Today was the last day of my CSRGOVE class. CSRGOVE is a 12:45 pm to 2:15 pm class that I go to every Monday and Wednesday. The professor, who I am with, in the photo above is Ms. Azenith Castillo. From the very beginning, our professor stated that people said her class was very hassle.  She narrated how when she was a young professor she was stern and strict. However, through experiences in teaching, she had learned to be less stern and strict while maintaining a balance of being able to properly teach lessons that have a bearing in life A day in her class had never gone by without us getting a little smarter about being socially responsible future citizens of society. Corporate Social Responsibility and Governance is not only applicable in the business world as some people may perceive it to be. CSRGOVE can be applied to the daily lives of those individuals i met in class. although, I do not personally know them. I am certain that we all learned how CSRGOVE is truly important for society to bloom.
I don’t personally know how many students were in the class of Ms. Azenith because I did not know anyone there. I remember on the first day I earnestly looked for a familiar face just to find comfort in this sea of unknown faces. I was saddened by the fact that those who I have learned to love and care for are in different classes far beyond my reach. I can see them just by the window from my seat. I see them conversing with utter happiness in their faces, I felt a slight tingle in heart and a sting at the same time. I am glad how those around me are happy but the sudden sting I felt might have been the fact that what once was is no longer the same. I am in fact a 2nd-year student and will not always be in classes wherein familiar faces fill the room. I must be aware but am sometimes leaning towards my own naivety as a safety blanket in times of my own discomfort when anxiety comes. I am neither insecure nor secure as a person. I will have my doubts and assurances but they stay not for long with me. They come and go as they please and I have just gotten used to it.
My Mondays and Wednesdays are sometimes such a bore because I have a 7:30 am class before my CSRGOVE and this class can be a class for those who just wants to think or have some quiet time because thats all it is. College is supposed to be a medium wherein students like me are taught how to survive the cruel world that life has dealt us with. This class doesn’t do that at all. It is impractical and sometimes such a waste of time. CSRGOVE brings about a liveliness in my day sometimes. Especially, when we have classroom debates about the case studies we do or just a debate, which Ms. Azenith had instructed us to prepare for. Intellectual discussions with my classmates and although I might be intense when it comes to these certain discussions. I know not to be a sore loser when I lose and one can count on me not to lose a debate with the right cards in my hands.  I am thankful that although this class was not a class, which a student can just go to and receive a 4.0 i did learn a lot. Like how CSRGOVE is not what you do with the profits but what you actually are doing during the process of getting those profits. This world has manifested upon itslef beings who are purely driven by the material things here on earth but CSRGOVE teaches us to put the well-being of those in need before our own and that my friends is a lesson one might be able to bring for the rest of his/her life. Thank you Ms. Azenith for making Mondays and Wednesdays bearable. Until we meet again. -NATHAN

LAST DAY TO MAKE A CHANGE
We had a seminar about proper waste management. We explained further the info graph, which we made sure that those who attended the seminar were well informed with regards to our true objectives and its effects on them as well. We reiterated that law/ ordinance in barangays calls for the members of its community to maintain a clean environment.
There was a back and forth discussion, which means that some of the residents as well as barangay officials were truly interested in making their community a greener place to live in. I saw the wonder in the eyes of our participants. They saw the importance of our actions and I was so thankful that we had these kinds of people still present among this community. One cannot say the same for other barangays. Some barangays like the one we visited for NSTP2 was very dirty. It had a lot of trash, dirt, and litter everywhere. The children would simply throw their candy wrappers on the floor without a care. Well, I guess one cannot blame the children but the parents of these children for not properly teaching them that littering is wrong and proper waste segregation and management is right. The project we had in my opinion was truly successful since the people were open enough to actual give their testimonies to us.
