JUST DISCOVERED SOME RARE SCRAPPED KAIJU FROM LEGENDARY’S GODZILLA
So I was browsing Josh Nizzi’s (transformers, battleship, iron man 3) art profile when I stumble across a gallery called “ GODZILLA FILM PITCH DESIGNS”
It was interesting because it shows two monsters I have never seen before.
Tumblr media
The filename is “110428_Pterodactyl_v003_JN-small.jpg”
I presume it to be a homage to rodan, it presumably is supposed to be hawkmuto.
Tumblr media
another one named “110429_Rokmutul_v001_JN_small.jpg”
Being named Rokmutul I presume is is an early draft of what femuto eventually became. It looks like a very obvious anguirus reference.
Tumblr media
Last one called “110512_GvR_v003_JN_1200.jpg” which would probably stand for Godzilla vs Rokmutul
Here we can see a concept for godzilla that is very t-rex like. Thankfully we got our current design.
Its also very interesting when you addition that the monster in the early teaser trailer has multiple legs as well.
Tumblr media
Of corse not a direct homage to Rokmutul, it seems like the script called for one winged monster and one multi-legged monster and the concept artists just threw out lots of ideas.
Hopefully the fandom will give Rokmutul and  Pterodactyl lots of love!

Hey this kickstarter for a live performance of music from kaiju films is only $5000 away from making its goal and there’s less than three days left on the clock! They’re doing Akira Ifukube’s “Symphonic Fantasia” medley and devoting a huge chunk to Kow Otani’s music from the Gamera trilogy and Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. You know, Kow Otani? The guy who did the soundtrack to Shadow of the Colossus? Get cracking, nerds! If you donate at least $25 you get a digital download of the concert!
