Can someone explain the difference between としたら and なら for me? I think I get it but I'm not sure if there's grey areas where either one can be used or if it's quite clear cut.

My textbook gives the example:

その話が本当だとしたら、うれしいです。

But I could also use なら here, right?

The other example is:

飛行機で行くとしたら、いくらぐらいかかりますか。

Could I use なら here too? I feel like the answer's either no or technically yes but it's not very natural. The textbook suggests you could use "行く場合は" instead.

I also tried to write my own example:

ね、えみちゃんは振られたことになったそうだ。それとしたら、おそらく日中泣き通する。

Is it correct? Is it natural? (Not just the use of としたら but all of it.)

A lil quick reading practice for y'all because I was pleasantly surprised that I could read pretty much all of this (asides from having to look up one word). Useful vocab below the cut!

Useful vocab:

把握（はあく）understanding, grasp (of a situation)

I was very pleasantly surprised that I could understand about 90% of Otoyomegatari on the first read ♥︎ I collected as many volumes as I could fin at furuhon last summer ( still missing 4 ;-;) solely because I loved it and hoped to read it someday. At the time I figured that moment was far off in the future, but here I am, reading one of the best manga out there. The art is so gorgeous, haven’t seen anything closely related to this level of intricate design.

I subscribed to Box of Manga recently because I wanted to get back into learning Japanese now that my exam is over, and the package arrived today! I was actually looking for the cat manga for a while to buy on my own so this is awesome !

I have improved a lot in kanji ans vocabulary but boy oh boy is grammar still way too much for me to handle 🥲

I cannot emphasize this enough as a practical life skill: learn how to say no to authority figures. Learn how to tell them that nothing they can do to you will change your mind. Disappoint your parents. You have to live your own life.
