From future teacher to homeless person 💔
My story and hope for survival😭
I am Israa Alwan, a young woman who once had big dreams and was ready to achieve them. After years of hard work and study, I finally received my degree in Early Childhood Education. It was an indescribable joy, knowing I was about to start my journey as a teacher, to help shape young minds and walk alongside them in their first steps toward knowledge.
But my dream didn’t last. The war came and turned my life upside down. My home, which was once a safe haven, is now rubble, and I am left with only a few belongings and a shattered bag of dreams. Now, I am without a home, a job, or any sense of security. I move from place to place with my family, searching for a shelter to protect our children and the sick from the cold winter and the scorching summer.
My brother Shadi, who has always been my strength and support, now bears the heavy responsibility of caring for our entire family, doing everything he can to protect us and provide us with the bare essentials, despite the harsh conditions😭😭😭
Today, I reach out to you, driven by a shared humanity, seeking your support to help us survive and find a way out of this life that was forced upon us.

This is how my mother used to bake bread when we were in Gaza. Now my sister and brother buy a bag of flour for the equivalent of $300 if they can find it.
There is a real famine in Gaza and all goods are very expensive
1 kilo of tomatoes costs $5
1 kilo of potatoes requires $10
1 kilo of onions costs $15
Please donate to my campaign so that I can save my family and support them in their distress
If you cannot donate, share the campaign
Please do not forget Gaza and donate to my family, even if it is twenty dollars

During one semester of PE in high school I got put in a section called Team Sports. This was significantly better than a regular unit because the athletic kids were able to play and I largely got to sit and watch.
Months were devoted to what they called Pickle Ball but I’ve since learned was basically ping pong with larger than average paddles. The paddles had been through the absolute wringer, all padding had been rubbed and torn off by a relentless stream of bored adolescents like myself.
This presented me with a unique opportunity. I had a pencil, nominally used to keep score. I had a blank wooden panel. And I had large stretches of time sitting on the sidelines.
Every day I’d pick a blank paddle. I’d doodle little animals, bizarre monstrosities, and a bunch that were just a huge eye in the middle with the words “Big Brother is Watching”. What can I say; I was reading 1984 at the time.
When we finally finished with the paddles and moved on to badminton I completely forgot my dozens of illustrations.
It wasn’t until several years later that it got brought up again. I was hanging out with a friend and their younger sibling. We were listening to them lament their high school experience of the day. “But I won the Pegasus paddle, so that was cool.”
“Wait- what?”
“Yeah, most of them are just Big Brother, so they’re not exciting, but there’s only one Pegasus so we fight over it. Last week I had an elephant I really liked though.”
“You guys fight over the paddles with art on them…?”
“Yeah!”
My friend turned to me and asked, “Didn’t you make all those drawings?”
Their sibling lit up, “You made them?!”
I sat in silence as the complexity of the world and the waves we leave behind as we move through it washed over me. I contemplated how intertwined I was with the rest of existence to create such a beautiful moment.
I had made art on a whim out of boredom and it had an effect on someone else’s day, someone who through random happenstance years later was telling me about it all unknowing.
Their sibling was delighted when I drew them another pegasus on the spot and announced that they’d be the talk of PE now that they’d uncovered the mystery artist.

My Family Without a Home... Without a Safe Place to Belong💔🚨
My name is Ahed, a Palestinian from Gaza. I am 33 years old, a husband to Maysoun (29 years old), and a father of three little angels: Fatima (9 years) 👧, Iman (6 years) 👧, and baby Noor, who is just 1 year old 👶. We used to live a simple life, but war took away even the simplest of rights. Our home, once a sanctuary for my family, was reduced to rubble 🏚️. In an instant, we lost our safety and stability.
Now, my family and I live in a school in southern Gaza 🏫. We have no privacy, no proper shelter, and lack the most basic necessities of life. Every day, Fatima asks me, "When will we return to our home, Dad?" 🥺 And I have no answer. Only silence that breaks my heart 💔 even more.
Maysoun, my wife, does everything she can to keep our daughters hopeful 🌟, but it is not easy. Watching her struggle to provide even the smallest comfort for our girls is one of the hardest things for me as a husband and father 😔.
I used to work as an aluminum technician, striving to provide a decent life for my family. But now, all I have is hope — hope that someone out there hears my plea, feels our pain, and helps me bring back the smiles to my daughters’ faces 😊.
We are not asking for the impossible — just a chance to live with dignity, away from fear, hunger, and displacement 🙏. I appeal to your kind hearts ❤️: please share our story or support us in any way you can.
Help me give my family a chance to live again 🌈.

Endangered Species Sightings from This Year
This is thought to be the first time in over 20 years that a blue whale was spotted off the Coast of Massachusetts.
I highly recommend watching the video and listening to the reaction of the people on the whale watching boat--the cheers and emotion in some of their voices, especially the woman saying "I'm trying not to" when someone jokingly tells her not to cry.
This is the first time ever that a mother clouded leopard with two cubs has been spotted on a game cam!
"After being considered regionally extinct for over a century, giant anteaters have been spotted roaming once again in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state. Scientists have concluded these returned natives ventured over from Argentina's Ibera Park, where conservationists have released around 110 rescued and captive-bred anteaters since 2007."
Over 100 years and the anteaters are finally coming home!
