Dearest Il Capitano,
If you’re reading this, then I may not be by your side as you face the challenges ahead. I write this letter not from a place of despair, but from a deep well of love and hope. I want you to know how much you mean to me and how profoundly you have changed my life.
From the moment we met, you showed me a world beyond my wildest dreams. Your strength, your determination, and your unwavering resolve have always inspired me. I admired your stoicism, even when I wished you would allow yourself to feel and express more. I remember the moments we shared, the quiet evenings where you opened up about your past, and the laughter that echoed through the silence. Those memories are treasures I will hold in my heart forever.
As I write this, I can feel the weight of the world pressing down on us. The war has created an unbearable strain, and I worry for you. Your safety is paramount to me, and I fear that my absence will make your burdens heavier. But please remember, my love, that even when I am gone, my spirit will always be with you. You carry my heart with you wherever you go.
There may come a day when you feel lost or alone, but know that I will always be watching over you. I want you to be happy, to find joy in the little things, and to continue fighting for the future you believe in. Remember the beauty of the world around you—the warmth of the sun, the sound of the wind, and the laughter of friends. These are the moments that make life worth living, and I hope you embrace them fully.
If I could ask one thing of you, it would be this: do not let grief consume you. Allow yourself to mourn, yes, but also allow yourself to heal and grow. You are not just a warrior, my love; you are a man capable of immense love and kindness. Embrace that part of yourself. Find comfort in the memories we created together and carry them with you as a guiding light.
Lastly, I want to tell you how much I love you. My love for you has been the brightest part of my life. It has given me strength in my darkest moments and joy in my happiest ones. I wish I could hold you one last time, to feel your warmth against me and to tell you how much you mean to me in person.
Please take care of yourself, Il Capitano. Continue to fight for what is right, for those who cannot fight for themselves. You have a purpose that goes beyond the battlefield, and I believe in you wholeheartedly.
Until we meet again, my dearest.
Yours forever,
Your Innamorata, Himari.
___
Thankyou for your continued support! I really really appreciate it.

Chapter 18:
The morning light filtered through the trees as Il Capitano awoke, his heart heavy with anticipation. Today marked their 390th anniversary, a milestone he had cherished in silence for so long. He lay still for a moment, savoring the feeling for his dream. He hadn’t dream in awhile so today, he held on to it.
He rose from his bed, the weight of his armor a familiar burden. But today, he chose to leave it behind, opting instead for a simple tunic. After a quick breakfast, he made his way to the garden, a place where memories of Himari thrived. There, he knelt to gather an exquisite bouquet of red roses, their vibrant petals a symbol of his love. Each flower seemed to whisper her name as he placed them delicately into his arms.
With the bouquet cradled against his chest, he trudged through the quiet streets of Snezhnaya, each step a reminder of the joy and laughter they once shared. The city felt different today—more somber, yet oddly alive with the presence of memories. As he approached the familiar spot, an ache settled in his chest.
He reached the place where Himari would often wait for him, a secluded area adorned with wildflowers and a gentle breeze that rustled the leaves overhead. He sat down on the cool ground, the bouquet resting beside him.
As he settled in, Il Capitano pulled out a tattered and torn letter that he had read countless times. The words were a lifeline, a connection to the past that he clung to fiercely. He unfolded it gently, feeling the familiar warmth spread through him as he began to read aloud, his voice soft and filled with emotion.
“My dearest Capitano, I want you to know that no matter where life takes us, my heart will always be with you...”
His voice faltered for a moment, a lump forming in his throat. He paused, staring into the distance as memories of her laughter echoed in his mind. The words continued to flow, each line weaving a tapestry of their shared moments.
But as he reached the end, he felt the heaviness of today more acutely. He whispered, almost to himself, “I dreamt of you. I miss you. I love you. Why can’t you just take me with you?”
The air around him felt thick with unspoken words, his heart aching as he sought the comfort of her presence. He looked at the roses beside him, their vibrant red a stark contrast to the grayness that surrounded him. He could almost imagine her sitting next to him, her gentle smile illuminating the shadows of his heart.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the landscape, Il Capitano felt a profound sense of loss wash over him. “I promise,” he whispered, gripping the letter tightly, “I’ll keep you in my heart forever.”
He leaned back against the cool earth, letting the silence envelop him. Though the world around him continued to turn, time stood still in this moment, tethered by the memories of love that transcended the present.
Today was an anniversary marked by sorrow, yet he held on to hope, clinging to the belief that one day, they would be reunited, and their story would continue.
The sky above Snezhnaya was draped in a heavy shroud of gray, mirroring the sorrow that weighed on Tsaritsa’s heart. She stood at the edge of the gathering, a figure of regal elegance and quiet despair, her presence commanding yet overshadowed by the profound loss they were all there to mourn.
As the ceremony unfolded, Tsaritsa felt the chill of the wind cut through her, as if nature itself was grieving the absence of the Innamorata. She watched the gathering of Fatui and friends, their faces etched with sorrow, each heart touched by the radiant spirit of Himari. The memory of her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering strength lingered like a whisper in the air.
“The spot of the 10th Fatui will always be yours,” Tsaritsa said softly, her voice barely audible above the rustling leaves. “Innamorata, the lover, the healer, the light in our darkest moments.” Her words carried a weight of reverence, honoring the life that had intertwined so deeply with their own.
She glanced toward Il Capitano, kneeling beside the grave, his silhouette framed by the fading light. He had been a pillar of strength, a guardian of Snezhnaya, yet now he seemed like a man adrift, lost in a sea of grief. Tsaritsa’s heart ached for him, for the love they had shared, and for the gaping void that now marred their world.
“You were more than just a Harbinger, Himari,” Tsaritsa continued, her gaze drifting back to the casket. “You were a beacon of hope for us all. Your healing touch reached beyond the physical—you healed our spirits, reminding us of the beauty in connection and love.”
As the wind whispered through the trees, Tsaritsa could almost hear Himari's laughter echoing in the distance, a sound that brought warmth to the cold day. She closed her eyes, allowing herself a moment to reflect on the joy Himari had brought into their lives, how her compassion had been a balm for many souls.
“We will carry your legacy, dear Innamorata,” she vowed, the conviction strengthening her voice. “Your memory will live on in the hearts of those you touched. We will honor you, not just today, but in every decision, in every act of kindness we extend to others.”
Tsaritsa stepped forward, joining Il Capitano at the grave. She placed a delicate white flower beside the roses, a symbol of purity and remembrance. The soft petals fluttered in the breeze, a silent prayer for Himari’s spirit to find peace.
“You will always be a part of us,” Tsaritsa whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “In our thoughts, in our hearts, and in the very essence of who we are.”
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a gentle glow over the mourners, Tsaritsa felt a sense of unity among them. They were bound by their shared love for Himari, a tapestry of grief and gratitude woven into their souls.
With a final glance at the grave, Tsaritsa turned away, knowing that though the Innamorata was no longer physically present, her spirit would forever guide and inspire them. They would move forward, carrying her light into the shadows, ensuring that the legacy of the lover would never fade.
thus.
the 10th seat wil forever be empty. Never to be seated.

Chapter 16:
In the quiet solitude of his chamber, Il Capitano sat alone, the weight of the world momentarily lifted. The flickering candlelight cast soft shadows on the walls, illuminating a small collection of photographs he had carefully arranged on a table beside him. Among them, one stood out—a candid shot of Himari, her vibrant spirit captured perfectly.
He picked up the photo, his heart swelling with emotion as he traced the outline of her face with his fingers. It was taken during her trip to Natlan, where the sun had blazed down, and she looked like she was melting under its warm embrace. Her light purple eyes sparkled with joy as she twirled in the sunlight, her laughter ringing out like a melody. The sun illuminated her long black hair, turning it into a cascading wave of silk. In that moment, she radiated pure happiness, a stark contrast to the shadows that often loomed over him.
His thoughts drifted to her next adventure—Fontaine. He could still picture her sitting at a quaint outdoor café, surrounded by platters of exquisite food. She had been in heaven, her eyes wide with delight as she sampled every dish presented to her. He could hear her laughter as she teased him about his inability to handle the spicy dishes. “Captain, you have to try this! It’s delicious!” she had exclaimed, shoving a bite of something spicy into his mouth, her face beaming with excitement. How could he resist that smile?
And then there was Mondstadt, the Windy Nation. Himari had been utterly enchanted by its beauty, often exclaiming how she felt alive in the fresh air that danced around her. She had spent hours wandering the markets, her eyes alight with wonder as she admired the colorful wares and listened to the lively music. “I want to come back here someday, Captain! I love it!” she had said, her voice full of dreams. The memory of her joy tugged at his heartstrings, making him long to give her that trip again.
As he stared at the photos—each one a fragment of their shared history—he couldn’t help but smile. His chest tightened with a mix of longing and warmth. Himari had a way of bringing light into his life, transforming even the darkest moments into something beautiful.
Lost in his memories, he didn’t notice when the door to his room creaked open. Himari slipped inside, her presence like a gentle breeze that swept through the room.
“What are you doing all alone in here?” she asked, a playful lilt in her voice.
Startled, Capitano looked up, quickly placing the photo back on the table as a wave of warmth spread through him at the sight of her. She walked over, her long black hair flowing like a river behind her, and before he knew it, she was sitting on his lap, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug.
“I was just… reminiscing,” he admitted, feeling her warmth seep into him. The way she fit against him felt natural, like she was meant to be there.
“About our adventures?” she guessed, pulling back slightly to meet his gaze.
He nodded, a smile playing on his lips. “You’ve brought so much joy into my life, Himari. I was just thinking about how much I love those memories.”
Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “You know, we should make more memories. I want to go back to Mondstadt, eat all the food in Fontaine, and definitely enjoy more sun in Natlan.”
“You’d melt again,” he teased lightly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
Himari pouted, feigning annoyance. “But I’ll have you there to cool me down!” she said, grinning.
Capitano chuckled, feeling the tension in his shoulders ease. “I suppose I could do that.”
With a gentle tug, he pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her waist as she nestled her head against his shoulder. They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, him enjoying the closeness, her presence a balm to his soul.
“Promise me we’ll make more memories together,” she whispered, her voice a soft murmur against his skin.
“I promise,” he replied earnestly, his heart full. “With you, every moment is worth cherishing.”
And as they held each other in the dim light of his room, surrounded by the warmth of shared memories and dreams yet to be realized, Il Capitano knew that as long as she was by his side, he could face anything the world threw at him.
The following day dawned with a fresh light spilling into the office where Il Capitano was sorting through reports and strategizing their next mission. The air was thick with tension, and his focus was interrupted when the door swung open, revealing an irate Dottore, followed closely by a fuming Columbina.
