about me:
you can call me mikey
pronouns: everyone can use xe/xem/xyr, ey/em/eir, he/him/his, and it/its for me, and trans people can also use she/her/hers and they/them/theirs
i am physically and mentally disabled
i reclaim the cripple and mad respectivley
i am an anarchist, abolitionist, and optomist
i will post about my expeinces with chronic pain, fatuige, celiac, scoliosis, phsychosis, adhd, autism, dyselxia, depression, being low empathy and addiction
im queer (bisexaul & aromantic)
im trans (bigender and genderqueer)
i have anger issues. i do my best to control that, but if you act bigotted or outride rude twords me or anyone else im not going to bother being nice to you.
im not an lgbtq or queer exclustionist but i will not call myself a inclustionist either. inclustionism validats the idea of exlustionism. you can not exclude people from queerness or the lgbtq+ community because it is not inate, and they are community already based on our mutual exclustion.

okay fellow cane users - I’m working on a future pin design. would you like it best with a slogan, without a slogan, and follow-up: one of these slogans or a different one?

note that if you send donations on paypal as “payment for a service” paypal will ask the person you sent it to for business tax forms later on and will freeze their account if they dont provide them!!
please dont send donations this way!! one of my friends has already had to remake their paypal once for this!! please also consider boosting this post so people are aware of this!!

Watching the new drew gooden video with the "$5 a month" earbuds that you can't own no matter how much you pay and they'll remotely deactivate the earbuds if you stop paying for the subscription and I think we literally need to kill companies before they start having subscription models for physical items they can deactivate

i wish criticism of antivaxxers actually discussed the explicitly reactionary and right wing tenets of the movement and didn’t just dismiss it on the basis of “lol these idiots don’t trust the government/institutions”

you didnt even touch on how white veganism is super colonialist and ignores the perspective of people who practice their traditional religions or just cultural practices (kosher, halal, and native traditions regarding hunting) and instead insists they dont know what theyre talking about and that they must know better because theyre uber compassionate
Correct! That's because I have absolutely no foundational knowledge or place to talk about the racism/colonialism in veganism from the standpoint of kosher/halal/native hunting, and I would prefer not to talk over those who do and would do a better job than I!

if someone close to you is disabled, you have to take that into account when you go places with them. you have to think about accessibility, fatigue, pain, flare ups, etc because its exhausting and hurtful when people who say they love you dont bother putting the effort in to make sure you ACTUALLY have a good time.
🔪abled people are required to reblog this🔪

People love to talk about whether or not disabled people can work
but if you can work just fine and your disability is destroying your ability to have a life outside of work (because work takes all your energy and more)
Dead silence. Nobody cares.

Most ppl aren't aware of the absolute deranged way SSI is granted to disabled ppl but I'm always so fascinated by how a fair amount of ppl theoretically understand that disabled ppl are expected to live on $400-800 a month and ALSO that rent at $400-800 a month is considered a very low amount even in a shared living space and yet the implications of that feels like that never fucking clicks for anyone lol like society literally doesn't want us to have shelter period, it doesn't expect us to have it

“invisible disabilities” in my experience aren’t actually that invisible if you spend more than a few moments interacting with someone who has one. the term invisible disability is meant to describe people who aren’t perceived as disabled upon first glance. it’s not an excuse for abled people to ignore symptoms or struggles because they think the disability is supposed to just not exist because it’s not visible.

