Azul Ashengrotto makes you absolutely miserable. Not even in a bad way, he’s just… so, so beautiful. Octavinelle’s light shades of purple mixed in the aquatic blue makes him look absolutely ethereal, and you would tell him so if not for the threat of him combusting or using that information to push you into a contract. Now, all you're going to do is sigh about it. And make sure he doesn’t find out.

“Koebii-chan’s been drillin’ holes into your skull, Azul,” Floyd remarks casually as he brings back dirty plates from the tables surrounding you. He doesn’t bother mentioning how embarrassed you seem to be even looking at Azul straight- it’s funnier that way, after all. 

“I’m aware, Floyd,” Azul answers. “The question is, why?” 

“Dunno, maybe you should ask ‘em.”

You stay until closing time, chatting with most of the servers and Jade and Floyd and occasionally Azul, and you don’t notice the latter approach you silently, responding to messages from Ace and Deuce. 

“[name]. Good evening.” is all Azul says, drawing a chair for himself at the table and sitting right across you. 

“I’ve been meaning to ask you something.”

“Of course,” you respond in kind, your throat dry. “What is it?”

“Why do you keep looking at me? Not that I don’t appreciate how kind you are to the servers and staff, but-”

“A-ah, it’s uh-” you begin, effectively shutting Azul up. “I’m so sorry! It’s a very stupid thing actually.” 

“I’d rather hear you out.” 

“Okay, uh- you have very pretty eyes. I like looking at them.” you whisper, not looking up. 

“Oh.” Azul murmurs, and when you look up, you see a very pink octomer.
