WIP Wednesday

No one tagged me I’m just chomping at the bit to post the next bit so here’s the start of the next chapter 💛

Laughing. I can’t stop laughing. It’s not that there’s anything particularly funny about the situation. It’s more like I have an overflow of joy, insisting on making itself known by bubbling out of me.

“Well, hello there,” Peeta whispers, wrapping his arms around mine. I’m still holding the baby, he’s just supporting me. His chin rests on my shoulder so he can peer around me at the baby. “It is so nice to meet you, little one.”

Her screams quiet at the sound of his voice, but only slightly.

“It’s alright,” I soothe. “Now, really, Miss Mellark. There’s no need to cry. Your mama and daddy have got you.”

I feel a couple heavy tears fall onto my shoulder. I shoot Peeta a playful, exasperated look.

“Not you too,” I tease. He plants a long kiss on my shoulder then goes back to looking at our daughter.

A woman has a baby and people immediately start asking her about the next one 😡😡 (also I think it'll be easier because I don't have to worry about all of the first time pregnancy stuff)(and Katniss herself says carrying him is a bit easier)(and also shhhhhh we're not there yet let Katniss and I both revel in the newborn bliss)

Ugh queen I adore your writing, reading it’s like my guilty pleasure. Your atmosphere-building is so strong (dialogue between K and P is SO spot on and never boring, always intriguing) & I genuinely think of your telling of events post mockingjay as canon.

Someone’s probably asked this before, but how far are you planning to write their journey (I think up and until epilogue I feel like you’ve said before?) Also, would you ever consider going back and writing like mini-fics of K and P in their younger days (before kids?) Sorry this is a lot lol but you’re amazing keep doing what you do!

I’m planning to continue the series through either the epilogue or possibly toastbaby boy’s first day of school (bc I might want more time with the little guy 🥹). I haven’t officially decided how I’m splitting up those years yet but expect 2-3 more multi chapter fics!

And I’ll definitely still be jumping around and doing prompts on here/one shots on ao3 with more of their early years. I love the toasties but I also really love me some early everlark so I never mind going back and filling in any gaps there

Hi, I was wondering if you knew of any fics that are similiar to Damage by

quothme or Sing You Back Home by thesweetnessofspring, basically a different spin on the post Mockingjay growing back together period. Damages is obviously completely different and in Sing You Back Home, Peeta doesn't return to 12 after the war. Are there any fics in the same vein?

i figured you wouldn't but THANK YOU for not making peeta have any sort of violent flashback towards katniss. i get sooo uncomfortable when i read a fic and he hurts her during one ESPECIALLY when she's pregnant and it's brushed off as nbd.

Yeah we’re not doing that around here 💛 I refuse to believe that Peeta would allow himself around Katniss if he still had violent tendencies or that Katniss would choose to spend a life with him and feel safe enough to have children if he hurt her even once. They’ve got trauma to work through for sure but especially with Peeta’s abusive background I can’t believe he’d hurt her

Hey, just wanna say I love how you write healthy everlark even if they're fucked up. That damaged people can still be happy coz they chose it and fight for it.

And I hope that the butcher's children can get out of their parents toxicity. May belle is so lucky to be a single grandchild.
