I knew it... there's always that one troll under the bridge. Normal things.
[His eyes immediately light up and he snags the lunchbox, carefully opening it.] How did you know I wanted sushi?! [It's his favourite - a comfort food. But he scrunches his nose up at cheese.] No cheese, but I'll definitely take the rest. You eat the cheese.
Oh, you know. The usual one. Lives under a bridge, can't answer the riddle and they block your road home. Normal things up in the mountains. Normal things. [ Aleks smiles, passing his lunchbox to Mathias. ] Had to keep it cold, I think you'd prefer your sushi as it's supposed to be eaten. [ He hangs up his jacket and unlaces his boots, unruly blonde hair trying to escape its bun ] There are also crackers, cheese, and smoked salmon. I remembered you were running low.

I did not, some angry mountain decided to throw part of a glacier on the road, so I had to take the long way home. I brought dinner, though.
That's...something. [He sips his tea, tipping his head to the side.] What troll did you enrage for them to up and decide to fling a glacier... ice...thing...into the road? [He sets his mug aside and leans forward] Gimmie. What's for dinner?

Aleks is carrying a tray into their bedroom, full of the Dana’s favorite things: coffee, kanelsnegl from his favorite shop, lingonberries from the patch in the woods, and fresh salmon to boot. Setting it on their dresser, the Norwegian eases himself to sit on the edge of the bed, curling his fingers through his husband’s hair. “Mathias,” he murmured sweetly, thumb brushing his cheek. “Happy birthday, darling.”
Mathias stretches with a low hum and blinks as he feels soft fingers in his hair. "It's my birthday?" He mumbles, rolling over and pressing his face into Aleksander's hip, exhaling out slowly, quietly. "That's so nice..."

“Hey. Hey. I haven’t caught the kitchen on fire in two years. I’ll have her supervise.” Aleks just tweaks Mathias’ nose affectionately, leaning his forearm on the island. It meant a lot that Matti made him a little cake, even if Mathias thought nothing of it. “Mm, I did. Been busier than I wanted.” Which, of course he was.
Mathias only hummed suspiciously, watching Aleksander for a moment before wriggling his nose. “Yeah, well I woke up and you weren’t here. So. Gave me time to clean and bake.” He yawned. “But what did you want for dinner? It’s your choice, birthday. We can go out, I can make you something?”

Aleks of course let Mathias’ leg down, giving his husband’s knee a gentle squeeze and the man himself an apologetic smile. “You always try your best.” Even if Mathias doesn’t need to. He pecked the blonde on the cheek, “You know you didn’t have to make me anything.”
“Shut! The up fuck. Fuck up. Whatever.” Mathias waved his hand, massaging his calf gently. “Of course I did. It’s your birthday. And you know you’ll do the same for me in three weeks. But maybe ask Lilli to bake the cake. You may set my oven on fire again.” He shrugged and then beamed a warm smile. “Didja have a good day, though?”

“… You married me of all people, what did you expect?” But, Aleks grabs the glass sitting on the edge of the table. “There. Does that help at all?”
“Nah, you’re not why it isn’t stable.” He watches him move the glass, clicks his tongue, and nods. “Yes. Better. Slightly.”

“You get sleepy at dusk?” Jordan rolls onto her tummy to give Mathias a puzzled look. She knows that her sleep schedule is ruined and that most people don’t start their days at twilight, but surely he’s just as much of a freak if he’s getting ready for bed just because the sun is setting. Is this what marriage does to a person?
“I’m referencing my own brain. My creativity is boundless. Some might even say I’m a poet, undiscovered, unappreciated. My works will be published upon my sudden, tragic death and I will be known to the world post-mortem as an unparalleled master of the written word.” Jordan pauses, so that her great speech can settle in. “Also, it’s from a video game.”
“Yeah,” Mathias hums, cocking his head to the side. “I don’t go to bed at dusk, I just tend to start winding down. I take a run usually around fiveish? Come back, make dinner...and wind up on the couch for the rest of the night.” He gives another small shrug, wringing his wrists and cocks an eyebrow. Oh? “...Well. Explains I don’t know about it.” Mathias laughs. “I don’t really play a lot of video games-- but, clearly your brain is onto something.” He simply shakes his head. He won’t tell Jordan that her creative mind was bad or anything; it wasn’t-- he was glad to hear her talk. “Clearly you’re a master of the English written word.”

