Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

~
Spencer made it a goal of his to go out more this year. Usually it consisted of reluctantly agreeing to accompany Garcia to some event or to go to a bar every now and then with Derek. Recently, however, he’s taken up going to gallery openings and showcases for local artists.
He always liked art, being a beautiful showcase of a person’s talent combined with some type of a meaning. It wasn’t anything like reading, though. The explicit explanations found on a page were turned into inexplicit meanings hidden behind layers of paint or some other kind of media.
He saw a flier on the subway for a new artist pop-up in a local gallery sponsored by the art museum. The works featured on the poster intrigued him, the theme of the show being hope. Hope wasn’t always his strong suit.
The week of the show came and he was waiting for the elevator with Penelope.
“Would you want to go to a gallery tonight? It’s a show on hope featuring the works of several local artists.” He turned to ask.
“Of course! You know I’m a lover of the finer things in life.”
The two friends made their way through the gallery doors. Garcia almost immediately running off.
“Spencer! They have little cheeses with the flags! Oh my god, they have vegan cheese. I’m in heaven.” She was giddy and she hadn’t even looked at the works around her. Spencer laughed in response before walking to the first piece.
“Oh wow.” He said to himself, leaning down to read the artist statement attached.
“What do you think?” You emerged behind him. He responded without turning to face you.
“It’s beautiful, in a scary way. The artist said they had gone through a turbulent time in their life and you can see the evidence of each moment through the intricacies in the details.” He stood back up, straightening himself to look at the source of the voice behind him. You chuckled lightly.
“Way to mansplain.” You joked, he seemed confused. “I’m just kidding.” His expression softened.
“Are you Y/N?”
“The one and only.” You smiled.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Y/N. I really enjoy your work.” He said.
“Pleasure’s all mine. Here, I’ll show you the rest of the works.” You offered.
“Yes, please.” You laughed at his response, making him chuckle from the contagious nature. “I’m Spencer, by the way. Spencer Reid.”
The two of you made your way through the row of your work, each artist having a designated section to display their pieces. You explained each piece while he internally read through each statement, hoping to get all the possible information he could regarding not just your art, but you.
“There you are!” Garcia came towards the two of you with a hop in her step, having thoroughly enjoyed as much of the vegan cheeses she could find. “Who might you be?” She asked and before you could answer, Spencer spoke.
“This is Y/N, they’re one of the artists in the show.” She nodded.
“I knew you looked familiar, I saw your profile on the wall over there.” She looked back to where she came from, pointing at the artist biographies.
“It’s nice to meet you.” You extended your hand, her shaking it eagerly.
“I’m Penelope. Wow, these are really good!” She complimented.
“Thank you!” You replied. “Hold on, I think I might have a buyer.” You said excitedly, rushing over to the very wealthy looking woman writing her name down on the bidding card.
“They’re pretty cute.” Penelope elbowed Spencer, nudging him gently.
“What?” He coyly replied.
“Come on, you like a little more than their art.” He rolled his eyes at her assumptions, even if not entirely inaccurate.
“Maybe. So, what?”
“So…” She pushed him lightly towards you, “Go do something, say something, anything.” She encouraged.
Spencer was too nervous to actually ask you out straightforwardly. He decided to make a bid on the first piece, not just because he liked it, but because he met you looking over it.
“Spencer, are you looking to buy?” You said, walking towards him after securing the earlier woman’s purchase of the last piece in the collection.
“Just yours.” He smiled, handing you the card he had just filled out.
“That is generous.” You chuckled, making him blush almost. “Says you’re a doctor. Guess you can afford it.”
“Not that type, but I can afford to invest in the future of bright young artists.”
“Thank you, Doctor.” You smiled. “I’ll hand deliver this myself.”
“Looking forward to it.” He turned back to Garcia, who was giving him a double thumbs up. “I’ll see you then.”

slut! - Spencer Reid X Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• got love-struck, went straight to my head. got lovesick all over my bed. love to think you’ll never forget.
• In which years post one night stand with Derek Morgan, you’re assigned to the B.A.U. The thing is, he doesn't remember you. But, Spencer’s there and he would never forget.
• Gender neutral reader
• Word count - 1,298
~
“Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god.” You mumbled to yourself as you made your way out of SSA Aaron Hotchner’s office.