“Capitano!” Dottore declared, his voice dripping with indignation. “We need to talk.”
Columbina crossed her arms, her brows furrowed. “Yes! We want to go on the next mission!”
Capitano barely glanced up from his papers, knowing exactly where this was headed. “No.”
The word was firm and unyielding, and he returned to his work, but Dottore wasn’t so easily dismissed.
“You didn’t even hear us out!” Dottore protested, his voice rising. “This is unacceptable!”
“It’s a mission, not a holiday,” Capitano replied dryly, his expression unchanged.
Columbina leaned in, a determined glint in her eyes. “But we can help! Think of how much fun it would be! You know you’d miss us!”
“Fun? This isn’t a game, Columbina,” he said, his patience waning. “It’s dangerous, and I won’t risk your safety.”
Dottore stepped closer, an almost pleading look on his face. “We could provide invaluable assistance! You know we’re the best team—”
“You mean the best at causing chaos,” Capitano interrupted, trying to suppress a smirk.
Frustrated, Dottore turned to Columbina, who was tapping her foot in annoyance. “We need another plan.”
Just then, the door swung open again, and Himari entered, a smile lighting up her face until she caught sight of the tension in the room.
“What’s going on?” she asked, her brow furrowing in concern.
Dottore and Columbina immediately turned to her, their faces filled with hope. “Himari! You have to help us!” they exclaimed in unison.
Capitano raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. “Help you with what, exactly?”
Columbina rushed forward, her voice filled with excitement. “We want to join you and Himari on the next mission! It’ll be amazing, and we’ll show you we can handle it!”
Himari’s eyes sparkled with mischief as she glanced at Capitano, who looked like he was trying not to roll his eyes. “That could be… interesting,” she said, a smile creeping onto her lips.
“See? Even Himari thinks it could work!” Dottore said, turning his triumphant gaze back to Capitano.
“No,” Capitano replied, his tone flat and resolute.
Columbina pouted dramatically. “But why not? We’re good at what we do!”
Capitano leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. “And what you do usually involves a lot of chaos, which I do not need on a mission.”
Dottore, undeterred, leaned closer to Himari, lowering his voice conspiratorially. “You have to help us convince him. We could be a great team!”
Himari chuckled, looking from Dottore to Capitano. “I think they just want to join the adventure, Capitano. It could be fun!”
Capitano shot her a pointed look, trying to maintain his composure. “You’re not helping.”
“Oh, come on! Please?” Dottore chimed in, his excitement bubbling over. “We promise to behave!”
Capitano opened his mouth to respond, but Himari cut in, “Maybe you could let them come, just this once? It might be a good experience for everyone.”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “Fine. But if they cause one ounce of trouble—”
“We won’t!” Dottore exclaimed, a smirk spreading across his face.
“Yes! We promise!” Columbina added, bouncing on her heels with excitement.
Capitano narrowed his eyes at them, still not fully convinced. “I’ll be watching you two closely,” he warned, his tone serious.
Himari laughed softly, a lightness returning to the room. “It’ll be an adventure to remember! Just promise to work together, okay?”
As Dottore and Columbina exchanged triumphant glances, Capitano couldn’t help but let out a resigned chuckle. He had a feeling this mission was going to be anything but ordinary.

Chapter 15:
The night had settled over the estate, wrapping everything in a comforting silence. Inside Himari’s room, the soft glow of candlelight danced across the walls, casting gentle shadows that added to the serene atmosphere. Il Capitano stood at the foot of her bed, watching as she finished her usual bedtime routine.
Himari brushed her black hair, the strands glimmering in the warm light. She looked beautiful, even with the lingering signs of discomfort from earlier, her cheeks flushed and her eyes soft. He couldn’t help but admire her; she was like a delicate flower, radiant and resilient.
Once she finished, she turned to him, her expression shy yet inviting. “You can come closer,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
He stepped forward, drawn to her like a moth to a flame. “Is this where I’m supposed to tuck you in?” he teased lightly, a playful grin tugging at his lips.
She rolled her eyes, but the smile she couldn’t suppress gave away her amusement. “Maybe just sit with me for a moment?”
As he settled beside her on the bed, he felt the familiar warmth spread between them, their hearts beating in synchrony. Himari leaned into him, her head resting against his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, enjoying the peace that enveloped them.
After a few moments of comfortable silence, he tilted her chin gently, coaxing her to face him. His gaze softened as he studied her features, the way her cheeks flushed slightly under his scrutiny. He could feel the heat radiating from her skin, and it made his heart race.
“You know,” he began softly, his voice low and tender, “I love you.” The words slipped from his lips effortlessly, carrying a sincerity that made her blush deepen.
Himari’s eyes widened, and for a heartbeat, she seemed taken aback by the admission. But then her lips curved into a radiant smile, and she leaned in closer, her breath mingling with his. “I love you too, Capitano.”
With that, she closed the gap between them, pressing her lips to his in a sweet kiss. His hands found their way to her waist, pulling her even closer, savoring the warmth of her body against his. The kiss was soft and lingering, a gentle affirmation of their feelings.
Himari pulled back slightly, her cheeks still flushed, her eyes sparkling with affection. “You make me feel safe,” she murmured, her voice almost shy.
“Good,” he replied, a smile dancing on his lips. “You should always feel safe with me.”
With her heart racing, she leaned in for another kiss, this one deeper and more fervent. Il Capitano deepened the kiss, pouring all his love and devotion into that single moment. The world outside faded away, leaving only the two of them wrapped in their own bubble of warmth and affection.
As they finally broke apart, breathless and smiling, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly. “I could get used to this bedtime routine.”
Himari giggled, her eyes twinkling. “You’d better, because I’m not letting you go anywhere.”
He grinned, feeling a sense of contentment settle in his chest. “Then I suppose I’m stuck with you.”
“Forever,” she replied, her voice filled with certainty.
As they nestled closer together, Himari resting her head on his chest, the warmth of their connection filled the room, wrapping around them like a soft blanket. Il Capitano closed his eyes, feeling grateful for these quiet moments with her, knowing that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
---
The sun had just begun to rise, casting a warm golden hue over the horizon. Himari stood on the balcony of her room, wrapped in a soft shawl, the cool morning breeze ruffling her hair. She leaned against the railing, her heart fluttering as she watched Il Capitano in the courtyard below.
His usual stoic demeanor was replaced by an intensity that drew her in. He was training, his powerful body glistening with a sheen of sweat as he moved with practiced grace. Without his shirt, his toned muscles rippled with each strike, and the sight sent a warmth flooding through her.
“Wow…” she murmured softly to herself, her cheeks flushing as she couldn’t help but admire him. It was one thing to see him in his armor, but another entirely to witness the raw strength of the man she loved. Every swing of his sword was mesmerizing, a perfect blend of power and precision.
Unbeknownst to Himari, her presence had not gone unnoticed. A group of soldiers training nearby stole glances in her direction, their focus quickly shifting from their own drills to the captivating scene unfolding on the balcony. Murmurs of appreciation rippled through the ranks, and a few of them couldn’t help but chuckle as they tried to regain their composure.
“Look at her,” one soldier whispered, nudging his comrade. “How can he concentrate with her watching?”
“She’s like a goddess up there,” another chimed in, smirking as he adjusted his stance. “Who wouldn’t be distracted?”
Il Capitano, focused on his training, was blissfully unaware of the stir he had caused among the men. His movements were fluid, each strike echoing with the weight of his dedication and discipline. It wasn’t until he paused for a moment to catch his breath that he finally noticed the glances being thrown his way.
Following their gazes, he looked up to see Himari watching him from the balcony, her expression a mixture of admiration and playful embarrassment. A smile broke through his stoic facade, and he couldn’t help but feel a rush of pride at the sight of her.
“Himari!” he called out, his voice carrying through the courtyard, instantly drawing the attention of both the soldiers and her.
Her cheeks turned crimson as she realized she had been caught staring. “Good morning, Capitano!” she replied, her voice a little too bright, as if to cover her embarrassment.
“Care to join me?” he asked with a teasing grin, his tone light.
“Join you?” she echoed, glancing at the soldiers who were now trying to maintain their focus, but their smirks and glances betrayed them. “I think I’m fine up here!”
Capitano chuckled, the sound deep and warm. “Suit yourself. But you’re missing the best part of the training.”
The soldiers laughed, but Il Capitano’s gaze remained fixed on Himari, completely unfazed by their distraction. He resumed his training, but now his movements held a hint of showmanship, the way he flexed his muscles and demonstrated his strength taking on an added intensity.
As the soldiers resumed their drills, the atmosphere was charged with laughter and camaraderie, but for Himari, the world had narrowed to just the two of them. Every swing of his sword, every powerful stance, seemed to echo her heartbeat.
She leaned on the railing, mesmerized, her earlier embarrassment forgotten. In that moment, it was just her and Il Capitano—their bond strong enough to overcome any distractions around them.

Chapter 14:
Il Capitano stood at the balcony of his quarters, the cool night air brushing against his skin, a stark contrast to the warmth that had enveloped him just hours earlier. He gazed out at the moonlit landscape, lost in thought, replaying the events of the day. It had been an ordinary afternoon, or so he had thought. But everything changed when Himari had turned to him, her light purple eyes filled with something he couldn't quite place.
“Not tonight, Capitano,” she had said gently, but there was an unmistakable finality in her voice.
The rejection hit him like a physical blow. They had been intimate countless times, sharing moments that made him feel alive in ways he had never imagined. To be denied this time was confusing and unsettling. Why now?
In the depths of his mind, he couldn't shake the feeling of dejection. It was a sensation he hadn’t encountered before, a flicker of vulnerability that he found disconcerting.
“What does it mean?” he muttered to himself, pacing back and forth. He needed to talk to someone, to make sense of the whirlwind of emotions.
Later that evening, he found himself in Pierro’s office, the second-in-command buried in paperwork. Il Capitano leaned against the doorframe, trying to appear casual, though he felt anything but.
“Pierro,” he started, his tone light, trying to downplay the heaviness in his heart. “I need your advice about… a situation.”
Pierro looked up, his eyebrows arching in curiosity. “Oh? What kind of situation?”
“Well, it’s about a friend of mine,” Capitano said, feigning nonchalance. “He’s been dating someone, but today she… rejected him.”
Pierro leaned back in his chair, a knowing smirk creeping onto his face. “I see. And how does your friend feel about it?”
Capitano scratched the back of his neck, trying to keep his expression neutral. “He’s confused. They’ve been close, and this was the first time she said no. He doesn’t understand what it means.”
Pierro's smirk widened, clearly enjoying the exchange. “Well, it could mean a few things. Maybe she’s not ready, or perhaps she has something else on her mind.”
