Cryptid Country poster/announcement!

Hello everyone! This is the poster I made for my personal project: Cryptid Country. The characters and the Cryptid they’re inspired by from left to right are: Robbie (Grafton Monster), Acey (the Flatwoods monster), Joey (Fresno Nightcrawler), Malcolm (The Mothman), and Harv (Hopkinsville goblin)!

Synopsis: Set in West Virginia, we follow the misadventures of a bunch of teenage cryptids as they try to repair a spaceship and escape earth, all the while having to survive against hunters, the government, and even other cryptids.

There are many mature topics and themes in the story, like abuse, depression, opening up to people, finding oneself, falling in love, etc.

The plain grey background was getting boring so I designed a bedroom. You'll mostly be seeing Dimentio seated at his bed, but you get to see this since I'm proud of how it came out. I very rarely draw backgrounds so I was struggling the entire time,, orz

Here's a version with Dimentio in it to make the sizing more clear. It also serves as a reminder that he is short. \o/

What? Dimentio looks different? No he doesn't, I don't know what you're talking about. I'm extremely consistent with my art and the way I draw characters. /silly

I just bought one of the Kirby dvds and I want to show you something I find pretty cool:

Did you know when you press “More Kirby” on the menu and go to “Who’s in Cappy Town” , you get to see bios that talk about some of the Characters from the show?

I really wish Knuckle Joe, Sirica and Arthur’s crew have bios, but this is still a cool feature

we got two batches tonight so we're doing the first one! Young and Adult Lumas, a Boo, King Boo, Foreman Spike, Professor E. Gadd and Petey Piranha!

Lumas as a whole take inspiration from actual Lumas, stars from the original Paper Mario, and Geno. Their role is the same, star beings that can grow up into planets if they so wish. Adult Lumas are bigger, look notably older, and go from fully monochrome to having an analogous color as their "core". They're still under Rosalina when young, but if they don't become planets or other celestial beings then they become Rosalina's helpers.

Boos are basically the same too, they just have a body now lol. King Boo follows a similar guideline but I wanted him to be a fancy bitch.

For Spike I took primarily from his movie depiction solely because the color palletes from his game installments didn't convince me - they were too close to Waluigi's colors, and blue is INCREDIBLY UNDERUSED in Mario as a primary color. The plaid shirt does come from his plaid pants from Mobile Golf tho! in my verse he also lives in the Mushroom Kingdom and runs a construction and demolition business alongside Morton of the Koopalings.

Professor E. Gadd did not change that much, I just lightly damaged his labcoat, then changed his shirt and tie to King Boo and Luigi's colors, respectively. Fulfills the same role as in canon of a weird little man that makes a lot of inventions and is obsessed with ghosts.

Finally, Petey Piranha! Who I didn't originally mean to redesign but after doing so many other characters I said "why the fuck not". He is Bowser Jr.'s first OC of sorts, wholly created by him that then came to life thanks to his magic paintbrush. He is meant to look like a mix of a Piranha Plant and a Pianta, hence his more humanoid build. Also he has leaf wings now because tell me that isn't something a kid would do when making an OC for the first time that's right you can't because we've all done it.

DIMENTIO!!!!

Oh…my god. Where do I even behind to explain this one. He was the most challenging so far because of his flamboyant design. My least favourite Dimentio to have worked on so far is him in the frog suit, but I made it work! Every other choice is fantastic to me tho. I’m vibing with the Elephant Fruit, surprisingly! It was the easiest one to design out of all of them. If you’re wondering why he’s red when using the Super Bell, it’s because I based it off of not just the red and black lucky cat figures, but also the Phanto masks from Super Mario Bros 2 (the American romhack, not the official Japanese sequel, duh). For the penguin, I used a typical bird mask used in masquerades. They sometimes have big feathers on the head, so I used that to my advantage.

If you were expecting a cringey Dimentio in a frog suit, take the shitty scrapped design I went with at first.

Now give me another character to ruin lol

To be specific, what if Count Bleck from Super Paper Mario used Power Ups?

I have chosen four Power Ups of my choice because I wanted to experiment with character design!

For the Fire Flower, he doesn’t change much other than being more red than blue. I’m sure the same would be for the Ice and Bubble flower, but more blue and more pink.

For the Super Bell I made him a Mane Coon because I headcanon him as super tall, around 8 feet tall. And the elephant look of a mane coon fits him in my personal opinion.

For the Super Leaf, I made him a Tanooki! I say the mask is fitting for a masquerade!

And for the Penguin Suit, he looks so dapper and silly at the same time! I may have used two Sky: Children of the Light cosmetics as inspiration.

Who should I do next and what Power Ups? I will only choose four Power Ups for each character!