You had been preparing for this interview for weeks, as soon as the opportunity was presented to you. Joining the B.A.U. was an honor for any agent. The unit started small and worked its way up the F.B.I. ladder to become renowned in its capabilities. Getting this job would’ve normally gotten you a high you would be riding for months. Except, as you left the office with a smile on your face, you saw him. Derek Morgan.
Years ago, when you were just starting in the bureau you had met Agent Morgan. He was older and already established, but notably, very attractive. The two of you crossed paths a few times before you really met.
“So, this is how I have to get your name?” He joked.
You were outside the coffee cart, heading to grab your order after the barista called your name. It was a stupid pick up line, but the cadence of how he said it met with his expression lead you to entertain the interaction.
Later that week Derek entertained an evening with you. A casual meal that you both knew what you really wanted from. It was a pleasurable night, of course. Several rounds with several positions of enjoyment. So when you saw him in the very same room as you years later, it was a shock.
You stumbled your way through the bullpen as you made your way into the conference room with the rest of your new team.
“This is SSA Y/N Y/L/N. They’ll be joining the team as of today. Make them feel comfortable.” Agent Hotchner said to the table as everyone turned to greet you.
“I’m Penelope, the ‘tech wizard’ of the team. I can’t wait to work together.”
“Spencer.” He smiled at you, reassuringly. “Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it seems.”
“I’m Derek Morgan, it’s nice to meet you.” He extended his hand and you shook it reluctantly as it hit you. He had no idea who you were.
How could he not know who you are? You spent hours together after weeks of interactions. You had slept together for heaven’s sake. Were you just another one of Derek Morgan’s conquests? Sure, you had no deep longing for a relationship with the man, but you at least were expecting him to know who you were.
“Are you okay?” Spencer whispered. You realized you had completely missed the presentation with the overwhelming flood of thoughts in your head.
“Yeah, I just spaced out. Thanks.” You responded. While Hotch had his back turned, Spencer slid his notebook over to you.
“Here.” He smiled. He had taken detailed notes of the case along with his own thoughts on different bits. You looked to Spencer, giving him a tight-lipped smile and a grateful head nod.
The case was urgent, they all were, but this was a missing kid case. The boy’s name was Thomas ‘Tommy’ Randall from Indiana. His parents called the police when he wasn’t in his bed this morning. The team was rushing to the plane as they swapped ideas. With all of this you were beginning to forget the whole ‘Derek’ ordeal. Key word : were.
“Heard you worked with the gang unit. I bet that was rough, at least with the B.A.U., we don’t stay in one place for too long.” Derek took a seat across from you on the plane.
“I guess that’s true. Though, I found it rewarding to put an end to years of torment in communities.” You tried to keep the peace, possibly hoping for the chance lights go off in his head with recollection.
The case didn’t end how you hoped for the kid, or for your first with the team. He was dead before you even landed. The most comfort the family would get was that you found the killer/ kidnapper. He was a repeat offender who flew under the radar due to his traveling across state lines in his truck. He delivered supplies for different factories and would use truck stops as drop offs, some of the kids even survived.
“Does anyone want to get a drink?” Agent Rossi asked the team as you all began to head out of the bureau.
“Ooh, yes please!” Garcia replied and began to start listing the local bars with the best prices per pitcher.
“How about you, Y/N?” JJ asked, causing a few of them to turn towards you.
“Why not? Hell of a first day.” You replied and the group began to either drive or simply walk to the bar down the block.
You weren’t feeling very talkative. It was a depressing enough day without having to deal with intoxicated interactions with the team. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time, though. It was clear they had known each other for years and had bonded over them. Even Agent Hotchner, who struck you as cold, was laughing and telling Rossi about his son’s recent game.
“Hey, how are you? Got you something, seemed like you preferred the tequila to the whiskey.” Spencer sat next to you and slid you a shot glass. He barely drank tonight, only a watered down with plenty of ice whiskey that Derek had gotten him.
“Thanks.” You smiled, taking the drink and downing it almost immediately which made Spencer chuckle softly.
“Oh, you know, tough day.” You told him, he nodded.