“Right,” Capitano said, nodding slowly. “But it’s… different. They’ve been intimate before. It’s strange for her to suddenly pull back.”
Pierro leaned forward, resting his elbows on his desk. “Is your friend sure it’s not something he’s done? Sometimes we don’t realize how our actions affect others.”
Capitano frowned, his mind racing back to their earlier conversations. “I don’t think he’s done anything wrong. He treats her well. It’s just… strange.”
Pierro’s expression softened slightly, but his teasing demeanor remained. “Maybe your friend needs to communicate more with her. Ask her directly what’s going on. You know, talk about feelings and stuff.”
Capitano’s stomach twisted at the thought. “Talking? That sounds risky. What if he gets rejected again?”
Pierro chuckled, the sound echoing in the quiet room. “Well, he needs to be brave, then. Otherwise, he’ll never know.”
Sighing heavily, Capitano looked out the window, the night’s silence amplifying his turmoil. “You’re right. He should be brave.”
“Does your friend plan to?” Pierro asked, feigning innocence.
Capitano straightened, feeling slightly exposed. “Yes, he’ll figure it out. He’s… strong.”
“Good to hear. Tell him not to worry too much. Women can be complicated, but honesty is usually the best approach,” Pierro advised.
“Sure,” Capitano replied, his mind still swirling with thoughts of Himari’s rejection.
As he left Pierro’s office, he couldn’t shake the feeling of confusion and disappointment. The advice may have been sound, but facing Himari felt daunting now. Would he really have the courage to ask her what was on her mind? Could he be brave enough to navigate this new territory of emotions?
He sighed, staring at the moonlit sky as he returned to his chambers, trying to decipher what this meant for him and Himari. No matter what he told Pierro, the truth was clear: he was deeply invested in her, and understanding her heart would take more courage than he had anticipated.
With a heavy heart and a mind swirling with questions, Il Capitano made his way to Himari’s room. The soft glow of candlelight seeped through the cracks of the door, illuminating the hallway as he approached. He needed to see her, to understand the reason behind her sudden rejection, even if it terrified him to confront the situation head-on.
Knocking lightly, he waited for her response. “Himari?” he called softly.
After a moment, she replied, her voice faint, “Come in.”
As he entered, his heart sank at the sight before him. Himari was sitting on her bed, her usually vibrant demeanor dulled by discomfort. She had a blanket wrapped around her, and her face was slightly pale, a look of pain etched across her features.
“Himari, what’s wrong?” he asked, his voice filled with concern as he rushed to her side.
She offered a weak smile, but it did little to reassure him. “It’s nothing, really,” she replied, though her tone suggested otherwise.
Capitano knelt beside her, noting the way she shifted uncomfortably. “It doesn’t look like nothing. Are you in pain?”
Himari nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I… I started my period, and it’s been really painful.”
His heart ached at the sight of her discomfort. He had seen her brave through countless challenges, but this was different. It was a reminder that she was human, vulnerable, and even the strongest among them had moments of weakness.
“Why didn’t you say something?” he asked gently, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.
“I didn’t want to worry you,” she murmured, looking down. “I thought it would pass quickly.”
Capitano shook his head, frustration brewing inside him—not at her, but at the situation. “You should have called for me. I would have come right away.”
She glanced up at him, a hint of warmth returning to her eyes. “I didn’t want to bother you. I know you’ve been busy.”
He scoffed softly, feeling the weight of her words. “You could never be a bother, Himari. You mean too much to me for that.”
There was a pause, her gaze searching his, and for a moment, he felt the air thicken with unspoken words. He remembered his earlier conversation with Pierro and the false pretense of talking about a friend. “I should’ve been here for you. I didn’t realize you were going through this alone.”
Himari bit her lip, her expression softening. “I’m sorry for rejecting you earlier. It’s just… it hurts, and I didn’t want to add to your worries.”
He frowned, feeling a mix of relief and concern wash over him. “You never have to apologize for that. I want to support you, no matter what. Just tell me how I can help.”
With a shaky breath, she leaned back against the pillows, wincing slightly. “Just… stay with me? I don’t want to be alone right now.”
Capitano’s heart swelled at her request. He nodded, settling beside her on the bed, careful not to encroach on her space. “Of course. I’m right here.”
As the minutes passed, he felt a mix of helplessness and determination. He wanted to take away her pain, to be the protector he had always aspired to be. “Do you need anything? A warm compress? Tea?” he asked, mentally preparing to rush to the kitchen if needed.
“Tea would be nice,” she said softly, a hint of gratitude in her eyes. “And maybe just some company.”
Capitano smiled, feeling a bit of the tension ease. “I can do that.”
He stood up and moved to the door, glancing back at her. “I’ll be right back.”
As he left the room, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of resolve building inside him. This moment with Himari was a reminder of their bond and the importance of being there for one another, not just in moments of joy but also in times of pain.
After fetching the tea, he returned to find her curled up with the blanket, eyes closed but clearly awake.
“Here you go,” he said softly, handing her the steaming cup.
She took it gratefully, her fingers brushing against his as she held it. “Thank you, Capitano. You always know how to make things better.”
He sat beside her, content just to be near her, and watched as she sipped the tea, her expression slowly softening.
“You’re the strongest person I know,” he said, the words feeling true in every sense. “You don’t have to be brave all the time. Let me share the burden with you.”
Himari looked at him, her eyes glimmering with appreciation. “You already do, more than you realize.”
As the night wore on, they talked quietly, sharing stories and laughter, the warmth of their connection growing stronger despite the pain that lingered in the air. Capitano held her close, his heart steady in the knowledge that he would always be there for her—no matter the obstacles they faced.

Chapter 13:
In the heart of Snezhnaya cold, imposing castle, the kitchen buzzed with an unusual energy. Today, the stoic Il Capitano had traded his usual menacing armor for a lighthearted, albeit slightly oversized, apron that read, “Kiss the Cook.” This drastic transformation had the potential for both disaster and delight, especially with Himari in mind.
“Are you sure you know how to make chocolate?” Columbina teased, her laughter ringing like a soft bell. She stood beside him, hands on her hips, clearly enjoying the sight of the normally serious Captain in such a playful situation.
“I do not need your distractions, Columbina,” he replied, his voice steady but tinged with irritation. His dark blue eyes narrowed as he melted chocolate over the stove, a frown deepening his brow.
“Distractions? I’m just here to help!” she insisted, moving closer to observe the process. “Besides, I’d hate to see you burn the chocolate. Again.”
Il Capitano shot her a look that could freeze water, but there was a flicker of amusement in his expression. Just then, a loud clatter erupted as Dottore burst into the kitchen, his usually collected demeanor replaced with a manic excitement that immediately sent both Capitano and Columbina on high alert.
“What’s happening here?” he demanded, rubbing his hands together with malicious glee.
“We’re making chocolate,” Capitano stated, his stoicism unyielding.
Dottore’s eyes widened as he leaned in, his curiosity piqued. “Chocolate? And you’re letting her help? How… quaint.”
“I can handle this myself,” the captain snapped, turning back to the pot. But Columbina couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
“Sure, you can, Captain! Just remember, chocolate is meant to be sweet, not—”
“Shut it,” he growled, but the hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
Meanwhile, Arlecchino stood at the edge of the kitchen, arms crossed, a sigh escaping her lips as she watched the chaos unfold. “Why do I even bother?” she muttered, leaning against the wall with a bemused expression.
Suddenly, the tension escalated. Dottore, unable to resist, grabbed a handful of flour and, with a swift flick of his wrist, sent it flying toward Columbina.
“Dottore!” she screeched, the white powder landing directly on her face.
The captain turned just in time to see the flour cloud envelop her, and a rare smile broke through his stoic facade. “Looks like someone just got … baked.” he quipped, earning a glare from Columbina that would make any foe tremble.
“You will pay for this, Dottore!” she declared, wiping her face with a towel, only to find more flour splattered across her apron.
“Oh, please,” Dottore said dismissively, grabbing a piece of the chocolate mixture and popping it into his mouth. His eyes widened, the taste overpowering any other flavor. “This is… quite good!”
As if on cue, Dottore began munching on the chocolate, savoring the sweetness, when the kitchen erupted in chaos.
“You’re supposed to be making chocolate, not eating it!” Columbina shouted, her face scrunching in mock fury.
“Dottore! That’s not how you make it!” Capitano added, his voice finally breaking from its usual calm.
Dottore shrugged, his mouth still full, “I’m enhancing it!” He smirked, his eyes gleaming with mischief.
“Enhancing? You’re ruining everything!” Columbina fumed. “Get ready for a floury fight!”
With that, she lunged at Dottore, who narrowly dodged her flour-covered hands. The room transformed into a battleground of sweet and savory chaos as Capitano, finally breaking free from his stoic demeanor, joined Columbina. Flour flew in every direction, and laughter mingled with the commotion as Dottore backtracked, trying to escape the wrath of two angry chefs.
“Get away from my chocolate!” Dottore shouted, his voice muffled by a mouthful of confection.
Arlecchino couldn’t take it anymore. “This is ridiculous,” she said, shaking her head with a chuckle.
But the fight continued, with flour bombs exchanged like artillery fire. The stoic Captain, now fully immersed in the fun, threw a handful of flour at Dottore, aiming perfectly to hit him in the face.
“Stoic, my foot!” Arlecchino laughed, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
Just then, the door swung open, and Himari entered the kitchen, her gentle smile instantly replaced by surprise as a flying bowl of flour came hurtling toward her.
“Dottore!” she gasped, but it was too late. The bowl collided with her, showering her in a cloud of white powder.
“Himari!” Capitano exclaimed, dropping the flour bag he had just grabbed, his eyes wide with horror.
“Are you okay?” Columbina rushed to her side, struggling to contain her laughter.
Himari blinked, stunned and covered in flour, but a smile broke through her shock. “I’m fine! Just a little messy.”
Capitano’s expression shifted from panic to amusement, the corners of his mouth twitching upward. “Looks like you joined the fun,” he remarked, and the warmth in his tone made Himari’s heart flutter.
With flour in her hair and chocolate smeared across her cheek, Himari giggled, taking a step back. “You all are impossible!”
“Let’s see how you handle a chocolate fight!” Dottore challenged, readying another handful of the sweet mix.
Himari raised an eyebrow, a playful smile dancing on her lips. “Challenge accepted!”
As the kitchen descended further into chaos, laughter filled the air, drowning out the cold of Snezhnaya and warming their hearts in the sweetest of ways. Flour flew, chocolate splattered, and in the midst of it all, a new camaraderie formed, cemented by the fun and silliness of the day.
In the end, despite the mess, love and laughter prevailed, making this day in the kitchen one to remember.