This CSRGOVE class has truly been an exciting one. It has opened my eyes to a lot of concepts. And I believe that I have become more open minded when it comes to handling people’s opinions. It might have been hassle at first to actual make these journals but its gives us students an outlet to express ourselves. Nowadays, people tend to go to class mindlessly and not give a damn or care but with these journals it can regulate students to actually pay attention in class. Our last visit to the community made me very skeptical whether or not they will follow through with our info graphs and our suggestions. But I guess only time will tell. I guess I had a realization that one must be willing to help oneself in order for help to truly work or be openly received. The residents and the barangay officials must have a realization among themselves too that if they are not going to clean up after themselves who will. We must not rely on others all the time we must stand up on our own two feet and take matters into our own hands. Mandatory or optional waste management has been completely emphasized by our group and now we leave it to the people with what to do with hard facts and evidences we have presented to them. I can never truly say for sure that I grasp the lack of care that people have for their surroundings but I think through proper spread of information, with the help of youths like us, the proper action of small time and big time officials. Our country will truly rise from the dirt it has been accumulating.

ENTRY 12
This is a picture I took of Gena and Andreu.
Disclaimer I might not be in the photos cause nagpabida ako sa video hehe.
On the second day, we went out cleaning the streets and checking on the people whether or not they’ve started to acknowledge the importance of the environment and that the long term goal of our group is for us to live on a sustainable planet fit for the generations to come. Some people have yet to change their ways. I for one have never done this before. Cleaning the streets for me seemed to look like such a mediocre and heavy job that I did not intend to pursue. This is obvious because why would I study in De La Salle to clean up the trash of ignorant people who cannot throw their own trash in the trash bin. I sometimes get rattled when I see trash on the floor or in the streets in general because this shows that our nation has become a people who care not of the environment or of what around them but only of themselves. It might be such a struggle for some to throw their trash in the waste bin but our mission is to make it a habit of their to properly throw and segregate their trash.
We cleaned and roamed throughout the day in the heat and the stench of the garbage seemed to have overwhelmed me but the cause is greater or is bigger than me so I sucked it up. I had to think selflessly in order not to flail from our mission I see my group mates looking all tired and sweaty from their hard work barely resting so who am I to be special. And this is for a cause that may change the entire city, nation, or even the world. I am an optimist. I see the good in all that people do and so when we go out and share our precious time to clean. I always just assume people will be there to follow in our footsteps we could be seen as the youth who cared about the environment. I see people just sitting there and doing nothing whilst they see us breaking a sweat just to clean their streets. Of course, nobody forced us to do what we are doing but I still have hope in my heart that these people will continue the work that we did there that day. I hope that by setting an example to those much younger and older than me that I give the next generation a chance to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I would not want my kids or grandchildren to live in a dome not be able to breath in fresh air just because of the selfish generation that we have today. I will always try to see the good in the hearts of man for jesus lives in their hearts. I will always be hoping that one day somehow this little thing we are doing today will make a difference.

DAY 1 ENTRY 11
We started our project expecting Child Haus an organization who helps those with cancer would be as excited as us to help them with caring for those in need. However, I guess same sentiments cannot be said for the other half of the party. Since, they did not respond to an email sent by our group given the fact that we have already visited them and they instructed us to email them. Anyways, the project must go on and so our group had picked another organization a simple barangay in Makati wherein we could clean, be green, and spread awareness with the team.
On our first day, I was late because my sister would not wake up. I told her to drive me to Makati the day before and she agreed but then did not wake up early so I went to the venue late. It was pretty sunny out that day and God knows I hate being outdoors especially when the sun is out and glaring all over my fragile skin. The barangay secretary who was kind enough to actually be truly concerned for the community approved our proposal. We scouted the area and we saw pieces of trash everywhere. In the river on the road or streets you name it. You will see trash. So, we took it upon ourselves with the blessing of the barangay to put up some posters with the info graph posted with this blog. We talked to people and gave out fliers with the information with regards to proper waste management. We all stood in the hot scolding sun handing out fliers and talking to people there. We cared for the environment. As a business management major, which I have emphasized in my other blogs. I plan to put up businesses, which do not only make profits but also cater to the needs of its stakeholders especially the environment. We have one earth and not being able to take care of it for the use of the future generation is selfish and very unethical especially in the utilitarianism point of view since the majority of the population will be affected or all of the population of the earth would be affected by the depletion of the earth’s resources.
This little project of ours may not seem serious to others but small things like this project will help start a movement. I believe that once people start hearing about students showing proper care for the environment those with bigger or more resources will do bigger and greater things derived from our small project. The environment houses not only our species but also that of other animals. We must not be selfish but always giving to mother nature since she has always been giving. This project will not be possible without the help of all my group mates as well as the concerned barangay citizens. The plan will work and I hope for the future is that all barangays implement the type of action or project we are sharing with them.

