Maomao is smart enough to realize that the whole problem with Lihua is due to her head lady-in-waiting Shin.

This moment when Maomao spoke directly to Shin as if she was saying "ha, gotcha. Do you remember me now?" feels genuinely brilliant.

If we go back in time, we'll realize that she's the one who purposefully ignored helping Lihua when she and her son were poisoned with the white powder as we saw Shin clearly pushing aside the message Maomao left in episode 1.

She was also the head of these "high and mighty" ladies who apparently weren't humble enough to look after their mistress properly when she was sick. They cared about her look rather than her health, the room's smell rather than Lihua's hygiene.

In a nutshell, Shin is an enemy rather than an ally to Lihua. Maomao saw through Shin's haughtiness when she tried to touch her to provoke her into confessing. It worked just like that. When she hit Maomao in the face, Shin's hatred toward those below her blew away her facade that she "cared" for the poor sick servant.

Although her story was revealed in season 2, Shin appeared in season 1 silently. It's nice how the anime fills in these tiny details so early on, you catch a lot of hints when you rewatch it.

Kusuriya Season 2 ED is helplessly romantic in a way I didn't expect. It's Jinshi's song so it's understandable.

The way Maomao fills Jinshi's mind and how scared he gets every time about their social differences always makes me feel for him. He wants her so bad. She's his partner in any way that might be.

It seems like the jasmine tea moment caused a sting in Jinshi's heart. Being a "eunuch" in Maomao's eyes may be an obstacle.
