The Beginning (Prologue part-1 )

<Mer's POV> 7 months ago. I came back from my morning jog from the beach, rang the doorbell, and waited for mum to open the door. When she opened the door instead of her usual expression she was smiling very creepily at me, gods above what the actual tsunami happened to her. "Had a good morning jog?" she asked still smiling at me in a voice that was not hers "Yes,"  I said getting inside, dad beamed at me as I stepped inside and went straight upstairs to my room and closed my door, and locked it. They are being unusually smiling at me and it's only like 6 o'clock something should have happened while I was gone whatever it was should really be something world-changing for my ever stoic parent to be this happy in the morning. I showered and dressed and made my way downstairs in a record of 10 minutes. Mom was flipping pancakes while dad read the newspaper on the barstools on the kitchen table. "Ah here is the jewel of the Meren family" dad exclaimed, setting his paper aside. Now you would want to talk a little about my lovely family, my father is a veteran while my mother is a researcher at the hospital my dad works, lovely right. Not at all, because as a kid I knew a lot about animals than average which led to kids bullying because apparently, a 5 year should not know about different species of salamanders and they are definitely not good conversation topics which led to me being with myself and now as might have guessed there is a bit (a lot) of tension between my parents and me why? Oh, that's because I want to be a music artist, make music sing you know things like that but they want me to be like them which has led to numerous arguments and hence the tension. It's not like I don't love them, it's just that they are trying to control my life for which I want to live differently. And then there is the whole Meren family name thing which to say is really overrated, the Merens are a long line of animal tamer and specialist with water as our family element and literally, everyone in our family is either a wildlife photographer, writer, researcher or a vet or things related to animals and I don't like it mean animals are cool but I don't want to be like the rest of my family I want to be different I want to be a musician. I like to sing, write songs, play the guitar or mix different sounds and make a tune people will talk about and love, which my parents don't seem to understand. I was stunned. I was speechless while mom and dad were talking proudly and beaming at me and all those things proud parents talk about. I took the acceptance letter and opened it to confirm that it was true or not.