Debate
ENTRY 9 10
The week started off also with a jeepney protest that is why i combined two entries consisting of a thousand words give or take.
This week was utterly exciting compared to the one that came before it. Our professor had announced a debate between McDonald’s and a McDonald’s customer Mrs. Liebeck.  I honestly love intellectual debates especially when I have solid evidence and facts in my hand. I felt a rush just going into the classroom and our Professor reminding us about the debate. I was on the McDonald’s side with regards to this intellectual discussion and needless to say we had hard evidence and facts that point out Ms. Liebeck’s case against McDonald’s was entirely tomfoolery. The case was Ms. Liebeck sued McDonald’s for the hot coffee she spilt on herself. I pointed out that the liability of McDonald’s went out the window as soon as that coffee went unto the hands of its consumers. Ms. Liebeck group argued that the temperature of the coffee was too hot but then we pointed out that Ms. Liebeck should have known not to put hot coffee in between her thighs. I understand and give my sympathy to the old woman but with the following of her actions. Why then must McDonald’s be responsible for her lack of care for herself? We won the debate but how is this related to CSRGOVE.
Ethics is the main point in this course and honestly McDonald’s might have been sued for the mistake of the woman but then again one must offer sympathy and care for her. Maybe, the reason why she sued McDonald’s is because they might not have been concerned enough to actually pay for the damages. See big corporations like McDonald’s have tons of lawyers at their disposal cause if not then any fool out there could sue them for whatever reason they could think of. I think McDonald’s thought that the case would just run long enough for them not to pay for Ms. Liebeck’s demands as well as think that she might just be losing money paying for a lawyer to win a case that they will clearly win. Kudos to Ms. Liebeck for actually winning a case against a corporation as big as McDonald’s. Although, it may be clear that it was not McDonald’s fault. Sometimes, big corporations make grave or sever mistakes that they get away with just because people are scared of suing such a huge corporation. Well, what one can learn from this situation is from the point of view of both ends. McDonald’s should be more careful and more concerned with regards to the products and services they provide. Yes, profits are important but the well-being of your consumers must come first. For Ms. Liebeck, I think next time just do not put hot coffee in between your thighs and learn to admit your mistake even if a chance or an opportunity has presented itself that one can gain leverage over another does not mean one should take it. I for one am a business major and when in the future my businesses goes up and running I will make sure no loopholes are present and that the well-being of my stakeholders are always cared for.
I lacked the strength to actually get myself ready and prepare myself for class. Also, this sickness is the type that most people get embarrassed about. In my case, it felt like I had control once again and that I would not embarrass myself that day. Focus was a key factor that day cause I did not want to fart especially because of the fact that it might be a “shart”. I felt worse the following day missing both of my classes. I missed my very important quiz in my CSRGOVE class knowing it was a huge percentage in the grade I tried to get out of bed, stop holding my aching stomach, and man-up and just go to class. But this classroom was not your typical type of classroom in De La Salle University. Room 219 was a very cold room and I already had the cold sweats, which comes with my ailment. So, I decided not to leave the comfort of my bed knowing I would not be able to properly answer the exam because of my current predicament.
I missed a lot and the process of actually going to the vice-dean and explain my situation got to me but since I did not live with my parents only my siblings. The treatment I sought for the ailment I had was simply over the counters medicine, rest, and lots of water. I did not think to actually go to a clinic and be diagnosed because I did not think my situation was as sever as what others may be feeling. I shrugged it off and just tried to feel better for the rest of the week. However, without consulting a doctor my situation actually got worse and followed me the following week. I had not experienced this type of situation since high school. I honestly realized that sometimes others might not be overreacting. Some people may be experiencing situations that they may be able to handle better than you and that is ok. I learned that trying to actually be perceived as okay when I am not is just making a fool out of myself and might have even led to my complete and utter embarrassment. One sometimes needs to accept the situations they are dealt with and learn to handle it. Also, I learned not to take things so lightly. We Filipinos tend to put on a strong face acting okay but in my case the situation only grew worse. Needless to say, lesson learned for me, myself, and I.