Later that night, the castle settled into a hushed stillness. The laughter and chaos of the kitchen lingered in the air like a sweet perfume, but in his chambers, Il Capitano found himself alone with his thoughts. He sat on the edge of the bed in Himari's room, his usual stoic demeanor returning, a heavy sigh escaping his lips.
He couldn’t shake the disappointment of not being able to give her the chocolate he had promised. The thought nagged at him, contrasting starkly with the day’s frivolity. Even now, after their lighthearted battle in the kitchen, he felt a sense of failure. “How could I have let Dottore ruin it?” he murmured to himself, frustration etched into his chiseled features.
Just then, the soft sound of the door creaking open caught his attention. Himari entered, her light purple eyes sparkling in the dim light of the room. She wore a gentle smile, her hair cascading down her shoulders like a dark waterfall.
“What’s wrong, Your Grace?” she asked softly, concern lacing her voice as she approached him.
Capitano looked up, his heart aching at her sweetness. “I couldn’t give you the chocolate. It’s… foolish, really.”
“It’s not foolish at all,” she replied, stepping closer, her presence warming the coldness that had settled around him. “We had fun today. That’s what matters.”
But despite her kind words, he felt a weight on his chest. “But I wanted to make you something special. Instead, I ended up making a mess.”
Himari shook her head, her gentle hand reaching out to cup his cheek. “You made me laugh, and that’s worth more than any chocolate. Besides, we can always make it again.”
Her touch sent a warm shiver down his spine, breaking through his stoic shell. In that moment, he found solace in her presence, the burdens of the day beginning to fade away. He leaned into her hand, his eyes softening as he gazed at her.
“Himari…” he whispered; his voice barely audible.
Without a word, she wrapped her arms around him in a comforting embrace, pulling him close. His heart swelled at her warmth, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over him. “You’re too good to me,” he murmured against her shoulder.
“I’m just being honest,” she replied, her voice steady and soothing. “You deserve to be happy, Captain.”
As she pulled back slightly, their eyes met, and in that instant, the world around them disappeared. In a moment fueled by unspoken emotions, Himari leaned in, pressing her soft lips against his. The kiss was sweet and tender, igniting a warmth that spread through him.
Capitano hesitated for just a heartbeat before kissing her back, deepening the connection. It felt like coming home. He couldn’t get enough of her—her kindness, her laughter, and the way she made him feel alive again.
When they finally pulled apart, she smiled at him, her cheeks slightly flushed. But he wasn’t finished. He leaned in again, capturing her lips with his in another kiss, slower this time, savoring every second.
And again, he kissed her—three times, each one a promise of something deeper, something he had been longing for. With each kiss, he felt the weight of the world lift just a little more, and for the first time that night, a genuine smile broke across his face.
“You have no idea how much I needed this,” he confessed, his voice low and earnest.
“Maybe I do,” she replied, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “And maybe I needed it too.”
As they sat there together, surrounded by the dim glow of candlelight, the heaviness of the day melted away. In the quiet of the night, they found solace in each other, the sweetness of their connection lingering in the air—a promise of joy, laughter, and the many adventures yet to come.

Chapter 12:
The sun was setting as Himari made her way back to the estate, the warm hues of dusk painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. She felt a sense of accomplishment swelling in her chest; the mission had been successful, and she was eager to share the news with Il Capitano.
As she approached the entrance, she caught her reflection in a nearby window. The shorter hair that framed her face was a bold change from the long strands that had flowed down her back. She had decided to cut it above her shoulders during her travels, wanting a fresh start after everything she had faced. It felt liberating, though she was nervous about how Il Capitano would react.
Stepping through the doors, she was greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of the estate. Soldiers bustled about, but it was the quiet stillness of the hallway leading to Il Capitano’s office that drew her in. She hesitated for a moment, her heart racing, before knocking softly on the door.
“Your grace? It’s me, Himari.”
“Come in,” his deep voice called out, a hint of curiosity in his tone.
Taking a breath, she pushed the door open. Il Capitano sat behind his desk, papers scattered in front of him, but the moment his eyes fell on her, all other thoughts seemed to vanish. He looked up, and for a moment, time stood still.
“Himari…” he breathed, standing up slowly. His expression shifted from surprise to awe as he took in her new hairstyle. “You cut your hair.”
She smiled nervously, brushing her fingers through the short strands. “I did. I thought it would be a good change after the mission.”
His gaze softened, and a hint of a smile tugged at his lips. “It looks… beautiful.” There was sincerity in his voice that made her cheeks warm.
“Thank you,” she replied, feeling a rush of joy at his compliment. “I wanted something that felt lighter, you know?”
Il Capitano stepped closer, examining her new look. “It suits you. But I must say, I’m not used to seeing you like this.”
She chuckled lightly, relieved by his reaction. “It was time for a change. And besides, it was getting in the way during the mission.”
His brow furrowed slightly at the mention of her going alone, concern creeping into his expression. “You went alone?”
Himari nodded, determined to reassure him. “I handled it well! I promise. Everything went smoothly.”
Il Capitano sighed, a mix of admiration and worry in his eyes. “Just be careful next time. I worry about you.”
Her heart swelled at his concern. “I appreciate that. But I can handle myself, I swear!”
He regarded her with a blend of pride and protectiveness, a faint smile still lingering on his lips. “I know you can. But that doesn’t mean I won’t worry.”
They stood there for a moment, the air filled with unspoken words and feelings. Then, as if breaking a spell, Il Capitano reached out, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “You really do look amazing.”
Feeling emboldened by his praise, she grinned. “Maybe I’ll get used to it, especially if you keep complimenting me.”
“I’ll make sure to,” he said, his tone teasing yet sincere.
In that moment, all the tension and worry melted away. Himari felt lighter, both from the haircut and the connection they shared, and she knew that together, they could face whatever came their way.
After the initial flurry of compliments and admiration for her new haircut, Himari felt a surge of curiosity about Il Capitano’s life. They had been through so much together, yet there were still things she didn’t fully understand.
“Can I ask you something?” she said, her tone turning serious as she glanced up at him.
“Of course,” he replied, a slight furrow forming on his brow, signaling his attention.
“How old are you, really?” she asked, leaning against the desk, her eyes searching his face. “I mean… you look so young, but I know you’ve been around for a long time.”
Il Capitano’s expression shifted, a hint of vulnerability breaking through his stoic facade. “I’m 110 years old,” he admitted, his voice low. “It’s… complicated.”
“Complicated how?” Himari pressed gently, intrigued.
“I carry a curse of immortality. I’m trapped in this body that appears to be 30, but I’ve lived many lifetimes,” he explained, his gaze distant, as if he were recalling memories long buried.
She felt a pang of sympathy. “That must be… difficult,” she said softly. “What was your life like before? Did you have friends? Family?”
He paused, contemplating her questions. “I had many acquaintances and companions, but time tends to take them away. I’ve seen loved ones grow old and die while I remain unchanged.”
Her heart ached at the thought. “What about death? Have you ever thought about it?”
His expression darkened for a moment. “I’ve thought about it more times than I can count. But it’s a complicated feeling. Part of me longs for it, to escape the pain of watching everything I care about fade away. But another part of me… is terrified of being alone.”
Himari’s eyes softened, understanding the weight of his words. “What if I die? What will happen to you?” The innocence of her question hung in the air, heavy with implications.
He stepped closer, his demeanor shifting as he took her hands in his. “Himari, don’t say that. You are the light in my life. The thought of losing you is…” He hesitated, searching for the right words. “I can’t bear it.”
She felt a lump form in her throat. “I just want to know… would you want to go on if I wasn’t here?”
Il Capitano’s grip on her hands tightened, his gaze intense. “No. I wouldn’t want to. You give me purpose. You make this eternal life worth living.”
Himari felt warmth flood through her at his words. “But you’ve lived so long, surely you could find meaning again?”
He shook his head, his eyes darkening with emotion. “Meaning without you? It’s impossible.”
Unable to hold back any longer, he closed the distance between them, his lips crashing against hers in a heated kiss. It was fierce and passionate, as if he were trying to convey everything he felt in that single moment. The kiss deepened, both of them forgetting the world around them, lost in the intensity of their emotions.
When they finally pulled apart, both breathless, Himari looked up at him, her heart racing. “I… I didn’t mean to make you upset,” she stammered, her cheeks flushed.
“You didn’t,” he replied, his voice low and tender. “But your questions remind me of how fragile life is, and I can’t stand the thought of losing you.”
“I promise I’m not going anywhere,” she assured him, a soft smile spreading across her lips. “We’ll face whatever comes together.”
Il Capitano nodded, a hint of relief washing over his features. “Together,” he echoed, his hand brushing her cheek gently.
In that moment, the weight of his immortality and the uncertainty of their future seemed a little lighter, as long as they had each other.

Chapter 11:
Il Capitano had been patient—perhaps too patient.
For days now, he had noticed something unusual in Himari’s routine. Every afternoon, without fail, she would disappear for hours. By noon, she was gone, slipping out of the Fatui headquarters and making her way into town. And by nightfall, she would return, always with a satisfied smile but never offering any explanation. When he asked her where she had been, Himari would only give him vague, evasive answers—never anything concrete.
He didn’t like it.
Il Capitano, ever stoic but fiercely protective, found himself growing increasingly uneasy. Watching her sneak away without an explanation was not something he could simply ignore. His mind wandered to the possibilities—was she meeting someone? Was there something she was keeping from him?
The captain’s sharp gaze followed her again as she slipped out that afternoon, her long black hair flowing behind her. He had half a mind to confront her, to demand an explanation right then and there. But he held back, waiting for the right moment. Still, his patience was wearing thin.
This had been going on for nearly a week now, and while Himari remained as kind and gentle as ever, she was avoiding his questions. Capitano could sense it. Every time he tried to ask where she had been or why she was always in town, she would skillfully divert the conversation.
One day, as Capitano stood near the entrance to the town square, watching her from a distance, he noticed her slipping into a small shop on the corner. It was a patisserie, one that had only recently been recommended by Columbina and Arlecchino—though why Himari would be visiting it so often remained a mystery to him.
It gnawed at him.
What was she doing there?
Hours passed, and as the sun began to set, Himari finally emerged from the shop, holding a wrapped box in her hands. Her expression was soft, almost secretive, and as she began to make her way back to headquarters, Capitano felt a knot tighten in his chest.
He had never felt this before—this unfamiliar, almost jealous feeling that came with not knowing what Himari was up to. It made him feel... uneasy, as if something precious was slipping from his grasp.
When she returned that evening, Capitano was waiting for her.
She walked through the doors, her usual serene smile in place, but as soon as she saw him standing there, his arms crossed and his dark blue eyes narrowing slightly, her steps faltered.
“Himari,” he said, his voice low but firm.
