The thing that I found beautiful about Whisper of the Heart is the fact that Seiji had not only did he read a lot of books before Shizuku did all just to get her attention. The most important detail is that he knows what her favorite types of books she enjoys! Like! He knew exactly what her favorite type and genre is! Doing all this just to grab her attention!!! I’m just! 😭

Although Maomao believes Jinshi has never called her by her name (probably due to being on the verge of unconsciousness) he does in the English dub of this scene but not in the original Japanese script.

Actions and Apologies

Hear me out, both apologies were necessary here.

While I’m convinced by the end the desire was actually mutual for something to happen in that cave, that doesn’t change the fact that it likely wasn’t how Jinshi imagined his first romantic moment with MaoMao unfolding. He probably wanted something more genuine.

As for MaoMao, she egged him on and teased him to try and evade listening to him. While she was wrong about why he was upset she knows he is and it does unsettle her. Jinshi’s initiating the apology I think is less about him getting another chance to tell her about his identity and more about reestablishing their dynamic together. We forget that they’re 19 and 18 at this point because they’re two people who’ve had to grow up and haven’t been allowed to act their age, except around each other. That has to be unique for both of them.

By keeping the door shut he’s giving her the safety of expressing herself that she didn’t necessarily have in the cave where they were so close and intimate. He wants her to know she can trust him. This way he knows for sure when she says what she does, about seeing him as Jinshi, without having to, that it’s sincere.

I think the apologies have the desired effect as just after this they’re back to being silly and MaoMao is the one to open the door and thank him for his gift, breaking the disconnect between them in an almost literal way. Their willingness to own up to faults shows growth and concern for how things affect each other personally. It’s developing that relationship beyond what can be gained from it alone and that’s sweet. 💜

It's not by order, but here are my sketches from the years of 2022-2025. haha this is all i could manage and it turns out that there's not much of it. I forgot most of the cpntext behind this sketches, but let me explain the ones that i've still remembered : - The third pic it's from catsafari "fake marriage" multi-chapter (post?) fic that she posted on tumblr, the sketch are baron's parents - The Sixth pic is actually a sketch of an artwork on TBF (again cat's amazing-awesome-beautiful-series) - The Seventh and eighth pic is a comic about the summer heat and to be respectful towards their loved ones, the boys kept their eyes closed - The eleventh pic is supposed to be a comic about hiromi and toto where hiromi challenge toto to a jog off(?) but toto doesn't want to take part of it - The fourteenth pic was a lipstick cmic where Haru wants to show off her new lipstick to Baron (and just wanted to make him flush) Oh well this is all i can remember, the others are just sketches and stuff

Height difference

I just adore how tall Jinshi is compared to MaoMao, the way she’s shown to be so delicate and petite in contrast to his masculine features and size. It accentuates how gentle he is with her and how she’s actually the one who’s the more “forward” of the two of in terms of being willing to touch most of the time. At least until the moment is charged, as we can see. Maybe it’s a feminine thing but the idea of a man who can fully encompass a woman in his arms is an attractive quality as it gives that sense of protection. 💚

Also got to visit the Cat Kingdom with maze. OK it's a kids play area but adults got in free 😄
