In the years since, we've been to worlds almost without number, from the sweet shores of Confection to the watery wonders of Belyyreka and everywhere in-between. But most of us have never forgotten Nancy Wolcott, the first wayward child whose tale we followed, and which went to stillness with Nancy herself, when she returned to her calling as a living statue in the Halls of the Dead.

Now the Halls are in danger, and Nancy is coming home to save the world she chose and the people she loves, but there and at the school.

tumblr is, if anything, the Appalachia of social media...easy to get lost, sparsely populated, out of the loop with fast-moving modern trends. Attached to tradition. Close-knit communities. Believe in "talk shit, get hit." Everyone is doing their own thing in their own obscure little holler. Prone to pulling the most inventive turns of phrase you've ever heard out of nowhere. Somebody's always starting a racket. We sometimes repel outsiders with much aggression. Lots of talk about hell and damnation to be found. Everybody tends to forget about us for some reason

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.

then they started fighting Covid precautions.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.

now my parents think climate change is a myth.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.

then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.

now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.

easter sucks i don’t think we should have widespread christianity events permeating our neighborhoods. however, i like that somehow this became a rabbit-centric time of the year. i propose we overturn easter and replace it with a celebration of bunny girls. give it to the trans furries. they can like, graze on fields of grass and do freak sex stuff or whatever. let’s go lesbians

Oh my god Wisconsin's governor just used a line item veto to secure school funding increases every year through 2425. He struck out a line so it now reads "through the 2023-2425 school year". He's allowed to do this lol