“Your Grace,” she replied softly, her eyes meeting his, though there was a hint of something playful behind her usual calmness. “You’re waiting for me.”
“I’ve been waiting for you every day,” Capitano said, his tone a touch more serious than usual. “What have you been doing in town?”
Himari blinked, her expression carefully neutral as she stepped closer, placing her hand lightly on his arm. “I’ve just been… running some errands.”
“For hours? Every day?” he pressed, not letting her evade the question this time. “You’ve been avoiding me.”
Himari bit her lip, clearly trying to keep the secret she was holding close. She glanced away, as if considering her options. Capitano could feel his frustration rising. He trusted her implicitly, but this secrecy was driving him mad.
“Himari,” he said, his voice dropping to a near whisper. “If there’s something I need to know, tell me now.”
She looked up at him, her light purple eyes softening as she reached out, placing the wrapped box in his hands. “It’s… a surprise,” she finally admitted, her voice gentle.
Capitano frowned, glancing at the box before looking back at her. “A surprise?”
“Yes,” she said with a small smile. “And I wasn’t avoiding you, I just… I wanted it to be perfect.”
His gaze softened as he looked down at the box. “What is it?”
Himari laughed softly, her hand gently touching his. “It’s for us. For our anniversary. You didn’t think I’d forget, did you?”
The tension in Capitano’s chest loosened immediately, his frustration melting away in an instant. She had been keeping a secret—but it was for him. For *them*.
“I got the idea from Arlecchino, Himari continued, a light blush dusting her cheeks as she explained. “And Columbina recommended the patisserie. I’ve been working on a special cake for us.”
“A cake,” Capitano echoed, his voice softening. His heart swelled with relief, affection, and perhaps a little bit of embarrassment for having doubted her.
Himari nodded, her eyes glowing with love. “I just wanted it to be something special for you, Your Grace. Something to celebrate us.”
Capitano’s expression shifted, his cold exterior melting as he gently placed the box on the table beside them. He cupped her face in his hands, leaning down until their foreheads touched.
“You’ve been driving me insane these past few days,” he whispered, his voice laced with both amusement and tenderness. “I thought you were hiding something.”
“I was,” she teased, her lips curving into a smile. “But only because I wanted to surprise you.”
His hands slid from her face, wrapping around her waist as he pulled her close. “You didn’t have to do all that,” he murmured. “You are enough for me, Himari.”
She smiled up at him, her heart full of affection. “I wanted to. Because I love you.”
Capitano’s grip tightened slightly, his dark blue eyes softening in a way only she could bring out of him. “I love you too,” he whispered, his voice hushed but sincere.
And then, with a soft chuckle, Capitano leaned down and pressed his lips to hers in a tender, loving kiss. As they stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, the secret of the past week forgotten, Himari knew that every second had been worth it—for the cake, the surprise, and most of all, for him.
Their anniversary had never felt sweeter.
__
Later that evening, after Capitano and Himari’s sweet reunion, they sat together in one of the common rooms of the Fatui headquarters. The atmosphere was calm, with only the crackling of the fireplace breaking the silence. That was, until Columbina and Arlecchino entered.
Columbina, ever the gleeful instigator, was the first to speak, her eyes sparkling with mischief as she approached Capitano and Himari. "So, how did the surprise go?" she asked, a teasing lilt in her voice. “Was the cake to your liking, Captain?”
Capitano narrowed his eyes slightly, turning to look at her. “Next time, if you tell her something,” he said, his voice firm but not harsh, “tell me.”
Columbina blinked in mock innocence, her lips curving into a mischievous smile. “But it was a secret,” she replied, drawing out the word like a melody.
Before Capitano could respond, Arlecchino, standing just behind Columbina with her usual unbothered demeanor, rolled her eyes. “Don’t you know what a secret is, Captain?” she said dryly, crossing her arms. “The whole point is to *not* tell you.”
Himari stifled a giggle, knowing that Arlecchino wasn’t exactly wrong. Capitano, however, let out a small, exasperated sigh, though the amusement in his eyes gave him away.
Columbina grinned wider, clearly enjoying herself. “Besides, it was worth it, wasn’t it? Our dear Innamorata worked so hard, all for you.”
Capitano glanced at Himari, who smiled softly at him, and he couldn’t help but let his serious expression soften. “It was,” he admitted, his tone softer now.
Arlecchino snorted. “Then quit complaining. You got your cake—and your lady.”
Columbina giggled, nudging Arlecchino playfully. “See? Everything turned out fine!”
Capitano sighed again, though there was a glimmer of gratitude in his eyes as he glanced at Himari. Despite all the secrecy and teasing, he couldn’t argue with that.
Everything had, indeed, turned out fine.

Chapter 10:
Back in Snezhnaya, the cold winds swept through the Fatui headquarters as the soldiers went about their daily routines. The war in Natlan was over, and life had returned to a semblance of normalcy for the Fatui Harbingers.
Il Capitano, ever stoic and dutiful, oversaw the training grounds where soldiers honed their skills. His imposing figure stood tall, his dark blue eyes scanning the area with quiet authority. The soldiers respected him deeply, though they dared not approach him casually—except when their curiosity got the better of them.
That morning, a few of the younger recruits gathered near the captain, watching him closely as they finished their drills. One of them, bolder than the rest, nudged his companion.
"Hey, should we ask him? I mean, he seems to know Lady Innamorata pretty well," the soldier whispered, glancing nervously at the captain.
The other soldier hesitated but nodded. "Yeah, but be careful. You know how he is."
With a gulp, the bold soldier stepped forward, clearing his throat awkwardly. “Uh, Captain, sir?”
Il Capitano turned his gaze on the soldier, his deep blue eyes narrowing slightly as he acknowledged him with a curt nod. "Yes?"
The soldier straightened his posture immediately, trying not to falter under the captain’s intimidating presence. "I-I was just wondering, uh..." he stammered, his courage faltering under Capitano's icy stare. "About... Lady Innamorata."
At the mention of Himari, something subtle flickered in Capitano’s eyes, but his face remained impassive. “What about her?” he asked, his voice calm but with an unmistakable edge.
The soldier glanced at his companions for support, but they were too far away to be of any real help. Gritting his teeth, he continued. “Well, some of us were curious. Lady Innamorata is… well, she’s beautiful, kind, and—”
“And?” Capitano’s tone was sharper now, though still controlled.
The soldier swallowed hard, sensing the shift in the captain’s demeanor. “We were wondering… if, uh… she might be open to, you know, dating?” The words came out in a rush, and the soldier immediately regretted them as soon as they left his mouth.
A heavy silence fell over the training grounds. The other soldiers had stopped what they were doing, watching the exchange with wide eyes, unsure of what the captain’s reaction would be.
Il Capitano’s gaze turned cold, and for a long, tense moment, he said nothing. His jaw clenched slightly, and the temperature around him seemed to drop, his presence becoming even more imposing. The soldier visibly paled, realizing he might have made a grave mistake.
"Date her?" Capitano's voice was low, like a distant storm rumbling on the horizon. The soldier could feel the weight of his words, as if the captain’s icy wrath was barely being contained.
"Y-yes, sir," the soldier stammered, wishing he could take it all back. "I mean, she’s… really nice and all… and we thought maybe one of us could—"
Before he could finish, Capitano took a slow, deliberate step toward the soldier. His towering form loomed over him, casting a shadow that seemed to swallow the nervous recruit whole.
“Lady Innamorata,” Capitano began, his voice colder than the Snezhnaya winter, “is not available for you—or anyone else—to ‘date.’”
The soldier flinched, his face going pale, but Capitano wasn’t finished.
“She is beyond your reach,” Capitano continued, his eyes flashing with a possessiveness that was unmistakable. “And if any of you have the foolish notion of pursuing her, I suggest you reconsider. Immediately.”
The bold soldier took a step back, trembling slightly. “O-of course, Captain! We—we didn’t know, sir. We just thought…”
Capitano’s gaze softened ever so slightly, but there was still a dangerous undercurrent to his words. “You thought wrong.”
With that, Capitano turned his back on the group, signaling that the conversation was over. The soldiers, now realizing how deeply they had misstepped, exchanged nervous glances before quickly returning to their drills, too scared to bring the topic up again.
As Capitano walked away, his mind was already drifting to Himari, who was likely in the medical wing of the compound. A faint smile tugged at his lips as he thought of her. She was his—his to protect, his to cherish. And while the others may not have known it, he was determined to keep their bond sacred and undisturbed.
Later that day, Capitano made his way to her. The moment he stepped into the quiet sanctuary where Himari was tending to her patients, his gaze softened. Her long black hair cascaded down her back, and her gentle smile lit up the room as she spoke kindly to those under her care.
When she saw him, her face brightened, and she excused herself from her work, walking over to him with that graceful, calm presence he loved so much.
“How was your day?” Himari asked softly, her eyes warm with affection.
Capitano paused, then smirked slightly, his voice quieter now that they were alone. “It was… interesting.”
“Oh?” Himari tilted her head, curious. “What happened?”
“The soldiers seem to think they can ask you out on dates,” Capitano said, his tone dry, though there was a hint of amusement in his eyes as he recalled the earlier conversation.
Himari blinked in surprise, then laughed softly, a sound that always managed to melt the captain’s heart. “They don’t know?”
Capitano shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Not yet. But I made it clear you’re off-limits.”
Himari blushed, her heart fluttering at his words. She stepped closer, resting her hand on his arm as she gazed up at him. “And here I thought I was being subtle.”
Capitano’s eyes softened as he cupped her cheek with his hand, his thumb gently brushing over her skin. “Subtle or not, you’re mine, Himari. And no one will come between us.”
She smiled warmly; her heart full. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
With a quiet chuckle, Capitano leaned down, brushing a soft kiss against her forehead. “Good,” he whispered, his voice filled with affection.
As they stood together in the peaceful quiet of the room, Himari knew that no matter what the world thought, they would always have each other—and that was more than enough.
__
Dottore strolled through the halls of the Fatui headquarters, his usual unsettling grin playing on his lips as he noticed a group of soldiers huddled together, their faces twisted in dejection. Normally, such a sight would barely catch his attention, but the sheer misery emanating from the group was almost too amusing to ignore. He raised an eyebrow, deciding to indulge in a bit of curiosity for once.
As he approached, the soldiers didn’t notice him at first. Their heads hung low, muttering amongst themselves about something that had clearly struck a blow to their collective morale.
Dottore, ever the provocateur, tilted his head and asked in a voice dripping with faux concern, “Now, why do you lot look like you've just lost a war?”
Startled by his sudden appearance, the soldiers scrambled to attention. But even then, they couldn’t hide the deep sorrow etched on their faces.
