he finds himself shy in chloe’s presence. she’s still as beautiful as he’d thought her to be the first moment he’d seen her, but now the air is so much different ; there’s much more changed between not only them, but androids and humanity as a whole — he still doesn’t know how to handle it all.

“ i failed my mission for you, y’know. ” connor teases, though, perhaps the joke is in poor taste. he’s not too well endowed with humor just yet. “ —- how — does it feel, for you? deviancy? ”

     freedom is scary to begin with. when chloe felt she was more than just an android, at first she didn’t understand why. now she’s handling it a lot better, she knows she isn’t alone in this new world, there’s many others like her -- and her savior is one of these people. she’s ... happy he is deviant as well. she didn’t think about it before, back when she fled, but now that she’s facing him again, she can feel joy. 

     “ and i thank you. “ although she can’t really take any blame, nor does she want to. if she is the reason connor sees the world like she does, then she is proud of herself. “ it’s scary, most of the time i don’t know what i’m doing. is that .. normal? ”

she’s really pretty. he remembers telling hank that, though that was the farthest thing from being the reason why he didn’t pull the trigger.

“ you don’t have to thank me.  it was the right thing to do. ”

“ i know. i mean, i know that now. still, thanks.” 

but then? back when they first met and before she escaped? she wouldn’t  have known, and she definitely wouldn’t have been able to stop him. she’d  been just a puppet. she didn’t remember being shot before, but she knew it  hadn’t been the first time. 

“ you opened my eyes.”
