Someone’s extra salty. Leave the jaegerist fans alone.
“Thorny” is the word my tumblr bestie used along with their approval over my being less of a doormat. I disagree with that last part. I prefer to see it as my normal inclination towards compromise and common ground having limits. Bigotry, racism and fascism being some of those limits.
Thanks for the ask!

What kind of leadership does the SC need now? And who would be the best leader in your opinion?
I’m one of those who thinks that Hange was the correct leadership choice for the majority of the time skip. Innovation and development is exactly where Hange shines. I credit the port, railroad and any technological advancements made during that time to Hange.
Where Hange was limited, their main failing I guess, was their inability to foresee and ferret out the plots and schemes of Zeke, Yelena and the Jaegerists. I see not having an alternative to Eren’s genocide plan as a shared failing of all the top military leaders, and well as people like Hange and Armin.
But fast forward to now and Hange is once again exactly the right person to lead. Rather than approach problems with brute force and guns blazing, we know from Uprising how they can unite and bring people together. The bloodless revolution that happened in chapters 51-70 might have been Erwin’s idea, but with him imprisoned the pressure of swaying a terrified public into standing up and taking action fell to entirely Hange.
When it was all over, Hange took no credit for the success. Hange gave it all to the people who stood beside her. But this meta writer very much believes Hange was the real hero of the Uprising arc and that the skills they used bak then are exactly what’s needed now.
Thanks for the ask!!

Hey mom! ^^ About Erwin and Zackly's convo in the carriage, had the burden of Erwin's comrades' deaths been haunting him down before that convo or it started after Zackly called him out on being selfish about achieving his goals? Personally I think even tho Erwin was doing everything he could to fulfill his dream he always felt bad about sending his comrades to their deaths. Remember the time he was
(Same anon) hospitalized because of his arm? He told Pixis that losing one arm is nothing in compared to the number of soliders he sent to their deaths.
Erwin never viewed the deaths of his comrades lightly. Because he valued life, he developed the long distance scouting formation as a way to reduce casualties. Likewise, he was brutally honest with those joining the SC telling them that they likely wouldn’t survive. Feeling the weight of the deaths of his comrades wasn’t something new for Erwin. As you mentioned, chapter 51 is evidence of that.
The shift in the carriage ride with Zackley was that Erwin was forced to consider the reason for those deaths. Before that moment, Erwin had viewed all those sacrifices as something purely for humanity’s benefit. Zackley made Erwin realize that he had a personal, selfish motivation as well. Thus Erwin was forced to ask himself whether people were dying for his personal goal or truly for the benefit of humanity.
It marked the beginning of Erwin’s unravelling. Erwin could survive being hated and reviled, he could survive his limbs being torn from his body, but he couldn’t survive the thought that those deaths were the result of his selfishness.
That was his internal war on the crate in Shiganshina. Was he the noble commander moving the cause of humanity forward, or was he a selfish child using people to prove a point. In the end Levi helped Erwin resolve the matter. He helped Erwin prove to himself the sort of person he truly was.
Thanks for the ask!

Reiner vs Eren - SnK Final Exhibition
As some of you probably already know, the first room is an introduction of the story voiced by Armin, at the end of which the visitors are asked to make a choice: to start the exhibition’s journey from inside the Walls or from the outside.
I chose the Inside of the Walls. Some of Eren’s most important moments from when he was a child were displayed on the walls (both as drawings on the wall and manga pages).
Text on the wall: I’ll destroy the titans and explore the outside world.
When I got to the part illustrating the breach in Shiganshina, I peeked over it and caught a glimpse of the other side - it’s about Reiner’s most important moments as a child.

Official Ship Tease from the author Hajime Isayama (Erehisu?)
There's many panels of Rod and Historia by themselves Yams specifically picked one with Eren in it, combine that with the "boyfriend" dialog from Historia, what is Isayama implying I wonder?

Remember Isayama’s documentary last month? At one point you could hear him listening to some music, more specifically the song called 合法的トビ方ノススメ from Creepy Nuts, a duo of rappers who also have a radio show.
After the documentary aired, Isayama drew them:
Apparently, Creepy Nuts were informed about “a famous mangaka listening to their music while he worked” and talked about it during their radio program. I went to listen to that episode, and, while I didn’t finish it all, in the first 20-30 minutes they kept talking about Isayama and asked him that “if he was listening, they would have loved to be drawn in his style, whether it be after the end of the manga or to get a break if he gets tired of drawing his characters!” They were debating if they preferred to be drawn in human form or as titans.
Isayama, then, drew the image above…but…
These are the two most detailed titans in chapter 112:

Zeke’s true intentions
One thing that excited me about chapter 113 is how it clarifies what Zeke’s true intentions are. During his private monologue, Zeke says that the attack on Liberio was a success precisely because the war potential of the entire world will come to Paradis. The gathering of the nations against the island is a positive thing according to Zeke. It was his plan all along.
This chapter indicates that Eren is fully aware and freely going along with this. It makes me think back to his smile in chapter 100 when Willy invites the world to unite against Paradis. It plays in so perfectly to Zeke’s plan that I have to wonder now if he didn’t help write the speech.
This desire for a world war explains why Zeke is so certain that Levi and the rest of the Survey Corps wouldn’t go along with his plan even if they were aware of it. Zeke knew diplomacy would be their hope and he considered that absolute naiveté and foolishness on their part.
So rather than be honest about his intentions, the plan Zeke presented to them via Kyiomi, was to have the rumbling available solely as a deterrent against attack until they could build up other defenses. This made sense. This was a palatable option. The only person who would suffer is Historia who would need to continue a lineage of royals for 50 or so years.
But its clear to me now this was never Zeke’s true intention or even an option. Everything Zeke has done, from the early meetings with Kiyomi, to having the wine packed onto the first Marleyan survey ships, was done with the end goal of this war in mind. The port was built so enemy ships could invade. The attack on Liberio was done to give them a reason. The wine was tainted to ensure the government of Paradis would comply.
What we don’t yet know is if the end goal is simply to wipe out the entire world’s military defenses or if it is to wipe out the entire rest of the world. Is the planned use of the rumbling to cause the genocide of every other nation or is it just to establish absolute military domination? Perhaps this is where Zeke and Eren differ in ideologies.
Either way, this panel in 108 is exciting. Reiner and the warriors don’t know exactly what Zeke has in mind, but they realize it’s already in motion and likely has been for years. They can’t delay if they want to stop him.