One of them, still looking utterly defeated, sighed. “It’s… it’s Lady Innamorata, sir.”
Dottore’s curiosity piqued at the mention of Himari. He crossed his arms, a sharp grin spreading across his face. “Oh? What about her?”
The soldier hesitated, glancing nervously at his comrades before speaking again. “W-we were… wondering if, um, maybe one of us could… you know, ask her out.”
Dottore's grin widened. “Ah, I see,” he said, his tone sly. “And how did that go?”
The soldier groaned, rubbing his forehead as though recounting a painful memory. “Captain shut us down immediately, sir. Said she’s ‘off-limits.’ We didn’t know… she was already spoken for.”
The other soldiers mumbled in agreement, clearly still devastated by Capitano’s swift and cold rejection.
Dottore’s sharp eyes gleamed with amusement. He was well aware of the relationship between Il Capitano and Himari, though he rarely bothered to comment on such trivial matters. Still, seeing these soldiers so heartbroken? He couldn’t resist twisting the knife just a bit further.
“So, none of you knew?” Dottore asked, feigning surprise. His voice dropped into a conspiratorial whisper, though the grin never left his face. “The Captain and Lady Innamorata have been *dating* for quite some time.”
The words hung in the air like a death sentence.
There was a collective gasp from the group, followed by a stunned silence. Slowly, the realization of what Dottore had just said began to sink in. Their captain—*their* untouchable, stern, and stoic Captain—was already in a relationship with the one woman they all admired from afar.
One of the soldiers, the same one who had dared approach Capitano earlier, looked utterly devastated. “D-dating?” he choked out. His face paled as though the very life had been drained from him.
“Yes, dating,” Dottore confirmed, his voice dripping with amusement. “And rather… seriously, if I might add. You really had no chance from the start.”
Another soldier whimpered audibly. “Why… why didn’t anyone tell us?”
Dottore chuckled darkly. “Why, indeed. Perhaps your Captain enjoys watching your suffering. Or perhaps he wanted to keep what’s his away from prying eyes.”
The soldiers’ hearts collectively shattered into a million pieces. One of them groaned, burying his face in his hands. “We didn’t know… We never had a chance…”
Another soldier, his voice thick with despair, muttered, “I can’t believe it. Lady Innamorata… with Captain? How did we not see it?”
“Captain, you traitor!” another sighed dramatically, staring off into the distance.
As their collective misery deepened, Dottore stood back, thoroughly enjoying the scene. The soldiers had gone from dejected to completely heartbroken in mere moments, and Dottore found it all too amusing.
One soldier sniffled, wiping a tear from his eye. “I guess it makes sense… Captain is strong and protective, and she’s so kind and beautiful…”
Another nodded, their voice breaking. “We never had a chance against him, did we?”
Dottore, satisfied with the chaos he had sown, let out a low chuckle. “No, you didn’t,” he said, a wicked gleam in his eyes. “But don’t feel too bad. You’re not the first to be smitten with Lady Innamorata, and I’m sure you won’t be the last.”
With that, Dottore turned on his heel and strode away, leaving the group of soldiers to wallow in their heartbreak.
As he disappeared down the hallway, the soldiers exchanged hopeless glances, their dreams of ever winning Himari’s heart completely crushed. One of them muttered, “I’ll never love again…”
Another sobbed quietly, “Why does the captain get everything…?”
And so, the legend of Il Capitano and Lady Innamorata’s unbreakable bond spread through the ranks, leaving behind a trail of broken hearts—and a very amused Dottore.

Chapter 9:
The air was thick with tension in the depths of the Natlan Abyss as Il Capitano stood at the forefront of his battalion. The Fatui soldiers were lined up behind him, their faces set with grim determination. They had come to this forsaken place to confront a growing threat from the Abyss, an enemy that had been stirring in the shadows, threatening to spill over into the world above.
Beside him stood Mauvika, a fierce warrior with a commanding presence, and Xilonen, whose keen eyes scanned the horizon for any sign of movement. They had fought together before, and their camaraderie had forged a bond that was essential in the chaos of battle.
“Capitano,” Mauvika said, her voice steady despite the weight of the moment. “The Abyss is cunning. We cannot underestimate them. They know this terrain better than we do.”
Il Capitano nodded, adjusting the grip on his weapon. His dark blue eyes were sharp, reflecting his unwavering resolve. “We will be the storm they cannot withstand. We have come too far to falter now.”
Xilonen, her hands glowing with the power of nature, added, “We have the strength of our soldiers and the support of the elements. Let us harness that strength to drive them back into the darkness.”
As the ground trembled beneath their feet, a deep rumble echoed through the Abyss, signaling the arrival of the Abyssal forces. Shadows shifted and coalesced into monstrous forms, emerging from the depths with a malevolent hunger. The Fatui soldiers instinctively tightened their grips on their weapons, their eyes reflecting a mix of fear and determination.
“On my command!” Il Capitano shouted, his voice cutting through the rising panic. “We hold the line. No retreat!”
As the Abyss creatures surged forward, Il Capitano led the charge, his soldiers following closely behind. The air crackled with elemental energy as Xilonen summoned vines and roots to ensnare their enemies, trapping the Abyss creatures in place. Mauvika fought with ferocity, her blade dancing through the air, striking down foes with precision.
“Push forward! We cannot allow them to overtake us!” Il Capitano called, his voice booming as he cut down a large Abyss creature with a swift, lethal strike. His movements were fluid and powerful, a testament to the training he had undergone and the battles he had fought.
The clash of weapons and roars of the Abyss filled the air, creating a cacophony of chaos. The Fatui soldiers fought valiantly, bolstered by the strength of their leaders. Each moment stretched into eternity, every victory hard-won, and yet the Abyss pressed on, relentless and unyielding.
In the midst of the fray, Il Capitano caught a glimpse of Mauvika, her figure a whirlwind of energy as she commanded the battlefield. He admired her strength, her fierce spirit igniting a fire within him. Just then, a massive Abyss creature lunged at her from the shadows. Without thinking, he surged forward, intercepting the attack with a powerful strike that sent the creature reeling back.
“Watch your flanks!” he barked; his focus unwavering even in the heat of battle.
“Thanks, Captain!” Mauvika replied, a fierce grin breaking through the tension.
“Don’t get too cocky!” Il Capitano shot back, but the corner of his mouth lifted slightly in approval.
As the battle raged on, the tides began to turn. Xilonen unleashed her elemental powers, summoning a wave of nature to engulf the Abyss creatures, while the Fatui soldiers fought with renewed vigor, inspired by the determination of their leaders.
“Now, push forward!” Il Capitano commanded, leading the charge into the heart of the Abyss forces. The warriors followed his lead, the sound of their battle cries echoing through the chasms as they fought against the darkness.
The fight was fierce, but with each passing moment, the strength of their unity became evident. They worked as a cohesive unit, anticipating each other's movements, supporting one another in the chaos of battle.
As the last of the Abyss creatures fell, a heavy silence settled over the battlefield. Il Capitano surveyed the aftermath, his heart racing from the adrenaline of combat. The Fatui soldiers stood panting, their faces marked with exhaustion but shining with pride.
“Today, we have proven that we are stronger than the darkness,” he proclaimed, his voice resonating with authority. “We will not back down, we will not falter! Together, we are invincible!”
Cheers erupted from the soldiers, a chorus of triumph that reverberated through the Abyss. In that moment, Il Capitano felt a surge of hope and strength, knowing that they had faced the Abyss and emerged victorious.
As they regrouped, Mauvika approached him, her expression serious but filled with admiration. “We did well today, Capitano. You led us through the storm.”
“It was a team effort,” he replied, acknowledging the contribution of his allies. “We fought together, and we won together.”
Xilonen joined them, her energy still crackling around her. “But we must remain vigilant. The Abyss will not cease its threats. We need to prepare for what comes next.”
Il Capitano nodded; the weight of their mission heavy on his shoulders. “We will strengthen our defenses and gather intelligence. This victory is just the beginning.”
As the sun began to set over the Abyss, casting a golden hue across the battlefield, Il Capitano felt a glimmer of hope amidst the encroaching darkness. They had fought valiantly, and together, they would continue to stand against the Abyss, protecting the world from its insidious grasp.
With renewed determination, he turned to his comrades, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Their bond had been forged in fire, and he knew that as long as they stood together, they could conquer anything.
In the aftermath of the fierce battle in the Natlan Abyss, the tension among the Fatui soldiers began to ease with the arrival of a new envoy from Snezhnaya. The soldiers buzzed with anticipation as the carriage rolled into the encampment, adorned with the emblem of the Tsaritsa. Whispers of excitement spread through the ranks; they had heard of the famed healer, the Lady Innamorata, and her miraculous abilities.
As the carriage door opened, the sun shone down on Himari, illuminating her long black hair and the gentle glow of her light purple eyes. The soldiers felt a wave of relief wash over them, knowing that she would bring her healing touch to those injured in battle. They had faced the relentless Abyss forces, and many were in desperate need of her skills.
“Lady Innamorata!” a soldier called out, rushing to greet her. “We’ve been waiting for you.”
With a kind smile, Himari stepped down from the carriage. “I’m here to help in any way I can. Please, show me to those in need.”
The soldiers quickly led her through the camp, where makeshift tents housed the injured. The sight was overwhelming; cries of pain and despair filled the air. Without hesitation, Himari set to work, her hands glowing with a soft, ethereal light as she moved from one soldier to another, channeling her healing energy.
“Stay calm,” she instructed gently, her voice soothing as she treated each wounded soldier. “You will be alright. Just focus on my voice.”
Within moments, the soldiers who had been gravely injured began to feel the pain subside. Her healing was efficient, and the relief on their faces was palpable. They marveled at her beauty and grace; their spirits lifted with every touch. Word spread quickly through the camp: the Lady Innamorata was performing miracles.
By the time she had healed the last soldier, hundreds were standing strong again, some even returning to their posts with newfound determination. The soldiers, now filled with gratitude and admiration, expressed their thanks. “Thank you, Lady Innamorata! You’ve saved us!”
Himari smiled; her heart warmed by their appreciation. “It’s my duty and my pleasure to help. But I must move on; there are civilians in the city who need my assistance as well.”
With that, she set off towards the nearby city, the soldiers trailing behind her in awe. They couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride for the healer who was one of them, part of the Fatui, yet so different in her kindness.
As she entered the city, a wave of shock rippled through the civilians. They had heard whispers of the Fatui, but never had they expected to see someone so beautiful, gentle, and kind. It was a stark contrast to the hardened image they held in their minds.
Children stared wide-eyed, while mothers whispered to their husbands in disbelief. “Is she really from the Fatui?” one woman asked, her voice filled with wonder.
“Yes,” another replied, “and look how she heals!”
