to me modern ellie will always be that rural tomboy texas girl. you mean to tell me the girl who's had physical labor jobs the entire game suddenly just sits inside all day being a toxic gamer and texting me on snapchat? insane, unbelievable. also why is she still toned if she doesn't do anything at all, that's always been a pet peeve of mine.
to me she's that girl you'd see getting rowdy with friends and she's covered in dirt n' grass. she'd point at cool bugs like a mantis or beetle and go "look at that thing!" modern ellie is a bug girl to me. she's the girl you'd see riding around in a farmer pickup with joel and anytime you come to her house she's always doing some kind of farm work like taking care of chickens, tending to gardens and crops, whatever. you'll see ellie with her friends poking around those old buildings around town that haven't been touched in years
maybe it's how jackson kind of reminds me of my town and the whole farm thing she had with dina that makes me have such a rural connection to her but idk. also texas farmer joel just makes sense, and he's technically her dad. so she deserves to be a texas farmer too.

Conceptual series -- Disposable Camera
--
What if, during their first patrol together, Ellie and Dina found a disposable camera in a drawer at the radio station?
For those of you who’ve never experienced the joy of the disposable film camera, they are made of flimsy plastic and contain the cheapest consumer-grade film. They’re designed to take a single type of exposure, with a set shutter speed, aperture and focus, and the best shooting conditions are bright daylight.
Outside of the ideal shooting conditions, you need to activate the flash to yield a usable picture. Red eye is inevitable. The flash is also set to fire at a specific power, so standing either too close or too far from your subject means they’ll either be too bright or too dark.
It’s very difficult to get perfect conditions for every shot, so when you take the film for processing (to Weston’s Pharmacy, of course), the processing machine automatically tries to compensate for pictures that are too dark or too bright. The result is often an extremely crushed dynamic range, and a lot of grain. They look crappy, but that’s part of the fun.
After 25 years in a desk drawer, I like to think that not only would the film have degraded quite a bit, but the housing would have lost some integrity and sprung a leak. This camera has a very slight crack in the housing, which leaks light when the camera is taken out into the daylight.
Typically, there are 24 exposures in one of these cameras, so I have included all 24 pictures that Ellie and Dina took together, including the duds. Some of you may point out that disposable cameras didn’t produce a date stamp in the bottom corner — this is true, however I think it adds to the effect I was going for, and also since we know the canonic date that this patrol happened, I thought it would be a cool detail to include it.
I hope you enjoy!

ᝰ.˚⁺⋆𝜗𝜚 i miss you, i love you.
daily click — don't buy nor stream tlou.
pairing: writer!ellie williams x fem!reader
summary: your ex-girlfriend wrote a book about you, a book that you can't seem to resist reading for yourself.
cw: written at 2am, angsty, described depression, i literally fucking hate this but i wanna release it, bookkeeper called maddy, cliffhanger, i think that's it. please beware tho!
a/n: inspired by a c.ai bot i saw by @/elliesssswife! wc: 1.9k
you knew ellie williams had written a book about you.
it was everywhere. the plethora of messages friends had sent, local news articles covering the book and the way she had worded her thoughts so poetically with such a heartbreaking end.
she had written you to be oh so beautiful. portrayed like some sort of goddess, she had undoubtedly written about the two of you. your love story, the whirlwind of emotions that engrossed the two of you like a fairytale before ultimately the flurry of colors and love came to an abrupt end.
the heartache that followed the breakup consumed you. it cut deep into your soul, memories from the period after became hazy, the world was a blurry. nothing made sense, how did it end was a question you asked yourself on the daily, and it plagued your mind like some disease, remind you everyday that you would never be able to ask the auburn haired girl, let alone speak to her ever again.
you couldn't even think about her without thinking about what it would be like if you could still wake up next to her, feel her, see her, know her. tears fell from your tired eyes everyday, becoming crystallized down your cheeks with the freezing temperature you had your room at to numb the pain. you weren't sure if you would ever find somebody who had the same effect on you as ellie did, a simple touch felt like heaven. she was your heaven.
