Back from a practice run! I didn’t get to go to the race. I took these photo’s on a hill in the back of the Airport. So, I didn’t get photo’s of the Flyover!

It’s May and Hoosiers are ready for the Indianapolis 500. As I was driving home from work, I went by the Airport and took these photos of the Thunderbirds. Looks like they will be doing the Flyover!

INDIANA
Tumblr media
Indiana, unlike other states, was settled in a South to North pattern rather than an East to West. This is an 1817 map of Indiana. One year after the state was granted statehood. You can see that most of the population is firmly established in the south. There are actually three different cultural areas to the state depending on the people who settled the area and when they arrived.
The southern portion of Indiana was settled first when the Northwest Territory was opened up for settlement in 1790. The Ohio River along the southern border of the state is what encouraged this south to north settlement pattern.

High School teams from other states come to play in the gym, where parts of the movie “Hoosiers” was filmed. Yesterday, two out of state Varsity teams, Leslie County High School from Kentucky played Cambridge High School from Ohio.

Shades State Park, Waveland, Montgomery Country Indiana.
Shades State Park is that peaceful place you've sought. Located about 17 miles southwest of Crawfordsville (off S.R. 47), it is a favorite for hikers and canoeists. The beautiful sandstone cliffs overlooking Sugar Creek and numerous shady ravines provide the backdrop for your journey through this nature lover's paradise.