The organization we chose is Child Haus. The reason why I suggested to my groupmates Child Haus is because of its help in the cancer community here in the Philippines. Yes, we or most of us know about cancer, causes, and effects, as well as eventually outcomes if not treated. These children as what most call it are the generation of the future and apparently, the generation of the future is becoming sick because of the present environment.
I strongly believe in the teachings of the bible and while I don't take everything I have read there literally I do believe that the reason why people, in general, get diseases as heavy as cancer is because of the environment we live in. It might sound crazy but before factories or any forms of pollutant producing outlets. People used to live for more than 100 years and now when one dies peacefully at 60 or 70 he or she is lucky. But that isn't supposed to be the case here see. If only CSRGOVE has been implemented even way before then kids wouldn't have weak immune systems that couldn't fight off harmful pathogens that lead to the deterioration of their cells.
Child Haus is amazing I've been there for more than a couple of times since it was also our MANAORG project. The children there are gleeful and enjoying life. but this cancer, which has basically and sadly consumed their lives have taken over. And the once jolly and happy faces of those cancerless patients has long gone as well as with their hope of being well again. That is why we chose Child Haus to bring about a new type of Joy for the Children within it.  We have planned games, surprises, and activities which aren't strenuous for their frail bodies but doable enough for them to be able to enjoy it. A form of giving back for all the blessings I  have been receiving for the last 19 years of my life is a small price to pay to visit and make the days of these kids worth while. My ultimate goal is to make them forget about cancer and just enjoy being kids. Just enjoy the life that God has bestowed upon them. And not wallow in sadness, which will do nothing but bring about chaos and despair.
Aside from giving back to society. I hope to achieve a greater realization of how lucky and blessed I am that God has given my this gift of being able to make those around me feel his presence. God is in the hearts of all men and women who are good. And that's what these kids need to see that people do still care and that people will still love them despite their circumstances. My goal is to make these circumstances of theirs as a means for them to draw strength from it. teach them that God has given or will always give us obstacles we can handle because there are a lot more out there in need of our help. so just a simple smile on a cancer kids face will surely brighten up everyone's day.

CSRGOVE - ENTRY07
This week has been a definition of employer and its employees. Organizations and its stakeholders. The board of Directors and the CEO. But what is the relationship between these beings? Is there suppose to be a dominant one and a subordinate one. Should one take all the credit whilst the other one gets his or her back working just hours upon hours on end.  I for one have taken MANAORG. This is management and organizations it teaches us about the type of systems, which companies impose or suggest if that's what people want to call it as a way for there to be order in their institution or organization. It may be written in their code of ethics or handbooks of employees. Even in some or most cases who and what kind of incentives are explicitly mentioned on employee contracts. In my very honest opinion employees are the number one stakeholder of a company. Why one might ask? This is because of profit or loss no matter what the cause the employees are always affected by their work life. The very fact that most of the time the work life of employees interfere with their personal or social lives says a lot about how corporations give true importance to their employees.
By now we have handled a couple of cases with regards to the ethical decision making of some of the employers, employees, or even the company itself. And I have come to a huge realization that what if in the future and I start my own company I value more profit than the well-being of both environment and employees. What will I be then? What will then be the teachings of De La Salle to me just some wasted time and effort just so what I could get filthy rich off of the backs of good and hardworking people?
No, I will not stand ideally by whilst the values I have gained from La Salle just go to waste. I will make it a point in my career as both CEO and Board of Directors if that's even possible to maintain a company, which strives for a multi-stream type of management. Of course, i will start by being profit oriented so that in the near future the fruits of my labor and that of my employees benefit my family as well as theirs. I look up to the SAS company because of its regards to its employees.
Employees and employers must work hand in hand in order to achieve success in their endeavors because if one takes advantage of the other it simply will not work out. Our HUMANBE professor said that is it better if the system implemented by a company is an upside down pyramid. This means that in the case of who gets fair treatment everybody does. Life in itself is a business organization equality within it forms a greater bond for all those involved and soon if everyone in society or businesses just work together with complete unity then absolute greatness will be achieved.

CSRGOVE - ENTRY06
Just when you thought CSRGOVE couldn’t get more interesting.