you remember nights where you would wake up and reach for ellie only to be met with an empty bed, exiting your shared room and quietly making your way to the study to the sight of her with her glasses on, writing. you would wordlessly go and sit on her lap, nuzzling your face in between her neck and shoulder while allowing her to continue to work away at her desk, and stay there, comfortable on her lap for hours. falling in and out of sleep with her hands wrapped around your waist and your own hands wrapped around her neck. soft kisses would occasionally be placed on your neck as some sort of wordless ‘im sorry’ with the occasional “i'll be done soon and we can go to sleep baby, i promise.”
you would fall asleep in her arms every time.
most nights you would spend on your knees, hands clasped together as you would beg the universe for answers. why did things end the way they did? why were the two of you so foolish? you can't even remember why exactly the two of you decided to end it, a rash and tearful decision you regret more than anything.
everyday you missed her, you always would. there was no doubt in your mind the girl would stick with you till the end of time itself, the thought was suffocating.
soon enough, the chatter about your now world renowned ex-girlfriend writing a book that was so obviously about an ex lover, it began to make you sink lower and lower into the pit of despair you had dug yourself, and you knew you had to read it for yourself.
you weren't sure what the motivation was that morning to actually get up, out of bed and ready to do something you had said countless times you would do that day, then not even be able to make it out of bed.
slowly, your feet touched the ground, the cold floor sending shivers up your body. you didn't acknowledge the feeling, quickly making your way to the bathroom to do your makeup. if you were being honest, it felt really nice to get ready for a simple day out, even if you would be alone. you already felt better about today, constantly repeating to yourself you were only doing this to see what all the chatter was about even though you knew it was a lie to comfort yourself.
memories between you and ellie rapidly flashed through your mind the entire time you were getting ready, you had seen reviews on the book, people said she described you to be an angel but you didn't believe it. if i was that beautiful, then why isn't she with me right now? was a common phrase you heard yourself saying.
your mind didn't stop the entire time. even when you were putting on one of your favorite outfits, one that you had worn for ellie. even when you sat on your bed for five minutes and nervously bit your lip in anticipation. eventually deciding the longer you waited, the harder it would get.
as you finished putting on your shoes, standing up from your previous position of sitting down by the door, the thoughts halted. no negative ones intruded your mind anymore. giving one last glance to your apartment, you made your way out and to the downtown bookshop.
although the thoughts stopped, your heart got heavier and heavier, a feeling of dread started overtaking you, but before they could get any further, you found yourself standing outside your destination. it was cute, homey. fake flowers and vines covered the outside, warm lights glowed inside from the tinted windows. you and ellie used to come here all the time, it was your sanctuary.
with a deep breath, you put one foot before the other, making your way inside, the bell signaling a new customer as you pushed the door open. instantly, the teen girl at the counter looked towards you, smiling to see your familiar face before a look of pity overtook it.
“hey, how've you been?” she asked, having now abandoned the book she had been previously reading beside her as she turned her full attention to you, leaning across the counter.
you smiled at her, hands by your side as you fiddled with strings of your outfit. you and ellie were well acquainted with her, she was the owner's daughter. she was also very familiar with the two of you, ellie was always by your side, and now she wasn't, a wave of nostalgia crashed both into you and her.
“hey maddy. i’ve been… okay.” it wasn't a lie, being in this place alone had already lifted your spirits.
she gave you another sad smile, “okay, im glad," she pursed her lips for a moment, debating her next words "if there’s anything you need…”
“actually, yeah.” you paused for a moment, eyes looking down at your shoes that suddenly seemed very interesting “do you have it?” it came out as almost a whisper.
you didn't even have to say the name of what you were looking for for maddy to know exactly what you were talking about.
“yeah, we have it.” she whispered now, as if you were some fragile piece of glass that was going to break the minute you opened the first page. “do you want me to get it for you?”
a slight nod was all you gave her. looking back up as you watched her figure disappear into the shop before returning less than a minute later, the very familiar cover held in her hands. it had gold accents scattered around, focusing on the details for woman on the right.
