“Drop out of it, then. I almost had to do that when I had Tono and I wish I would have. You’re more important than any film.” She’d never had an easy time of it when it came to pregnancy, but the very idea made her excited.
“I’m here for you every step of the way.”
“Drop out of Deception? Give up the chance to work with Claude again, and not to mention Paul? Never!” Bette laughed at the thought of it, shaking her head. “I’ll have to take it easy, of course, but I am not a quitter. Especially where Claude Rains is concerned.” she joked with a grin. “Thank you, darling.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” she exclaimed, hurrying back into the other room and trying to fight the grin that was making its way onto her face.
“Congratulations, darling!”
Bette stared blankly in confusion for a few moments until Mary congratulated her, and her eyes widened in realization. “Oh--that--thanks.” she answered half-heartedly with with a grin. “I only just found out. Only thing is, it’s going to make shooting this picture a hell of a lot harder.”

Note
"You keep the aspirin in the bathroom, don't you? I'll go find it myself, it's no problem." She nodded at Bette and gave her a small smile as she got up. "Thanks!" Mary called from the bathroom, but her demeanor changed a minute later as she noticed the small object sitting below the medicine cabinet. "Fuck!"-mxryastor (she is in shock omg)
Bette waved nonchalantly and flipped through her newspaper, only looking up when her friend yelled out an expletive. “Mary, what is it?” She turned around and stood up, concerned. “Are you alright in there?”
