thinking about all the little girls who grew up watching the sequel trilogy and who look up to rey are now going to see her forgive and love a man who has abused her and her friends and done horrible things on a large scale and they’re all going to grow up thinking that that’s okay

you’re upset because the abuser didn’t get to live happily ever after with the woman he abused, I’m wishing the characters of color got the development they deserved and that the woman hadn’t been made into a fascist sympathizer. We are not the same.

Imagine the Reylo fandom complaining when they got what they wanted most in the end. JJ Abrams having Rey treat Kylo like he is the only thing that matters in her life and that her life is worthless without him, so she lives alone on some planet.
And Imagine them complaining when they get their way in the black man being sidelined and erased for the sake of uplifting the white man in a last minute half assed “Bendemption” moment where he gets the girl he abused and will try to again kill throughout most of the Rise of Skywalker to kiss him.
Racism wins, Anti blackness wins, the murderous white male villain wins and yet they are still complaining when he will go down a a white martyr in the eyes of Rey. Rey takes the side of the white man who almost killed her black friend, so why are Reylos complaining?

My mother, a wise woman: I can’t believe they had Rey kiss a space nazi instead of the sweet black guy. That’s just *sighs* so racist.

People who like The Rise of Skywalker don’t care about storytelling

”So what if it’s incest and abusive, it’s just a movie it doesn’t matter” I have been sexually and emotionally abused by a cousin of mine. By making tros Disney said that there is nothing wrong with that and that incestious abusers should just be forgiven. It fucking matters to me.

That’s what I was doing! And some people behind me.
when the reylo kiss happened a large portion of the theater audibly groaned and started booing lmfao (I was among them) and honestly I have never felt such solidarity before
From what I’ve been hearing, a lot of theatres did that, and they also laughed at Rey Palpatine in a number of theatres.

The one good thing about Reylo being such badly written, forced shitgarbage is that it’s very easy to completely disregard. You can remove the kiss and all Reylo content and nothing of substance is lost from the story, and in fact the narrative is strengthened when we don’t have these weirdly jarring scenes insisting that Rey loves a man who she always looks uncomfortable with and who keeps hurting and upsetting her with no organic development of romance whatsoever. Someone can edit that shit out and it will be a better movie for it.