We started the day, as usual, thinking about the project that our professor had assigned us to do. Search for an unethical ad and present to the class the ad chosen by the group as a whole. I honestly can say I would have never imagined such ads as presented by the other groups. Let's start discussing them in order. The first group showed us this ad about McDonald's. It was a seemingly harmless ad, which I thought was harmless at first. It just started with a family eating at McDonald’s enjoying their food. And then it started with the dad or the mom asking their kid who do you look alike more. The kid just started answering how she looks more like her dad. The mom was baffled with the answers of her kid even kind of taking offense by saying “kaya ka pango eh” that was funny, though. But the unethical part about the ad was that the reason why the kid kept telling her mom she looked more like her dad is because the dad was bribing the kid under the table with fries. It might seem harmless at first but this shows that anyone will be able to say, think, or do anything you want them to just at the right price.
Second video was the video about Pop rocks and how the girl was failing in her subject or class so she was like to the professor this is unacceptable and proceeded to the act of fellatio, which the professor at first did not “enjoy” but then the girl got some pop rocks and the professor came unto the face of the girl and gave her an A. These sexual ads are unethical because it proceeds to objectify women as well as men. That it is easy to get what you want just by selling yourself or that men are that gullible with no self-control or worth of themselves that sex would always make them say yes.
The third ad was about Nivea and two men taking off masks of a different color compared to their skin. This is unethical because it honestly promotes racism and an unjust facade towards those of different colors. So what if the guy was black or white what matters is what they do with their lives and what’s their insides look like. The fourth ad was ours. It was about a Chinese detergent that apparently removes stains that it literally cleansed the black guy of his color. The reason why we found this ad so unethical is because it promotes racism, discrimination, inequality of races, and prejudice. No one should be treated differently because of his or her color race, sex, or even gender. Equality is the key to the success of a nation. We are all human status maybe different but dignity and self-worth are what we are innately born with. The rest of the ads just started with sexual innuendos and other malicious intent, which was poorly made i honestly think by that of the marketing and PR department of the corporation who made those ads possible. At the end of the day we should respect everyone.

CSRGOVE - ENTRY05
One would think that going to a class constantly would somehow outgrow itself. It would somehow push people to think that this class is just going and going and nothing new will happen to the class. It will be the same old discussions with the same people and the same faces and the same voices. Just constantly being there looking at you waiting for you to tell them something or answer the professor when silence fills the room. But not that I'm sucking up or kissing up to my professor I'm just amazed how every class time we have something new to learn.
A video was presented in class and as everyone knows a video presentation in class means we get to learn and chill for a while. I know for some people classes might come to them as easy but the brain works in so many different ways that extra information from the everyday things we learn in our classes stresses us and sometimes even overloads what's inside our minds. We watched a video that thoroughly explained the thru purpose of Corporate Social Responsibility. In the past week of learning about CSRGOVE we have come to a realisation that certain things might not be physically visible in a systematically progressing environment in the to corporate setting but its one of the underlying causes why a company would actually achieve success, attain, and maintain power.
We also talked about human rights. These are rights which everyone has and deserves to be serviced by it. We also talked about how there are universal aspects to human rights meaning, whether you are rich, poor, middle class, gay , straight, lesbian, bisexual, or any part of the spectrum you deserve to benefit from the rights which are innately yours. Human rights is the very gist of it means thats every human being wants to be treated with respects and would not opt to be discriminated by other people. In western countries some government officials would use “human right” as a way for them to meddle in the business of other countries other than their own. But what needs to happen is human rights just be a medium for all government officials to impose a stance about being equitable to its citizens and not just being equal.
A corporation or two were actually brought up in the discussion with regards to the type of management they have or the one that they are using to manage the system which they have in their corporations. The two that i mostly remember is SAS and apple. These are to companies at the very end of the mainstream and multi-stream spectrum of management.  Apple, which had this big scandal of using children for cheap labor but i wonder what the issue is about in this scandal because apparently in the utilitarianism  point of view using child labor benefits greatest number of people and thats why they tolerate it. It is honestly all so confusing, which reminds me i should ask my professor why it became such a scandal that apple uses child labor when in the business corporations point of view it is still acceptable. On the other hand, SAS which is a multi-stream type of management earn profits whilst taking care of the well-being of their employees. Two different corporations who make profits all arise from all the others but who is more ethically correct?

CSRGOVE - ENTRY04
This day was exciting!
