Why do people talk about how harrowing Watership Down was but never mention Cowslip's warren... There are a group of anthropomorphic rabbits in this children's fantasy novel that have accepted their role as living meat. They've convinced themselves that to kick and struggle is to defy the will of a god confined to the tortured ramblings of their poet caste, who beg for their throats to snap under shining wire as their kin look on in polite fascination. They speak with lobotomised tongues and shun their culture for that of their devourers, pushing stones into walls, digging agoraphobic atriums under which to sit in silence, awaiting a fate they are forbidden to name. Why don't we talk about this

"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed"
Okay for context the other rabbit is nanabozho! (Also called Wenabozho, Nanaboozhoo, Nanabush and Manabozho, they have a lotta names--) and he's a prolific and prominent character in many of my people, the anishinaabe (Ojibwe), stories!
I drew him interacting with el-ahrairah because he reminds me so much of nanabush-- they both have a connection to a higher power, their gods, both are tricksters, both are part of their respective creation myths, and both care deeply about their people!
Nanabozho is a shape shifter, while he takes many forms their most common is a hare! So that just made me think of them even more fjdndndn
(I posted this on insta a while back and the artist for the Watership Down graphic novel liked it and I still haven't recovered mentally from that--/pos)
Oh btw, nanabush is genderfluid, no I am not joking--

Eviction under the Christmas Tree 🎄
Hey yall I’m Enya. I’m a full time childcare worker. I work with two year old children and toddlers. I earn only $12.50/hr. On December 20th I received a direct deposit of $741. Rent is due on the 1st and I’m $700 short
Venmo: Enyasaint
CA: $Enyasaint
Despite many reblogs I have raised $0 and I am terrified of not only eviction, but termination at my job. I have been homeless before and I know the only reason I have my job is because of my address and ID if I lose my housing, I will lose my job. I won’t be able to shower or maintain sanity. I cannot go back to being homeless and I cannot crowdfund often as I work full time and get no breaks.
VN: Enyasaint
CA: $Enyasaint
Please. I work with children. Hygiene is essential I must keep my housing. Thank you for reading so far.
$0/$700

Once again, we reach the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers (IDEVASW, December 17th) with more sex workers killed in the last year than we can name or count.
To process my grief this year, I wrote this piece for Tryst.
"Regardless of the real magnitude of the murder rate of sex workers and queer people, we can be sure that any group who are considered deviant will be killed or pushed to kill ourselves for our differences. Our deaths are not always at the end of a weapon or fists, but more often systems, and we know who to blame. On this year’s International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, I will be thinking of those who were subjected to forms of violence that are not so easily recognized and I urge others to do the same."

I urge non sex workers to listen to me read out at least some of the names of the sex workers murdered in the UK since 1990 and sit with us in solidarity with our grief, today on International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers.
Sorry about the TikTok censoring and imperfect subtitling on the video - you can read the full list of 199 names on National Ugly Mugs website.