“The cases with kids always are, but I don’t think that’s all that’s upsetting you.” You turned to get a better look at him. Maybe if you weren’t so focused on Derek and the missing kid today, you would’ve noticed just how kind and attractive he really was.
“Damn, you really are smart.” You replied, earning another laugh from him. This one was more heartfelt and it made you feel better just hearing it.
“So, what’s really bothering you?” He pried. You could tell he didn’t want to disturb or upset you, he just wanted to help. It was both reassuring and refreshing. Maybe you should just come out with it.
“I know Derek.”
“Oh, you guys have met before?” He asked.
“Yeah, we’ve met.” You replied.
“Why didn’t he say anything?”
“I don’t think he remembers meeting me.” You looked down at the empty glass in front of you. He raised his hand and pointed to it for the bartender to get you another. It was sweet.
“Don’t overthink it, he meets a lot of people.” He tried to cheer you up.
“No, like we met ‘intimately’.” You used air quotes, trying to stifle the disappointment by attempting to make it into a joke, something you could potentially laugh at.
“Oh.” That was all he said.
“It was a one time hookup years ago, but I guess I just wasn’t expecting him to not remember it at all.” The bartender put the new shot in front of you and cleared the empty one from the table. Kind of an embarrassing time for the guy to come over, but you didn’t really care right now.
“Derek can be like that, he was a bit of what Garcia calls a ‘man-whore’.” He made you chuckle. “But, he’s settled down now. Maybe he just doesn’t think about that time of his life.”
“That makes sense.” You took the shot and looked back at him. “I guess I’m feeling a little unremarkable.” His eyes softened.
“You are anything but.”
“So are you saying you’d remember me?” You asked, jokingly but with a bit of a flirtation.
“I’m saying I’d never forget you. Especially if we spent the night together.”
“I might just have to hold you to that.”

~
The first week of spring semester was anything but special. Syllabus reviews and guidelines for a final months away. The second week, though? You were getting the hang of each course and starting assignments.
It was the fourth day of your higher level Monday and Wednesday Psychology course. You weren’t late, but you certainly weren’t early. You shuffled into the classroom and took your self-assigned seat towards the back, opening your notes to prepare.
“Class, we have a guest lecturer today. He will be joining us every other Wednesday for practical case studies.” The professor announced as you leaned down to grab your water bottle from your bag.
As you looked up, you were shocked to your core. You dropped the bottle as the professor continued.
“Meet Dr. Spencer Reid from the F.B.I.”
“Oh shit.” You spat out, you were screwed. Classmates turned towards you and the Professor raised a brow.
You couldn’t bear to look at him right now. How could he not tell you about this? You grabbed your fallen bottle and the rest of your things and hurriedly left the room. You could swear you had heard Spencer call out a “wait”, but that didn’t matter to you.
You dialed up Emma as you made your way to the bathroom, closing a stall door after you.
“Hey, what’s up? Aren’t you in class?” She picked up after the eighth ring, always having a text over call preference.
“He’s here.” You felt like you couldn’t breathe.
“Who’s here?”
“Spencer. He’s lecturing in my class.”
“Isn’t that a good thing? You loved his talk and the two of you are close. You might get a better grade.”
“Emma, we slept together. Twice.” You finally told her. You were beginning to regret not telling her from the start. You just didn’t want to face the judgement or maybe worse, the support.
“I knew it.” You sighed at her response. “Not the time, I’m sorry. How long has this been going on?”
“Can you just pick me up? I’m at Frasier, the red brick building off of main. We can talk about it in person.” You pleaded. You just wanted to get the hell out of there, attendance be damned.
“Yeah, I’m on my way. I’ll text you when I’m there. Just try to breathe and play a game or watch something on your phone, distract yourself.”
“I will, thank you.” She really was the best, you needed to let her in more often.
You took her suggestion and put your headphones on, playing some music as you looked for some sort of game that would keep your mind occupied. That was when a notification came.
“Hey, are you okay?” It was Spencer.
Did he really think he could just show up without a warning? That he could infiltrate your class? What was his endgame? You couldn’t keep thinking like this, you needed a moment to yourself to just try and relax. If he didn’t bother to even send a message to let you know, he didn’t deserve to get one now.