Our professor had given us a previous assignment of reading about the parable of the sadhu. I thought at first that what’s a parable going to do with me learning about CSRGOVE I mean honestly a parable. I was putting it off until the last minute but consolidated with my group if it was a good read and apparently it was. They learned so much and so did I. This was a sample case study that our professor had us analyze in order to prepare for 7 other case studies that we needed to analyze.
The parable started with a group of travelers whose end goal was to climb a mountain, which was a once in a lifetime opportunity for them. They were a group whose end goal was the same but whose ethical standing was apparently what they had more in common with. Upon, setting above the high mountain, with blizzard like wind lashes. They stumbled upon this individual a “sadhu” which is a holy man by definition of my professor. They found him in a state of hypothermia which a state of being so cold or being almost frozen to death that any if not all bodily functions were to be completely put on halt just like hibernation for some animals but they wake up after. Hypothermia is a state in which death is the most probable end result. They started to help him passing him from one group to the other cause apparently, they didn't want anything to do with the sadhu because as I've said their main goal is to actually be on the top of the mountain where a temple of enlightened people lives. They knew of the consequences of their actions but to truly determine whether or not their actions was ethical. There is certain criteria or criterion which a decision must go through in order to be deemed ethical or unethical. The class was intellectually debating about, which course of action to take.
I had an intellectual debate with this girl in my class. My point was in line with the criterion for making ethical decision making whilst her rebuttals we becoming personal and she started becoming frantic and unruly. I did not mind these actions of her because facts are facts. And the ones i presented to her basically turned her all argument into smithereens. Our group chose to help the sadhu and put the trip to a halt. First of all, the once in a lifetime statement of the parable is not entirely believable the Himalayas will still be there even after their great grandchildren have died but saving a man’s life is an opportunity presented to only a few number of people. I understand that in the utilitarian point of view the greater good is that which benefits the greatest number of people and that the sadhu is only one person but what if this comes into the news. The whole city or even the world would have first hand known the story of how to travelers just left the man to die and freeze to death just to complete a hike. Society would have gone into a state of self-realizations thinking how their cause is more important than others and that is not what CSRGOVE is about.

CSRGOVE - ENTRY03
As I have been reiterating in my previous entries, Ethics is a main and big part of how a corporation works, runs and is perceived by others. But why still do others not see the benefits of being ethically or morally upright when one does actions for profits. I know or I have seen corporations just fill their seemingly unending pockets with the cash or fruits of those below them but then what do we do in order to address this seemingly under the radar problem.
Good thing humans from generations after generation have been using their brains for the betterment not only of their own well-being but of the well-being of others. Let us define what the problem is, Ethical Dilemma. The core or center of the dynamics of ethical principles is the virtue, which then branches out to individual rights, justice, and fairness, common good utilitarianism, and ethics of care.
People in this world has been consumed by their own self-agendas. They care not about what happens to those around them as long as they are secure in whatever aspect of life that maybe. The reason why people engage in bad acts is because if it benefits them who cares if they are bad acts. We can no longer deny the fact that there are good people in this world and their bad ones. Some people according to my professor choose to be unethical because they simply do want to. Some well-intentioned people then fail to choose ethically because the temptation of doing unethical actions has seemingly gone pass beyond their control. Some may be experiencing stumbling blocks to be responsible decision makers in the corporate setting. It may be cognitive or intellectual either way confusion is in the middle of it.
There are many explanations why people do bad deeds but in class, our professor basically summarized it all. People make a decision all day and every day but whose to say whether they are ethical or not. According to the model of ethical decision making, “a certain type of ignorance can be held liable of ethically bad choices”. This is understandable because if you are not aware that what you're doing is not right then what is stopping you from doing so. In the light of this, we must always not judge a book by its cover unless hard evidence has presented itself. One should not accuse a certain organization of being unethical without thorough investigation cause what if their only mistake was being ignorant would there still be a need to persecute them? Haven’t we all gone through a phase of being ignorant at one point in our lives? However, ignorance can be both willful and intentional like my ignorance towards twitter. I can try to learn it but I choose not to because my best friend would always help me with it. It is hilarious but it makes us just happy that way. In truly addressing ethical dilemmas not only in the corporate setting we must be always responsible with regards to our actions. Always thinking two to three steps ahead about who gets affected by our actions.

CSRGOVE - ENTRY02
When in a corporation what do we care about more profits or overall stakeholder, stockholder, or societal well-being? In CSRGOVE today we discussed ethics in the business setting. Obviously to start a lecture about a seemingly unfamiliar topic we would need to define terms that may arise from it like ethics and business itself. Ethics apparently does not or is not put within a box confined only by one definition but by definitions from different points of view of people in life. Ethics is broader than what grade school or even high school teachers have taught us. Ethics from different points of view of people may be correct for some and wrong from others. But whatever it is whatever floats the boat of the person is what suits him. One cannot honestly judge someone for how they perceive ethics because one has had this idea stuck in people’s minds by god knows what tat ethics is within a box but truly it is the perception of one who views it.  Our professor showed us slides of what businessmen thought about the whole idea of ethics because apparently, people in the business sector are the ones who have a higher probability of actually committing unethical behavior. But they were all wrong, all of their speculations what ethics was only hit the tip of the iceberg, which meant they knew something but not completely and they did not understand it fully.
Ethics and Business ethics are two very similar yet very different terms. Business ethics is a normative study of moral standards as they apply to the mission, vision, and core values of the corporations’ business policies, institutions, and behavior. Under business ethics is unethical behavior, which has been around for as long as the definition of ethics has risen. It goes hand in hand with which type of employees are being hired in a corporation they could be just, good working fellows, who strive for the betterment of the corporations overall standing. Unethical Behavior creates financial problems which for the company’s comes out as a liability that’s why liabilities and owners equity should be less than assets so that the given output should be net income for the benefit of all those in the corporation. Unethical behavior in a corporation affects all those involved in it because if authorities find out about the malicious acts within the organization then the most probable thing that will happen is the financial and marketing risks. Marketing risks, the reputation of the company would be tarnished and will prompt investors to withdraw their investments in the company thus leading to another problem, which is financial. The Company would then go bankrupt and thus demote all of their employees to jobless individuals. They will then not only be a burden to themselves but to society as well.

CSRGOVE - entry 01
My name is Jonathan Luke U. Tanlim. I am currently an undergraduate at De La Salle University taking up BS Business Management. So Far, my stay in DLSU has been an eye-opening experience with regards to all the talk about its students being elitist, non-conforming individuals, who pride themselves on being above everyone else. I soon came to a mind-boggling realization that these people are so diverse and there is kindness in their hearts.
Innocence. Naivety. Cluelessness. Ignorance. All the words one can use to not knowing or even being aware of CSRGOVE is what my entire mind encompassed. I had no idea what class I was getting into nor did I see the importance of knowing CSRGOVE hence my ignorance of its true definition and use in our daily lives, in processes of organizations, and ideally everything it affects in our society.
On the first day of my CSRGOVE class I literally expected an “above-the-iceberg” sort of idea but so much went on in our class discussions. Everyone had his or her own opinion and our Professor encouraged us to stand and speak out. Corporate Social Responsibility goes beyond what others might think. The general idea is doing well with the profits of your corporation. Generating enough cash or profits that will make executives richer whilst the backs of those below them just carry the burden of going overtime just to get clients and investors for their company. Corporate Social Responsibility and Governance within organizations is a key factor, which will drive an organizations reputation to the roof. It will have its advantages and disadvantages but if looking at the long-term effects of using CSRGOVE then it will honestly make a huge difference on its effects in society. These self-realizations were accompanied by our professor opening up to us about how some students perceived her CSRGOVE class as a hassle class but honestly speaking her class is entertaining. She admitted to us how when she was new at teaching in La Salle at a very young age I might add. She said that she was “barely passing the students that she had in class but has since then learned to ease up”. Aside, from all the introductions of everyone in the class and all the work needed to be done and passed. I also did not know anyone in this class, which made me feel more anxious. And whilst our professor said form your groups I remember just approaching this girl if she had a group and thankfully she said no and that’s when I formed this just group of amazingly fun and exciting people to work with. Its never easy trusting people to properly do their work and so I got feelings of insecurity. This is because being DL is a constant ideal that I have for myself and doing a bad job in class or not excelling is not an option for me. I make it a point of always making sure all I am doing is in line with the vision of my professors for the students that they want in class that’s why in the beginning of this class I will always be participating and engaging with my professor.
