Can I ask your thoughts on something art related? What is everyone's fuss with Vincent Van Gogh? I don't get what is so good about him and you sharing made me think to ask what I've always wondered about. I'm hoping this isn't an embarrassing or offensive thing to ask you. I do like some of his paintings, but I feel like I'm missing something that everyone else understands or appreciates and maybe I wasn't taught to recognize it.

It's interesting, isn't it? We have so many ideas and criticisms and conventions about what makes good art, and he seemed to break them all.

I think he understood loneliness. Maybe more than any artist before or since.

When you look at a painting like this—

—you can see it, I think.

There are no faces. No expressions. But it's a bright, cheerful day on a family farm. Everything is full of life and warmth. A father has thrown down his shovel to catch his child. It's love.

But his hands are what you notice first. Big, heavy hands. And they're empty. Maybe they will be filled. We don't know what will happen. We feel happiness only because of what we expect.

That's what all the fuss about Van Gogh is.

disabled people are worth whatever cost or resources is needed to keep them alive. disabled people are worth it even if they don't live long. they're worth it even if they will need extra support and resources for every day of their life. they're worth it even if they spend all they life indoors. none of it is wasted. none of it is in vain. time, effort, money, resources spent on a life are not wasted. these things have served their purpose. the joy of someone's existence is not undermined by not lasting forever. there's no meaningful point, some threshold where you can say "okay this is enough. after that it's not worth it." it's always worth it.

some of you think ‘nuanced’ only means ‘morally grey’ and I’m here to tell you that actually straight up good characters can still be nuanced and unapologetically evil characters can still be nuanced. the character doesn’t have to be an anti hero or morally dubious to have depth. they don’t even have to feel sorry about their crimes to have depth.

Im not saying it should be illegal to own more than two properties. I'm saying there should be a lengthy screening process in which you have to prove that the next property you're aqquiring will be used by you or loved ones at least x time of a year. I think it should be immensely legally complicated to aquire more than two properties. I don't think they should let you get a third one if you just want to rent it out. I think they should shoot you with a gun for that. Housing is not a buisness and it should be heavily regulated and I'm not joking about it. What the fuck does an average private person need more than a house and maybe a summer house for. They should take away the right to own numerous properties and im not even joking when I say it. You should get HRT on demand btw.