It wasn’t long before Emma arrived, she was at a café nearby and took the liberty of getting you a mint tea to try and help calm you.
“How’re you? Are you okay?” Her words mirrored his, but without the notion of ignorance.
“I don’t know. How could he not tell me he was going to be teaching here? Let alone in my class?”
“Maybe he wanted it to be a surprise?” She suggested, pulling into the lot of your apartment.
“He’s not really the surprise type, then again he’s not really the secretive type either.” You drank your tea as the two of you headed to your door.
“Do you want to keep talking about this? Maybe we can watch something or have some mid-day wine.”
“No to the wine.” You chuckled lightly. “But, we can watch something and I’ll try my best to explain.”
The two of you watched a documentary on butterflies or something, you weren’t really paying attention. You told Emma about your first date and how it really went. She was shocked but amused at the same time. You went on about the library outing and the Chinese food.
“So, what happened after you ate?”
“We got, I don’t know, frisky?” She gave you a look.
“Come on, ‘frisky’? You really have been seeing an old man.” She jests and you playfully slap her shoulder.
“We had sex, a lot of it. I spent the night there and we got breakfast before he caught his flight back to D.C.”
“And you haven’t seen him since?” She asked.
“We talked on the phone and texted every now and then, but no. Next thing I know, he’s guest lecturing right in front of me.” You grabbed the cup and finished the last of your tea, now lukewarm.
“And he never told you? Not even hinted to it?”
“Nope.” You shook your head.
“That’s seriously messed up. It’s not like it’s a different college or another class.”
“Exactly.”
You finished chatting and put on a shitty reality show from the early 2000s. After an episode, you cracked open a bottle of tequila, deeming shots a more accurate drink for the day you’ve had. You two had three each by the time you decided to order dinner.
You grabbed your phone to look up the menus of some local places, when you saw you had three more unread messages from Spencer.
“Can we talk?”
“I’m sorry, I should’ve said something sooner.”
“When are you free? I can explain.”

You hopped onto the bed and pulled out your food, handing Spencer his as he sat next to you.
“Wait, what are your socks?” You asked, sitting up.
“Penguins. I like to add a little light to my days.” He placed his food onto the nightstand and turned to put his foot near you.
“Cute, but get those dogs out of my face.” You laughed.
“Dogs?” He asked, putting his leg back down and sitting up to grab his dinner.
“Yeah, feet? Dogs? Don’t tell me you’ve never heard that.”
“Gotta say I haven’t.” He admitted and you laughed.
Man, he had to take a few more weekends off, this was great. He tried to remove some of the pressure, like Derek suggested, and it felt nice not trying so hard with you. He felt like he could be himself. He liked that you were yourself with him too. You were a little shy at times, but still more confident than he was on any day of the week. Other than at his job, which he had completely forgotten about with all of the spare room in his brain going towards being with you.
“Do you think we could try watching that Parks and Recreation show again?” He asked as you looked through the apps on the hotel’s smart T.V., ruling against cable.
“Spencer Reid, are you actually asking to watch a T.V. show?” You teased,
searching for it on the screen.
“What can I say? You’re rubbing off on me.”
The two of you were watching an episode about the miniature horse, Li’l Sebastian while you ate your dinner and drank some wine. It was a great date, Spencer went over some brief history on the usage of tofu and you in turn put a bite of it into his mouth to stop the tofu talk.
“Jokes on you, It’s delicious.”
The food was good, so was the wine, but the atmosphere and ambiance were fantastic. Spencer was fantastic. It was cute to watch the strong and intelligent man snort at a dumb joke in a show. It was hot when he drank wine, just the way his adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. It was sweet when he looked right at you and told you something you wanted to hear.
“Theophrastus said ‘time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.’ I’m glad I spent it with you.” He spilled quotes out of his brain as if it were water falling out of a faucet. His easiness in complimenting you brought a smile to your face you felt like you’d have for years.
“Me too. You’re amazing, Spencer.” You blushed as he smiled at you.
“I truly try.” He laughed. “Come ‘ere.” He said, placing a hand on your waist and pulling you onto his lap.
You leaned in to kiss him and he met your lips with the same excitement. It was more aggressive than expected, the time apart having pulled you two closer in desperation of one another.
