I’ve been sitting in my soft gray chair by the window all day, watching the clouds gather and darken, waiting for the thunderstorm.

My window has dozens of smudges all over it but I’ve never pressed my face up against it, not even once.

Maybe it’s the birds and bugs pressing their little faces against the outside to peer into my living room.

I can see that the wind is picking up a little but the air feels eerie and still. I want to go put my sheet mask on in the bathroom but I know that as soon as I get up it’ll start raining.

It’s been two years since I moved here, and two years since I’ve seen a thunderstorm from beginning to end. It’s time to give my Summer Storm candle a break.

I want to feel big warms blobs of water break on my face and slowly make their way through my hair to my scalp. I want to hear my rubber flip flops go splack splack splack as I step in puddles on the sidewalk. The downpour will be deafening and I’ll have to turn my music up all the way in the car, as sheets of white noise blanket the windshield.

And then it’ll end with a cool breeze, a few last-minute drops, and maybe a rainbow.

I swear grad school currently has more clique-related #drama than I was ever aware of in HS. Tbh I do thrive off being a spectator but I also feel bad for the people who are unhappy and involved in this. Oh well, just wishing the best for everyone~
