walking down the stairs. Other than that I think the movie was great and had a unique storyline and plot. It was a cool experience watching it. As far as the mood goes it was calm in the beginning and cheerful at the end and romantic in the middle.
Overall “The Island” was a good movie and I enjoyed watching it even though it was two hours long, it was worth watching it because every movie can be enjoyable for anyone. The movie was very entertaining because the action and how the characters performed were really good. I would recommend this movie to every teenager or person who likes action movies or a lot of mayhem in a movie because the director’s name is bay and they made a nickname for him mayhem, Bayhem, which very funny because mayhem means violent. I would rate this movie 3.5/5 because it was long and some scenes could’ve to be performed better and they could’ve used different lines and dialogue.