“I could get used to this.” You let out as you separated to catch your breath.
“Me too.” He smiled, leaning back in. He went for your neck this time, stumbling trying to move your shirt with his right hand as he moved his lips lower.
The two of you were in a daze of desire. Hands roaming with need and clothes falling and thrown anywhere and everywhere.
“Perfect.” He shaped his hands into a little camera, pretending to take a picture.
“You’re cute.” You chuckled, just the simple sound of your laugh making his stomach flutter. He could really get used to this.
You reached towards your wine glass that you were beginning to forget about and taking a rather large in comparison sip. He decided to join you.
“Liquid courage, or so I’m told.” He took a swig and extended the drink towards yours.
“To liquid courage.” You clinked your glasses, cheers-ing.
You set the glass down as the sound of the next episode’s cold open filled the gap of silence between the two of you. It wasn’t an awkward silence, which was the plague to Spencer’s existence. He enjoyed a good gap of conversation, allowing his thoughts to have a moment to shine, but when it became tense or awkward between two or more people, he hated it. There were already so many moments shared between the two of you that he would hold onto. He just wanted to hold onto you, to be as close as possible.
With confirmations of consent and the heat inside of you growing every second he wasn’t inside you, Spencer smirked. He had kissed his way down your thighs and was teasing you with every waking minute.
“Spencer.” You stated with a fake anger tone of voice.
“Hmm?” He muffled against your skin.
“Please.”

Espresso Beans and Eyes That Gleam - Spencer Reid X Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•Plot - Spencer runs into a barista that catches his eye.
•Warnings - Just fluff and coffee talk
•Word Count - 766
•A/N - once a barista always a barista
It was another mundane morning that you were way too tired to be working through. The café was basically empty, which made you realize that was why you always worked alone on Tuesdays. It’d be a waste of the company’s money to add a coworker to the morning shift. Besides, the Starbucks across the street got most of the business anyways. You finished writing down the sole customer’s order onto the paper cup and began to work on it.
You took the double handed espresso tool and scooped the ground bean blend, pouring it into the espresso spout. You flipped the tool and pressed the circular flat surface onto the espresso blend, putting the spout into the machine and starting it up. As the machine gurgled and spilled out the coffee into the little cups, the door chimed and you looked up to see the strangest pair of friends.
~
“I have points, Reid. They add up.” Derek was walking with Spencer down the street to grab some coffee before their shift officially started.
“Would you really rather support the big guy over the little? Do you know how many mom and pop coffee shops go under every single year due to corporate greed and companies like Starbucks that don’t even support their own employees, leaving them to battle it out in Union negotiations? It’s astounding.” Spencer ranted.
“Okay, fine. We’ll go to that one. But they better have something sweet for Garcia.” Derek agreed and the two crossed the street to enter the local café.
“You go ahead, I’m gonna take a picture of the menu to send.” Derek ushered Spencer towards the counter and he nodded.
“Double foam oat latte for Sarah.” You said. The customer came up and you handed her the drink. She put a quarter into the tip jar and headed out the door.
“Hi, how can I help you? Do you know what you want to order?”
“Uh, yeah.” Spencer hesitated as his brain focused in on you. You had your hair pulled back, with a few strands falling to frame your face. The apron tied around your sweater had a few pins from media he didn’t recognize, but more notably your name-tag.
“I’ll take a large vanilla soy latte, with an extra shot of vanilla.” He ordered and you wrote it down onto the cup.
“Name?” You asked, marker in hand.
“Spencer. Thanks, Y/N.” He smiled. After he paid, he forgot to even leave the counter, just enchanted by watching you work. Sure, to some it was a menial job that relied on tips, but he recognized the skill required.
“Kid, move over.” Derek nudged, Spencer obliged a little, still standing by the counter as to not lose his view.
“One second.” You looked to the man waiting as you pumped a few shots of the vanilla syrup into a cup.
“What can I get you?” You asked the latter.
“One medium latte with no syrup, and one large vanilla chai latte with oat milk.”
He finished his order and walked over to Spencer, who was just standing at the pickup counter, watching you.
“What is up with you? You looked like a stalker.”
“Nothing, nothing. The coffee making process is just incredibly beautiful.” Spencer said without thinking.
