My theory about the vampire's marble skin in twilight is that it functions kind of like that cornstarch and water mixture. When it's touched gently it feels soft and kind of normal, but when it's hit with force it's impossibly hard and impenetrable. Idk what laws of physics would dictate this but I stand by it.
