Portsmouth police log: June 21-22
7:30 a.m.: Caller asked for someone to be removed from the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge trestle where he was fishing, but he was gone when police arrived.
7:46 a.m.: Caller reported a woman sleeping in a Lafayette Road parking lot and police determined she was resting while delivering newspapers.
7:58 a.m.: Found license returned to owner.
8:18 a.m.: Arrested Craig Sprowl, 40, of 128 Milton Road #6, Rochester, on charges alleging theft of services and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
9:19 a.m.: Ledgewood Road caller reported a registered sex offender staying in the area with a girlfriend and said they would call again when he returns.
9:35 a.m.: Responded to Market Square where a hypodermic needle was found in a restaurant bathroom. Police disposed of it properly.
9:58 a.m.: Animal officer secured a loose dog on Union Street.
9:59 a.m.: Made contact with a resident for a concerned relative.
10:10 a.m.: Responded to Gosling Meadows for a call about a van with no plates, broken windows and a couch inside that had been parked there for several months. The van was towed.
10:44 a.m.: Responded to State Street where a hypodermic needle was found in a bathroom. It was recovered and properly disposed.
10:52 a.m.: Animal officer responded to Sanderling Way for a loose dog.
11:11 a.m.: Found wallet returned to owner.
11:22 a.m.: Responded to State Street where a truck took out a control box.
11:41 a.m.: Assisted on Sagamore Avenue with a crash.
12:02 p.m.: Open container summons issued on Bridge Street.
12:07 p.m.: Caller complained about cars running a stop sign at State and Summer streets.
12:40 p.m.: Baby duck found on Lafayette Road brought by the animal officer to a wildlife rehab center.
12:51 p.m.: A bank employee reported a "known fraudster" trying to get $900 cash. Arrested Joshua Ezewuzie, 25, of 122 Belmont St., Malden, Massachusetts, on charges alleging hindering apprehension, falsifying physical evidence and criminal liability for the conduct of another. Also arrested Isaac Abiola Olugbemi, 26, of 26 Meadowmist Way, Odenton, Maryland, on charges alleging theft by deception, forgery and being a fugitive from justice.
2:07 p.m.: Caller reported two "known druggies," one with knives, at a Lafayette Road location. They were not located.
2:41 p.m.: Moved along two men sleeping on benches in the Vaughan Mall.
2:45 p.m.: Report taken from a boat captain who said a former deckhand broke onto his boat and threatened to kill him.
2:52 p.m.: Unable to locate a man who "appeared out of it" on Peverly Hill Road.
3:14 p.m.: Lafayette Road caller asked police to move along a woman in a car behind a building.
4:54 p.m.: Caller said she dropped off clothing months ago to consign at 2nd Time Around and store staff said there was no record of it. She was advised to file a small claims complaint in court.
5:13 p.m.: Assisted with a crash on Lafayette Road.
5:50 p.m.: Caller said two males threatened her grandson while they were on Woodbury Avenue.
6:24 p.m.: Report taken about the fraudulent use of a credit card.
6:32 a.m.: Caller complained about loud construction noise from the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge construction site.
6:42 p.m.: Verbal warning given to people for being disorderly in Market Square.
7:58 p.m.: Responded to Lafayette Road where a store clerk reported being threatened by a customer.
8:46 p.m.: Cash found on Marcy Street was turned in to police.
9:16 p.m.: Ticketed a car blocking a Marcy Street driveway.
10:00 p.m.: Responded to Van Buren Avenue for a complaint about loud noise involving a dumpster. Contractor on site said he'd keep it down.
June 22
12:10 a.m.: Stood by while a car was repossessed from an Islington Street location.
1:03 a.m.: Moved along someone loitering on Lafayette Road.
1:57 a.m.: Moved along someone on Peirce Island after hours.
2:52 p.m.: Checked on well being of a resident for a concerned boyfriend.
3:32 a.m.: Assisted firefighters with a "highly intoxicated" man found on the ground on Hanover Street. He was brought to the hospital.
