#TBT , 19yrs old. The day was February 14th 1999, to the day I was about to fly out of Great Lakes , IL and was headed to Bremerton Wa. I remember this day because the weather was horrible. Once we miraculously made it to our flights, my flight was stuck on the runway for 4hrs. When I finally landed in Washington at around 2am, there was no one to pick me up and I had no clue how to get to my duty station. I wandered around the airport asking complete strangers for help. I finally got to base at 4am and I had to sleep on a couch, in the lounge of the hospital, in my uniform because they didn't have a room ready for me. Crazy adventure that I will never forget. We lived in Washington at the time and we flew home so our families can meet him for the first time. Now, the kid is 6'2" and can take me down if he wants, haha! I do miss him being that small.