Aw, Mathias’ little snort was so cute. Aleks laughed, leaning his forearms on the shopping cart. “Fresh from the garden of absolutely horrific puns slash compliments. I just wanted to make you smile, that’s all.”
Aleks’ brows furrowed for a moment, leaning close to Mathias’ face. “Hold still, you have an eyelash on your cheek.” Lifting his hand, Aleks gently swiped the offending eyelash from Matti’s freckled cheek. “Carry on.”
Mathias leaned back slightly, blinking rapidly as his husband swiped whatever was on his cheek away. He had made a weird noise in the back of his throat before cocking his head at his husband. “I always smile.” He made a gesture. “C’mon babe, let’s hurry along. I wanna get home and get cookin’.”

"We did well." Lilli doesn't know where Aleks and Mikael have run off to and for the moment she doesn't care. For the first time today, both she and Mathias can relax in peace. There is nothing but the sounds of satisfied sighs and the soft dinner party music drifting in the background. Lilli stretches her legs out across Mathias' lap while swirling her wine in her glass. She flexes her toes, now free from the confines of her heels and takes a sip. "We did really, really well."
He’s half asleep on the couch, whether it be from a food coma or having slaved over a hot stove for however long, Mathias is pooped. And content to just lay on the couch, hand gently on Lilli’s calves, rubbing gently. “Mmm. You did really well. I just followed by your lead and by your example.”

@danmarks-styrke || Starter Call
Honestly, this time of day should be considered a liminal space. That period just as twilight strikes when you’re never sure if it’s dark enough to turn the lights on, or if the natural light is still enough. Jordan lays on the outdoor couch, holding her phone above her face, with her feet resting against the wall. Desperate to fill the silence before she goes insane, Jordan looks at Mathias upside down.
“Tell me…Do you ever feel a strange sadness as dusk falls? They say it’s the only time when our world intersects with theirs…The only time we can feel the lingering regrets of spirits who have left our world.” The words come out like she’s reciting a script, because that’s exactly what she’s doing.
The Dane had been content to sit in silence, fiddling with his phone for a little bit. The silence, while not always his favourite thing, was calming and Mathias was taking the lack of anything going on as a chance to recharge. Even someone as extroverted as Mathias needed some silence now and again. But he preferred silent company and Jordan was providing that. Oh. Well. She had been? Mathias tilts his head back to blink ice blue eyes at Jordan. “Hmmm? A strange sadness? No... I... don’t. I just sorta get sleepy? Ready to wind down the day.” His face scrunches up. What the hell. “Jordan...what are you referencing? Saying? I’m confused as to where this came from.” He doesn’t have the movie knowledge for this.

“Alright.” Hanging out was easy enough. It was quite possibly the easiest thing in the planet. Aleks gazed around the little produce section, smiling a bit to himself.
“Hey, Matti,” He started, tilting his head to the side. “If you were a vegetable, I bet you’d be a cute-cumber.”
“Hmmm?” Mathias hummed, picking up some more vegetables and looking them over before bagging them and slipping them into their cart. He put his full attention on Aleks. “What’s up?” ...Oh. That was. That was bad. “A...cute-cumber?” Mathias snorted, covering his mouth with his hand. “Where’d ya get that one?”

Aleks just followed behind Mathias, pushing the cart and doing his best to not accidentally run into the back of his legs. He could only read about half of the list, and it was a decent length for a shopping list. “Seems like the best place,” he murmured.
Matti looked comfy, and tired. “Is there anything you want me to grab? I can just push the cart around otherwise.”
“Huh?” Mathias glanced over at his husband and blinked, hand holding a bulb of fennel. He glanced down at it, bagged it, and tossed it in the cart. “Nah, just hang here. This shouldn’t honestly take too terribly long. It’s just a lot of grabbing fresh things and finding substitutes if need be.”

The grocery list was handed off to Mathias while Aleks had the cart, the Norwegian leaned over slightly to keep one hand on it at all times.
They were tasked with picking up things to bring to dinner, or to make for dinner. Aleks had only caught snippets of the conversation with Lilli, and honestly he was just here to hang out with Matti. With the spring melt, Aleks had been working a lot more and hadn’t been able to spend as much time with Mathias as he usually liked to.
“So,” he started, sitting their grocery bags in the baby seat. “What’s on the list?”
Mathias groaned, leaning on the cart as he scanned the list of groceries that were scribbled in an amalgamation of Mathias’ and Lilli’s handwriting on the paper. “Mmm. Lotsa shit. Let’s start in produce.” He pushed himself off the cart, wearing nothing more than athletic wear and looking like someone who definitely probably didn’t know what they were doing in the kitchen. “Fresh is best and all that.” Mathias hummed, glancing at the list and grabbing some frisé and some leeks.
