Is skate lace around ankle really that strange? I do it when I go out skating, although I only use rented skates so the laces are approximately a kilometer long, and you have to do something with all that extra lace. It feels nice, too, a little more support around the high ankle.

i got curious upon noticing that mario ferraro wears his skate tongues outside his shinguards and decided to see who else on the sharks makes questionable equipment choices (compared to my own personal preferences. bc i am clearly the supreme arbiter of good taste). the results, sponsored by getty images:
