Actually Lucas Sinclair is a green flag and I don’t say that often about characters.

He is a realistic character. He makes mistakes. He apologizes genuinely. He cares deeply about his friends. He still loves Max but doesn’t pressure her. He just wants her to know.

Lucas Sinclair deserves much more love than this fandom gives him.

Btw, if the plan is for Eddie to come out/realize his feelings for Buck, how brilliant is it of Tim Minear to frame his arc this season as a search for joy? It means that anyone in the audience who opposes Eddie's ultimate realization opposes Eddie finding joy.

It was also really smart not to have any dialogue in the final scene or cut the music when Buck entered. If Buck and Eddie had talked, and the music had cut, and the lighting had changed, it would have ended the dance scene rather than extended it through Buck's entry, and the association with Eddie's joy would have been lost. Instead, the audience experienced Eddie's joy unflinchingly surrounding and embracing a miserable Buck. So whenever the audience recalls joyful Eddie (which they will because Ryan Guzman dancing in his underwear is an event) they'll associate him with Buck.

Probably really obvious stuff, but I've always thought that Tim's grasp on manipulating an audience (and when to do it) was pretty impressive, so, I like breaking this kind of stuff down. No one can say for certain that the show is going for Buddie at this juncture but, if it is, that last scene has helped ease the way.

So. Jonathan and Nancy and their relationships with their respective brothers are pretty intertwined on the show, and there might be an uno reverso coming in season 5 with the Hellfire Club members becoming town pariahs.

In season 1, they’re both looking for their brothers in different places at different times. But it’s Nancy who shows Jonathan proof that Will has been contacting them through the lights, and Jonathan who knows how to contact Mike through the walkie-talkies.

All this contacting happens in Will’s bedroom, with both Jonathan and Mike questioning if it’s real.

And Hopper stops both of them from going after their brothers, bringing them home from the junkyard and the Upside Down.

But while Joyce and Hopper leave Will to Jonathan’s care in following seasons even under supernatural circumstances...

with some Will sass and annoyance about being babied in between…

and Nancy continues to leave Mike behind, while he seeks her out...

Bonus:

...it’s also apparent that their brothers are kind of a package deal for them from season 2 onwards.