“Beautiful? Oh, I don’t think you’re talking about just the coffee.” Derek laughed, raising his eyebrow suggestively.
“Shut it, Morgan.”
“Just give her your number or something. You’re killing me, kid.”
“Maybe.” He pulled a twenty dollar bill out of his wallet and placed it into tip jar, making you look up and give him a smile that made him begin to have butterflies in his stomach.
You finished up Spencer’s drink, putting the lid on. You had taken notice of the man, especially considering his tall handsome stature as he stared at you making his drink. It wasn’t the rarest occurrence, but having the guy be this attractive definitely was. Not to mention the excessive tip for a latte.
“Vanilla soy for Spencer.” You said, handing him his drink. Your fingers brushed and he smiled at you. You wondered what he might do for work.
“I was, uh.” He looked over at Derek who gave him a little ‘go on’ gesture. “Wondering if I could get your number. Maybe we can get a cup of coffee sometime, wait, not coffee.” He internally cursed at himself and you laughed at his awkwardness.
“That would be great.” You smiled and turned to grab the other two drinks.
“Wait, I didn’t get your number.” He called out. You turned.
“Check your cup.”

This was all new to Spencer. He hadn’t ever done something so ‘casual’. He hadn’t even ever had sex with someone who he didn’t really care for, not that he wasn’t starting to care for you. It’s just that drinking and sleeping together was more of a Derek Morgan thing, not a Spencer Reid thing. He’s beginning to think he’s in over his head. Maybe he should just call up the ‘ladykiller’ while you’re getting the Chinese.
“What’s up, playa?”
“Hey, Morgan. I think I’m a little out of my depth here.” Spencer admitted.
“What do you mean? You’re just visiting a ‘friend’, aren’t you?” He teased.
“I, um, may have-“
“I know, kid. What’s the problem?” Derek interrupted.
“I’ve never done something like this before.” Spencer confessed.
“Oh come on, you’ve had sex before, Spence.”
“I meant doing something so ‘relax’, something so casual.”
“Well, how did it happen the first time?”
“A good amount of alcohol.” Spencer said, making Derek chuckle.
“That’s called liquid courage, my friend. Well, do you like her?”
“Yeah, she’s great. It’s just that she’s young and we’re not like a couple or anything.” All Derek heard was the age comment.
“How young?” Derek pry-ed, Spencer could basically see his face right now.
“Don’t worry about it. I’m just gonna go.” Spencer was defeated, unsure of what to do.
“Hey, don’t put so much pressure on it. Just feel it out and do what feels right.”
“I have no idea how to do that.” Spencer chuckled and Derek did too.
“I know, kid. Just try. I mean, the date’s been going well, right?”
“Yeah, it’s been great.”
“Then don’t change anything. You’re great as you are, Reid.”
With the boost of confidence from his much more experienced friend, Spencer tried to swallow his pride. Plus, he was definitely going to seriously consider the ‘liquid courage’ that helped him out last time.
“Garlic tofu with rice for two and as many spring rolls we could get.” You did a little ‘ta-da’ motion as you approached the doctor.
“It smells amazing, it’s interesting though. This restaurant is supposed to be Chinese but has Vietnamese and Japanese options on the menu, like Pho and Ramen.” Spencer analyzed.
“You’re right. I guess most Americans don’t really notice the difference.”
~
“Awh, is this for me?” You asked as you took off your shoes along with Spencer.
The two of you went up to his hotel room on the third floor, upon entering you saw two stemmed glasses and a nice bottle of white wine on the nightstand.
“I asked room service for it. I figured it would be a step-up from the mini-fridge screw top.” He stated, walking up to pour the wine. You put your hand on his back.
“You’re the best, Spence.” You smiled, then realized. “Sorry, I meant Spencer. It just slipped out.”
“Don’t apologize. My friends call me that, too. Have to say, though, it sounds better coming from you.” He turned to hand you your glass.
God, he was sweet, funny, smart, and downright gorgeous. You didn’t care if you’d be stuck with meeting up every few months for a day or night together, it’d be worth it. You took a drink from your glass and looked over to Spencer.
“That’s so much better.” You both laughed and set the glass down on the nightstand closest to you.
