i actually need Adrien to have crazy beef with Ladybug next season. like. Chat Noir, so mature, maybe a bit of animosity but he’s putting it aside for the cause. Adrien is ranting to Marinette because it’s easier to blame Ladybug than think about it too hard and she just has to sit there and try to comfort him and not think too hard about how terrible everything is. i think he’s allowed to get a bit nasty. he’s earned it.

also to elaborate on what i said about blaming ladybug because it’s easier than thinking too much about it -

he couldn’t be at the final battle because of his father, maybe his father was protecting him, but he could’ve saved him. and maybe sometimes in all of his grief and anger he isn’t sure he actually wishes he’d saved him. look at all of the freedom he has now that his father is gone. the threat of that being taken away no longer hanging over his head. maybe he thinks about how everyone is celebrating gabriel agreste as a hero but he still finds himself resenting him. doesn’t that make him a terrible person? but it’s ladybug who was actually there, she could’ve saved him, it’s her fault really.

and then if he breaks down and tells all of this to marinette. she probably agrees that it’s all ladybugs fault. but also what has she done? she lied about gabriel agreste being a hero and it looks like it hurt adrien more than the truth ever would have.

to add to my earlier post. i also think marinette should hate gabriel agreste actually. like before she knows him at all she just thinks he’s a terrible designer. which isn’t even altering canon he actually is just a terrible designer. so is marinette but not in the version of paris i have remade in my own image.

Have you ever thought about how Adrien very likely has a skewed sense of perfection because despite being called perfect by virtually every person he has ever met, he knows that he is far from true perfection?

Have you ever thought about how, Adrien heard “you’re perfect” more than “I love you” his whole life and now probably equates the two sentences so much that the original has lost most of its meaning, but at the same time has kept it just enough that he feels as though if he isn’t perfect, he isn’t deserving of love?

Have you ever thought about how, while Adrien might keep that standard for himself, he certainly would never do so for others. So every declaration of perfection is really his own private, secret way of expressing his love to those he cherishes most? A Morse code of his soul, to share his deepest most feelings?

i really think marinette should’ve disliked adrien for longer, i would’ve just switched things around because that’s really compelling to me. i want to do a rewrite but i don’t have time right now so instead i’ll post about everything i would do if i could (read: had the time).

so marinette doesn’t like adrien, she thinks he’s kind of fake, uptight, he’s still just actually very sweet and very blonde but she’s just kind of misinterpreting the vibe after they started out on the wrong foot. especially if he’s bff with known enemy of marinette nation chloe… adrien is distraught about this of course. also i just think marinette should get a bit nastier, she’s going through a lot she can be kind of mean sometimes. as a treat.

ladybug initially doesn’t like chat noir because he’s like stealing the mona lisa or something, you’re telling me this boy hasn’t had an ounce of freedom in his life and he doesn’t dapple in a little petty theft just for the thrill of it when he gets the chance? meanwhile she’s taking her new responsibilities seriously because she didn’t want them to begin with! so she can’t understand how he can be so flippant about it… until they talk and she understands his life better but once they know each other that’s the Team.

then in terms of the love square, i’m not sure marinette has time to be thinking of fun things like love, and adrien just wants marinette to be his friend really. but i think marinette comes around with the whole lila situation because everyone else is against her and suddenly it’s like oh adrien is actually not an asshole? he has the power of critical thought? who knew!

also i think the miraculous ladybug power should kind of have limitations, like it can’t bring people back if they die so that’s really heavy on the shoulders of these sixteen year olds. i would also want to age them up a little. and they can get injured. cause then adrien can break his nose or something and it doesn’t heal right so he’s freed of being a model. and when his face is a little fucked up THAT is when marinette thinks ‘…wait. need’