Himari approached a small gathering of civilians, kneeling to meet the gaze of a young boy cradling his injured dog. “What happened here?” she asked softly, her eyes filled with compassion.
“The… the Abyss creatures attacked,” he stammered, his eyes brimming with tears. “I tried to protect him!”
“Let me help,” Himari replied, gently taking the dog into her arms. She placed her hands over the animal, channeling her healing energy into it. The dog whimpered for a moment before settling down, the pain ebbing away. After a few moments, the dog opened its eyes and licked her face gratefully.
The boy gasped in amazement. “You saved him!”
With a soft laugh, Himari brushed her hair back. “He’ll be alright now. You did well to protect him.”
Word of her healing spread through the streets, drawing crowds of men, women, children, and even the elderly to witness her work. Each time she healed someone, the gratitude in their eyes deepened her resolve to continue. She moved swiftly, treating wounds, easing ailments, and bringing relief to every corner of the city.
Hours passed, and her energy never waned. The townspeople, initially wary of the Fatui, found themselves enchanted by the Innamorata. They began to approach her with gifts of flowers, food, and heartfelt thanks.
“Lady Innamorata,” an elderly woman said, grasping her hands. “You have brought light into our darkest hour. Thank you for your kindness.”
Himari smiled warmly, her heart swelling with gratitude. “I’m here to help. Your strength inspires me.”
Finally, as the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the city, Himari stepped back to admire the impact she had made. The streets were alive with laughter and relief, the people coming together in gratitude for their newfound hope.
As she prepared to leave, a small group of children approached her, clutching wildflowers they had gathered. “These are for you, Lady Innamorata!” they cried in unison.
Himari knelt down, accepting the flowers with a gentle smile. “Thank you, little ones. These are beautiful.” She tucked the flowers into her hair, feeling their vibrant energy as a symbol of the joy she had brought to the city.
Just then, she received a message from one of the soldiers. “Lady Innamorata, the Capitano is in the capital with Mauvika.”
The mention of Il Capitano brought a warmth to her heart, and she nodded. “I will return to him soon. But for now, I must ensure that everyone here is taken care of.”
As the stars began to twinkle overhead, the civilians gathered around Himari, their hearts full of gratitude. She had shown them that even in the darkest times, kindness and healing could prevail, and the image of the Innamorata would forever be etched in their memories.
After Himari healed the people of Natlan and restored hope among the civilians, she made her way toward the capital, where the Pyro Archon Mauvika awaited her. As she passed through the bustling streets, her serene presence did not go unnoticed. Whispers of awe and admiration filled the air, as word of her kindness and beauty had already spread like wildfire.
Before she could reach the capital, she encountered two travelers—Aether, the famed hero, and his ever-enthusiastic companion, Paimon. Their eyes widened as they laid eyes on Himari. Aether, known for his calm and collected nature, couldn’t help but stare, taken aback by her grace and beauty, while Paimon hovered nearby, her usual bubbly demeanor momentarily replaced by awe.
“Whoa! Aether, look how pretty she is!” Paimon exclaimed, floating closer to get a better look. “Are you sure she’s with the Fatui? She’s way too nice!”
Aether, still surprised, nodded. “Yeah, she doesn’t seem like the others we’ve met…”
Himari, noticing their surprise, offered a soft smile. “I’m Himari, the Innamorata of the Fatui. It’s a pleasure to meet you both. I’ve heard of your travels, Aether, and the good you’ve done for many nations.”
Aether gave a polite nod, his expression softening. “The pleasure is ours, Himari. We’ve heard about you too—your healing has been a blessing for the people of Natlan.”
Paimon, ever curious, floated closer. “So, what brings you here? You don’t look like someone who gets involved in all that Fatui stuff.”
“I’ve come to help those in need,” Himari explained gently. “The people here have suffered, and it’s my duty to bring them relief.”
The encounter left a lasting impression on Aether and Paimon as they watched Himari continue her journey, marveling at how someone so gentle could be part of the enigmatic Fatui.
---
When Himari finally arrived at the capital, she was brought before the Pyro Archon, Mauvika. The Pyro Archon, known for her fiery strength in battle, greeted Himari with a surprisingly warm and sincere demeanor. Her fiery eyes softened as she regarded the healer who had done so much for her people.
“Himari, you’ve done more than I could have asked,” Mauvika said, stepping closer. “The people of Natlan are in your debt. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and healing.”
Himari bowed her head respectfully. “It was my honor, Archon. I only wish to bring peace to those in need.”
Mavuika’s smile was kind, her voice full of gratitude. “You are a rare soul, Himari. The Fatui are lucky to have someone like you among them.”
---
As the formalities ended, Himari made her way to a quiet garden in the capital, where she had been told someone special was waiting for her. Her heart fluttered as she walked through the flower-lined paths, knowing who awaited her.
Il Capitano stood tall, his dark blue eyes softening the moment he saw her. He had been away for so long, battling in the depths of the Abyss, and the sight of Himari filled him with a sense of relief he hadn’t felt in months. Without a word, he stepped forward, taking her hand in his own.
“I missed you, my lady,” he whispered, his voice tender as he lifted her hand to his lips, kissing it gently.
Himari felt her heart swell at his words. She had missed him too, more than she could express. “I missed you too, your grace,” she replied, her voice soft but filled with emotion.
In that moment, the war, the battles, and the weight of their duties faded into the background. They were just two souls reunited; their bond unspoken but stronger than ever.

Chapter 8:
The months that followed Il Capitano's departure felt like an eternity to Himari. Each day blended into the next, marked by the ache of his absence. She poured her heart into her healing work, trying to distract herself from the longing that gnawed at her, but no matter how busy she kept herself, the void left by his departure was impossible to ignore.
The promise he made before leaving echoed in her mind: “I’ll find a way to keep in touch.” With every day that passed, she held onto that promise, waiting for the moment she would receive news from him.
Then, one chilly morning, as she wandered through the garden she cherished so much, a familiar flutter of excitement coursed through her. A figure appeared in the distance—a courier on horseback, carrying a bundle of letters tied with a delicate ribbon. Her heart raced as the rider approached, and she quickly moved to intercept them, her hands trembling with anticipation.
“Himari!” the courier called out, dismounting swiftly. “I have a letter for you!”
“From him?” she asked breathlessly, hope blooming in her chest.
“Yes!” The courier nodded, handing her the neatly folded parchment. “He asked me to deliver it as soon as I could.”
Her fingers trembled as she took the letter, her heart racing. “Thank you!” she exclaimed, barely registering the courier’s presence as she turned her back to him, clutching the letter tightly. She hurried to a secluded spot in the garden, the vibrant flowers surrounding her offering a sense of comfort as she unfolded the letter, her breath hitching with each moment.
My Dearest Himari,
I hope this letter finds you well. The journey has been long and fraught with challenges, but I am doing my best to fulfill my duties for the tsaritsa. Every day brings new obstacles, but with each passing moment, I find my thoughts returning to you. Your strength has become my anchor, and I carry you with me always.
Here, the landscape is vastly different from what we know. The air is thicker, and the people are wary, but I continue to persevere. Each night, when I lay my head to rest, I imagine your smile, the way your eyes light up when you talk about your healing work. You inspire me more than you know.
I am sending you a bouquet of flowers I found in the region. They remind me of you—of the warmth and beauty you bring into my life. Keep them close, and know that I will return to you as soon as I can.
With all my love,
Il Capitano
Her eyes lit in happiness as she read his words, the warmth of his affection enveloping her like a comforting embrace. She felt the distance between them shrink, if only for a moment. She pressed the letter to her chest, feeling a mix of happiness and sorrow.
“I’ll keep them close, I promise,” she whispered to the wind, feeling more connected to him than ever.
Later that day, she received the bouquet he had sent, an unexpected delivery from the courier. The flowers were vibrant and exotic, unlike anything she had seen before—each bloom a testament to the unique landscape he traversed. Among them were bluebells, symbolizing humility and gratitude; daisies, representing innocence and new beginnings; and sunflowers, embodying loyalty and adoration.
Himari carefully arranged the flowers in a vase, placing them on the windowsill of her healing sanctuary, where the sunlight could touch each petal. Every glance at the blossoms reminded her of Il Capitano—his strength, his dedication, and the bond they shared.
Days turned into weeks, and each letter he sent became a cherished lifeline. In his next correspondence, he detailed the challenges he faced—how he outsmarted rivals, forged alliances, and navigated the unfamiliar territories. His descriptions painted vivid images in her mind, allowing her to imagine the world he was in, yet she could feel his longing for home seeping through the ink of his letters.
Himari, he wrote one day, there are nights when the stars shine brightly, and I find myself wishing you were here beside me. I would tell you stories of our enemies’ folly, and we would laugh under the moonlight as if the world didn’t exist beyond our little bubble. Until that day comes, know that every letter is a piece of my heart sent back to you.
Each letter became a testament to their growing bond. In her replies, Himari poured her heart out, telling him about her days, the patients she healed, and the joy his letters brought her. She enclosed dried flowers from her garden with each correspondence—roses for love, lilies for purity, and violets for faithfulness, hoping he would feel the warmth of her affection in every petal he touched.
As the seasons changed, so did their letters, weaving a tapestry of love and longing that bridged the gap between them.
But one evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the stars began to twinkle, she received another letter from the courier. Her heart raced as she read the familiar script, but as she unfolded the paper, a cold chill washed over her.
My Dearest Himari,
I regret to inform you that our mission has grown more perilous. The situation here is unstable, and I must take precautions to ensure my safety. There may be a delay in my correspondence, but please do not worry. I am taking every measure to protect myself and ensure that I can return to you.
Stay strong, my Innamorata. I will keep you in my thoughts.
Yours always,
Il Capitano
As she finished reading, her heart dropped. The uncertainty of his situation gnawed at her, and the bouquet of flowers that once brought her joy now felt heavy with foreboding. She pressed the letter to her chest, allowing the tears to flow freely.
“I will wait for you,” she whispered to the night, her resolve hardening as she stared at the fading sunlight. “I promise.”
In the silence of her garden, surrounded by the vibrant flowers that held her memories of him, she vowed to remain steadfast, nurturing the love that had blossomed between them, no matter the distance or the challenges that lay ahead.
As Il Capitano continued his mission, he carried not just his duties but also the cherished letters from Himari, each one a beacon of light in the shadows of uncertainty. Her words became a lifeline, offering solace amidst the chaos of his world. Every letter he received from her was carefully preserved, each detail etched into his memory, reminding him of the love that awaited him back in Snezhnaya.
The first letter he opened during a rare moment of respite was infused with the warmth of her heart.