“this one was reserved for you. they weren’t sure if you ever wanted to read it, but just in case, i guess?” she softly says, holding out her hands to pass you the book which you solemnly accepted. the accents feeling comforting as you held it.
you took a moment to admire the book before processing what maddy had said, “they?” you questioned, turning the book over in your hand and gently gliding your fingertips across it.
she stayed silent, shrugging her shoulders almost jokingly to try and lighten the mood, it didn't work.
deciding it wasn't worth dwelling on, you leave it at that. “thank you” you spoke up, breaking the silence as you admired it, tucking the book under your arm and reaching for your wallet to pay.
“it's already paid for,” she quickly stops you, reaching her hands out, “don't worry about it.”
“no i can't let you do that-”
“it wasn't me,” a beat of silence passes the two of you and you look at her questioningly, “please, just read it.” the girl exasperates.
“okay,” you mutter, retracting your hands cautiously. a free book is a free book. “um, i'll go do that now, i guess.”
maddy sighs out a breath of relief, “your usual spots empty if you wanna sit there.”
“thank you, maddy. i appreciate it. really.” then you turn your back to her and walk away towards your favorite corner. it had pillows surrounding it and a small window to the side, not big enough to interrupt the comforting warmth that emitted from the various lights around you. you sat on the worn out beanbag, placing your own bag beside you and slowly setting the book on your lap, scared it would suddenly vanish from your gentle touch.
this moment was inevitable. the reality of what you were about to do hit you, and it hit you hard. you couldn't go back to your fantasy world of the relationship being this incredible and short lived love straight out of someone's wildest dreams after reading this book. there was no going back, you would know exactly how ellie felt during your time together, positive or negative. The thought petrified you, but you couldn't stand staring at the cover anymore in the unknown, ripping off the bandaid and opening the first page roughly to be met with dedications.
You know who you are,
I love you, I miss you.
you can already feel tears brimming your eyes. maddy was right. i'm already cracking. the book was published a month ago. It had been eight since you broke up. there was no denying that her feelings hadn’t magically faded in the one month she had since publishing it. and the thought alone almost made you reach for your phone, but you didn't. you had to read the book first just to be sure.
and that's what you did, page after page was a flurry of emotions. ‘you’ were called elena. It meant light. ‘ellie’ was called phoebe. it also meant light, just like her real name. some scenes made you smile ear to ear, you would know exactly what moments she was talking about, no matter how insignificant or stupid they seemed at the time, she remembered them. others made tears slide down your face as you choked back sobs, small arguments and petty actions you thought attributed to the breakup, but as it turns out, didn't. you two always forgave each other, and she didn't blame you for it. about a quarter way through, you were lost in thought. tear stained face looking out the tinted window on your right while more glass tears silently flowed down your cheeks. your hand resting on the open the hard cover book in your lap. the scene you were stuck on was when the two of you had a day out at a tulip field, a picnic date she had planned that ended with soft kisses and sweet nothings being whispered in your ear while you whispered her own name like some sort of secret prayer. you had played that day over and over again in your head, even when you were still dating. she had touched you so tenderly, like you were a piece of fine china that would crack under her touch, afraid she would break you. she almost did.
but for the most part, so far, the book was positive. you were only ever spoken of as some sort of ray of light that was personally sent from heaven for ‘phoebe’. It made you contemplate everything. you wanted nothing more than to see ellie, run into her arms and apologize. you're not even sure what for. it was a mutual agreement, even if rash, but was it? the wheels in your brain were turning at an alarming rate when a hand on your shoulder startled you, quickly turning around, grabbing their wrist only to be met with…
“ellie?”

Eight girls from Beita, Nablus, carrying a hand-sewn outlawed Palestinian flag and singing Palestinian songs during the First Intifada, after Israeli soldiers dynamited 15 homes, killed a 16-year-old boy, and arrested all the village’s male adult residents. By George Azar.
