I am so smitten by mcd Laurance. There is something so attractive about the way he pines for Aphmau so openly. He doesn't care who knows. In fact, he wants everyone to know that she is the girl who holds his heart.

You can tell so easily when his flirting just for banter and reactions turns into actual pining and longing for her. His flirtation turns into more sincere affection. He spills his heart to her, knowing she doesn't feel the same way but hoping that she will over time.

He's persistent. Not in an aggressive you-will-be-mine way, but in softer I-will-prove-my-devotion-and-care-for-you-no-matter-if-you're-mine-or-not.

He says multiple times that he is fine if she doesn't feel the same way, so long as he gets to stay by her side, to protect her. Being in her presence is enough. Being her guard is enough. Being her friend is enough.

He craves her in the softest and most violent ways possible. Part of him wants to care for and protect her forever, while the other part that was born in the nether calls for her blood to be spilled. He wants to hold her, and he wants to kill her. He wants to kiss her, and he wants to drive a sword through her chest. He wants to bask in her beauty, and he wants the constant voices and urges to stop.

The only thing that can calm him is being in her presence. I fully believe that after she absorbs Irene's relic, that purifying power is something that affects Laurance just by being close to her. So long as he can stay by her side, he can feel human again, he can only feel the love and affection he has for her and the calling from the nether is quiet.

But when he can not be with her, when she pushes him away, the nether begins to claw at him, seeping into his psyche once more. He is more impulsive, quick to anger, aggressive. He is prone to have those dark thoughts and urges about killing his love. It sounds like resentment at first, at her pushing him away. But it's more physical than that. She has pushed him out of her purifying light. She is no longer quieting the voices in his head.

He is so literal when he tells her that she is his home in this world. Metelli is gone. Almost all of his family is gone. She is the one constant he has. She is the only one who can keep him sane and make him feel human again.

He truly is a monster begging at a goddess' feet, but what else is he supposed to do when he's so desperately in love with her?
