sometimes people will be like "just lost a follower over my last post" and every time I am baffled by the idea of 1) knowing exactly how many followers you have 2) assuming they unfollowed you for something specific and 3) POSTING about it

It seems like the older I get, the more irrationally angry casual censorship makes me. And it isn't just the "unalive" "grape" alleged filter-dodging vernacular, but the way normal words will be peppered with asterisks, or screenshots will have words like "gay" "hell" "fuck" etc either partially or entirely blurred. Who is this helping? What is the purpose of it, except to reinforce shame and elevate a flimsy perception of purity and safety, however those things manifest. It's so tiresome and I'm sick of it.

Netanyahu is now admitting what the intention was all along, the complete takeover of Gaza. Displaced people are already forced into only 25% of Gaza, and now Israel wants to reduce it to 0%. My roommate, fiance, and I need to get enough to pay our rent today or we will be homeless. All of 3 of us are disabled, and I have been a doing all the caretaking and had little time to do anything else, because my roommate has cancer and has been in and out of the hospital. She's in rn, they're deciding if she's gonna need more surgery or if she just needs to stay a bit and go home.

This is urgent. She starts chemo soon, and we cannot lose our housing just before. For for sake of disclosure, I had a post up for this, but it got 800+ notes and very little progress. We've Made Changing Your Mind Look Like a Flaw Instead of a Virtue

The internet has taught people to archive your opinions and weaponize your growth. If you evolve, you're a flip-flopper. If you admit uncertainty, you're weak. If you take time to rethink, you're stalling.

So people fake certainty to avoid punishment.

Intellectual honesty, though, requires change. If your views haven't changed in ten years, that says less about your clarity than it says about your lack of reflection.

My mom has tick-borne encephalitis. She's a shell of herself at the moment.

This is a reminder that there is a vaccine (that she did get and still she's been sleeping about 18 hours a day for a week so far) and you should definitely get it if you live anywhere that's highlighted in red on this map and you go outside and/or have pets that go outside, because this virus is truly terrifying, trust me.
