Anxiety (Inside Out 2)

I think this goes with our saying, but this post contains spoilers for Inside Out 2.

Dominant Ni (Introverted Intuition) / Inferior Se (Extroverted Sensing)

Anxiety’s main concern, throughout the movie, is preserving Riley’s future, with one goal in mind: to make sure high school is good in high school. Because of this, we see her weigh every single thing that might go wrong at hockey camp, and makes decisions based on what she thinks is best for Riley’s future… even if that means taking away the things that make up Riley’s personality. She uses Riley’s imagination to come up with these scenarios, and gets frustrated with positive outcomes. Because of her inferior Se, she does have the ability to pick up what’s going on in the moment, but spends more time worrying about how her actions affect the future, not the present.

Auxiliary Fe (Extroverted Feeling) / Tertiary Ti (Introverted Thinking)

Anxiety looks to the emotions of those around Riley to try and figure out what she wants to do. She wants to “fit in” by looking to the values and feelings of others, rather than what Riley wants. Because of this, she tends to overthink situations, trying to figure out what is happening and who is feeling what. This eventually becomes the core conflict of the movie, who Riley is vs. who the emotions think she should be. For the majority of the movie, both Joy and Anxiety have a very black and white idea of who Riley should be- Anxiety thinks Riley should comply to the group to fit in, and Joy struggles to accept the new emotions Riley is feeling, and refuses to acknowledge they are apart of her now. However, because of this conflict between her sense of self, Riley has a new sense of self, and they start to see her as a complex human being.

I’ve been expecting you. Then you know exactly why I came here. What I foretold during the Ogres War has finally come to pass. Well, in a manner of speaking. I, uh, hobbled myself on the battlefield. My actions on the battlefield left my son fatherless. But… It would’ve been nice to know about all that pesky detail. Knowing would not have made a difference. You still would have been powerless to escape your fate. Just…like…you. Now you know exactly why I came here. You want to find your son. Indeed. You will find him. How? Don’t even get me started …and you have just reminded me of what I’ve been seeing. We have a stupid TONE DEAF AF show on Australian tv called “dream home.” Many people living in Sydney are fuming about this show as they are depicted getting a seemingly “free” home renovation and all is needed to enter the show is by applying online and having a sob story they can show case so the viewers can have a positive emotional response as to why they deserve it. Mind you , there are several sources that suggest these people who apply have connections with higher executive tv producers due to knowing them personally or have some deal with a well known builder or CEO producer. It’s just an absolute mockery of the people who are struggling to put food on the table for their family and /or sleeping on the street. These applicant people have money as they are buying properties in above average areas and apply to renovate all because they don’t have enough money to fix what they bought because it’s not “modern enough” so they cry about it. Mind you the houses have everything a struggling person would appreciate.

One of the ladies on the show had a massive sob due to the fact that she was sad that two of her kids had to bunk together because they could not afford to build them seperate rooms. Like are we fkn kidding? People are homeless, starving need genuine help where is that help!?? I would much rather watch a show where they are helped. It’s so tone deaf!!

It’s all just a fkn mockery and dumb ass tone deaf behaviour at this rate. Regardless of how these people assumed to have their renovations done they arnt grasping the message it’s sending to struggling people

I find the term "jobless behavior" very tone deaf in a world where unemployment, inflation and homelessness are existing and increasing problems people have to deal with but hey, I guess being "cute" (and mean) on the internet is preferable