Hello! My name is Morgan. I live with my partner, Erin. We are two trans women with various physical ailments and mental illnesses. Despite all that, we’ve managed to, with the help of this community, live and even achieve some of our dreams, like for instance my progress towards getting an IT degree that will help us achieve success in the world.
We live in Indiana where I work and get my education. Erin is on disability which also helps pay the bills. But every day, when we go out, people stare. People whisper. Sometimes, people outright say awful things to us. Indiana is a deeply conservative state, and although we live in one of the better areas, it’s hard when you don’t “pass” as cis as is the case with Erin (and me, to a lesser degree).
So we’re trying to move back to my hometown in Connecticut when I finish school. But if we get an apartment there, it will sap our resources to the point where we’ll never be able to save up to buy the house we need to thrive. So we’re trying to buy a house to move into at the end of this year.
Thing is, most places expect a hefty down payment, and we can’t come up with that money all at once. That leaves us with two options:
Option one: Take advantage of a heretofore unknown-to-me program that helps people with the down payment on their house.
Option two: Perform a massive charity drive to raise the money for the down payment, which could easily be $40,000.
If you would like to help with option one, please message me. It is important that you message me, rather than using Ask or replying/reblogging with commentary to this post, because my settings are all weird and I probably won’t see any of that.
If you would like to help with option two, my paypal is paypal.me/ekwolek. I will also be setting up a GoFundMe if you prefer that website.
If you cannot help with either but still want to help, spread this message as far and wide as you can.

Friendly reminder that:
Young people can have arthritis too.
There are hundreds of life long conditions and diseases out there that are typically diagnosed between 12 and 30.
There is a vast difference between being tired and having chronic fatigue.
Just because you can’t tell that someone is unwell from looking at them, doesn’t mean that you should assume that they are ok.
Many chronic illnesses are life long, and incurable. Many of them are potentially fatal.
If you have a disease like Lupus, on good days you still feel like you have a bad flu, 24/7.
Many of the medications used to treat chronic conditions have side effects that can really affect someone’s self esteem - like extreme weight gain, skin changes and hair loss.
Most chronic illnesses have very little awareness - its unlikely that you’ve heard of Sjogren’s Syndrome, Scleroderma, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or Fibromyalgia.
However these diseases can cause symptoms as varied as joint pain, fatigue, constant nausea, kidney failure, pneumonia, photo sensitivity, full body rashes, paralysis, strokes etc.
So please remember that invisible illnesses exist too :)

It's so weird talking to people who's view of "here's the way life is for everyone" is shattered as soon as they talk to someone with disabilities (physical, mental illness, any). Like you'll say you'll have a problem and instead of helping you they'll argue with you about how you're not actually facing that problem. Like,
Me: Hey, I'm really struggling to find a job and a part of it is my resume. I was depressed & psychotic during highschool so I didn't do anything to gain skills or achievements to put on my resume. I also don't have anyone to put as a reference. What can I do?
Them: You can add your skills, hobbies, clubs you're in, and different volunteer work you've done! You can also get your teacher as a reference.
Me: I already know what to put on a resume, my issue is that I don't have things that I can use. Also, I'm in my mid 20s so I don't know if I can put my highschool teacher as a reference.
Them: Well if you're a part of a church or an activity group, you could add that. Also, think of any projects you've worked on in the past.
Me: I already know you can put these things on a resume. I'm not looking for suggests of things I've already done, I'm looking for what I can do now if I haven't done anything.
Them: There's no way you didn't do anything during highschool?? What about some odd jobs you definitely did for extra money, like babysitting or mowing the lawn?
Me: I spent all of highschool either in modified classes or in bed doing nothing - not even hobbies, what about that do you not understand?
And then you talk to someone who's also disabled and they're like "Here's a bunch of jobs you can do from home that don't pay much but look good on a resume, here's some free online courses that also look good on a resume, here's how you can be making small amounts of money in the meantime, here's some things you can put besides a professional reference, and here are your rights if your future employer tries to take advantage of your disability - which you probably shouldn't tell them about unless you need accommodations."
And suddenly my will to continue trying returns!

offering you all the gentlest reminder that it's okay to have negative feelings about your disability. it's okay to not like your condition. it's okay to be upset with the abilities that it has taken from you. having negative feelings doesn't make you a "bad" disabled person, and it doesn't make ypu pitiful. you don't have to be positive all the time.