My Dearest Captain,
As I sit in my garden, the sun warming my skin, I can’t help but think of you. Every flower I tend to reminds me of the vibrant life you bring into my world. The daisies are blooming, and they remind me of your strength and resilience. I often imagine you among them, your stern demeanor softened by the beauty of nature. I wish you could see the flowers, the way they dance in the breeze, just like my heart dances at the thought of you.
I want you to know that every day, I am waiting for you. You are my other half, and I draw strength from your love. I have been working with patients who remind me of you—so strong yet fragile, each with their battles to face. Healing them fills my heart with purpose, just as your presence fills my life with joy.
Please take care of yourself. I need you to return to me. Until then, I will keep sending you the beauty of my garden, each petal a promise of my love.
With all my heart,
Himari
As he read her words, he felt a warmth envelop him, chasing away the chill that had settled deep in his bones. Her love was a shield against the harsh realities of his mission, and he found himself clutching the letter tightly, feeling as though a part of her was with him, urging him to persevere.
Later, he opened another letter, this one bursting with color as he carefully extracted dried flowers that accompanied her words.
My Love,
Today, I have enclosed some of my favorite blooms—roses for love, lilies for purity, and violets for faithfulness. I hope they bring you comfort, just as your presence brings me comfort even when you’re far away. The roses remind me of our moments together, how your touch feels against my skin, how safe I feel in your arms. The lilies remind me of the gentle kindness you show to everyone around you, and the violets are a promise of my unwavering devotion to you.
Each petal holds a piece of my heart. Keep them close, and let them remind you of what we share. I believe in you, Il Capitano. Your strength and courage inspire me every day. I know that whatever challenges you face, you will overcome them and return to me.
I miss you dearly. Stay safe, my love.
Forever yours,
Himari
He carefully placed the flowers in a small pouch, keeping them close to his heart as he continued on his mission. They served as a constant reminder of her love and the life waiting for him back home. Whenever he felt doubt creeping in, he would pull out one of her letters or the flowers, drawing strength from her words and the fragrant memories they evoked.
Days turned into weeks, and Il Capitano found himself writing back to her with increasing frequency. He poured his heart onto the pages, sharing details of his mission and his feelings for her.
Dearest Himari,
The weight of this mission grows heavier with each passing day. The terrain is unforgiving, and the people are wary, but I remain steadfast in my resolve. Your letters give me strength, as does the thought of returning to you. I hold your flowers close, and each time I see them, I feel your warmth surrounding me.
Today, I encountered a small village in desperate need of assistance. I did my best to help them, and I couldn’t help but think of you and how you would have thrived in this place, bringing your healing touch to those in need. I long for the day when I can return to you, where your garden blossoms under your careful hand, and your laughter fills the air.
Until then, know that I am always with you, fighting for us. You are my light, and I will return to bask in it once again.
Yours in spirit and love,
Il Capitano
With each letter they exchanged, their connection deepened, transcending the miles between them. Himari would sit in her garden, writing back with fervor, pouring out her feelings, her hopes, and her dreams for their future together.
My Beloved Captain,
Your letters light up my days, and I treasure every word you send. The flowers bloom beautifully this spring, and they remind me of you—each petal vibrant and full of life, just as I feel when I think of you. The villagers come to see the garden, drawn to its beauty, and I tell them stories of you, my brave Il Capitano.
I wish you could see how the flowers grow under my care. I tend to them with love, just as I care for my thoughts of you. I imagine our life together—morning walks through the garden, your laughter ringing through the air as I point out new blooms. I hold onto that dream, knowing it will come true.
Please remember that no matter how far apart we are, you are always in my heart. I will wait for you, forever and always.
With all my love,
Himari
The seasons changed, and with each passing month, their letters became an intricate dance of love and longing. Il Capitano would find solace in her words during the darkest nights, and each letter she received would brighten his spirit, reaffirming his resolve to return to her.
And through it all, the flowers they exchanged—each petal, each scent—became a symbol of their unbreakable bond, a promise of love that flourished despite the distance, waiting for the day they would be reunited once more.

Chapter 7:
Himari wandered through the grand halls of the Fatui headquarters, her heart heavy with unease. She had been summoned to receive news about Il Capitano’s latest mission, and as she made her way to the chamber, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something significant was about to change.
When she entered the Tsaritsa’s chamber, she found herself surrounded by the imposing figures of the Harbingers, all of whom wore expressions of serious contemplation. The Tsaritsa's voice rang out with authority, detailing the mission’s objectives and the potential dangers that lay ahead. But it was the mention of the duration that struck Himari the hardest. Months, perhaps years? The weight of those words pressed down on her chest, threatening to suffocate her.
As the meeting concluded and the Harbingers began to disperse, Himari’s gaze instinctively sought out Il Capitano. He stood with his arms crossed, a stoic expression on his face, but she could see the tension in his shoulders, the way his dark blue eyes seemed to hold back a storm of emotions. It was a hard decision for him, one that she knew he had not taken lightly.
The moment their eyes met, the world around them faded away. In that brief glance, she felt a connection that transcended words—a shared understanding of the weight they both carried. She didn’t care who was watching; her heart ached for him, and the need to be near him surged within her. But instead of moving toward him, she felt an overwhelming urge to retreat.
As the last of the Harbingers filed out, Himari turned on her heel and hurried from the chamber, her heart pounding in her chest. She made her way to the garden, seeking solace in the vibrant flowers and the gentle whispers of the wind. The garden had always been her sanctuary, a place where she could escape the heaviness of the world and allow herself to feel.
Once she was surrounded by the blossoms, the weight of her emotions began to press down on her. The vibrant colors of the flowers reminded her of everything she loved about Il Capitano—the warmth of his presence, the strength in his voice, and the kindness hidden beneath his stoic facade. She sank down onto a bench, her gaze drifting to the ground as she fought to keep her emotions in check.
The garden was a beautiful contradiction to the turmoil swirling inside her. Here, amidst the flowers, she felt a sense of peace, but the thought of being apart from him for so long clawed at her heart. The gentle breeze carried the fragrance of blooming roses, their meanings echoing in her mind—love, passion, and longing.
What if he didn’t return? What if the mission took him far away, beyond her reach? Her heart ached at the thought, and she found herself biting her lip to suppress the tears that threatened to spill over.
Just then, she heard footsteps approaching. Her heart raced as she looked up, and to her surprise, Il Capitano stepped into the garden. He had left the meeting and come after her. The sight of him made her heart swell and break all at once.
“Himari,” he said softly, his voice breaking the silence like a gentle caress. He moved closer, the tension in his posture easing just a fraction as he approached her. “I’m sorry you had to hear about the mission like that.”
She looked up at him, her gaze unwavering. “You don’t have to apologize, Your Grace. I know you must fulfill your duty.”
His expression softened, and he knelt beside her, their eyes level. “It’s not just a duty to me. It’s… it’s hard knowing I’ll be away for so long.”
Himari felt her heart clench at his admission. “I wish I could go with you. I don’t want you to be alone.”
A faint smile tugged at his lips, but the sadness lingered in his eyes. “You deserve better than the dangers I’ll face out there. I wouldn’t want you to worry.”
“Worry?” she echoed, her voice barely above a whisper. “How could I not worry when you’re out there alone?” She took a breath, steadying herself. “You’re everything to me, Capitano. I can’t bear the thought of being apart from you.”
He reached out, his hand finding the small of her back, a comforting gesture that sent warmth through her. “I promise to return. No matter how long it takes, I will come back to you.”
Himari nodded, tears glistening in her eyes. “You better keep that promise. I’ll be waiting for you, no matter how long it takes.”
He searched her gaze, and in that moment, the world around them faded again. The weight of the situation was still heavy, but in the garden, they found a small oasis of hope.
“I’ll write to you,” he promised, his voice thick with emotion. “Every chance I get, I will find a way to let you know I’m safe.”
“I’ll cherish every letter,” she said, a smile breaking through her sadness. “And I’ll send you flowers to remind you of home.”
“Flowers?” he asked, the corner of his mouth lifting in amusement.
“Roses,” she replied with determination. “Every color has a meaning. I’ll send you red for love, pink for admiration, and yellow for friendship.”
He chuckled softly, the sound warming her heart. “Then I will expect a bouquet each week.”
They shared a moment of silence, the bond between them stronger than any distance that might come between them. With a deep breath, Himari leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek, a promise of love and support.
“Be safe, Your Grace,” she whispered against his skin, her voice trembling with emotion.
“I will. And when I return, I’ll make sure to bring you something special.”
With one last lingering glance, Capitano rose to his feet, but not before gently squeezing her hand, an unspoken promise binding them together. As he turned to leave, the garden felt emptier, but her heart was filled with hope.
“I’ll be counting the days until you come back to me,” she called after him.
Il Capitano paused, looking back over his shoulder with a determined glint in his eyes. “And I’ll be counting the moments. Until then, stay safe, my Innamorata.”
With that, he disappeared from the garden, leaving Himari surrounded by the flowers that would now carry her thoughts and hopes for the future—a future where he would return to her, and they could continue the story they had just begun to write together.
__
The day Il Capitano departed hung heavy in the air, filled with a bittersweet mix of anticipation and sorrow. The sun rose slowly over Snezhnaya, casting a pale light that struggled to pierce the persistent chill of the season. Himari stood at the edge of the garden, her heart a tangled knot of emotions, her breath visible in the crisp morning air.
She had arrived early, needing the solace of the flowers to calm her racing heart. The vibrant colors seemed to mock her mood, reminding her of the warmth that was about to leave her life. Each petal whispered promises of love and longing, but they felt more like reminders of what she would soon be missing.
As the hours passed, the garden grew quiet. Birds flitted about the trees, their songs a stark contrast to the heaviness in her heart. She knew the time was drawing near, and with each passing moment, the reality of his departure sank deeper into her bones.
Finally, she heard the distant sound of footsteps. Himari turned to see Il Capitano approaching, dressed in his formal attire, the intricate details of his uniform glinting in the early light. Her heart swelled at the sight of him, but the pain of knowing he was about to leave her threatened to overwhelm her.
“Your Grace,” she greeted softly, her voice catching in her throat as she tried to maintain her composure.
“Himari,” he replied, his deep voice steady but tinged with an emotion that mirrored her own. He stepped closer, his dark blue eyes searching her face as if trying to memorize every detail before he left.
“Are you ready?” she asked, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
“I am,” he said, though the heaviness in his tone betrayed his own uncertainty. “But it feels… wrong to leave you.”
The honesty in his words made her heart ache. She reached out, taking his hand in hers, the warmth of his touch grounding her amidst the chaos of her emotions. “You have to go. It’s your duty,” she whispered, trying to sound brave, even as her heart trembled.
He nodded, his thumb brushing over her knuckles, a gesture filled with tenderness. “I’ll always carry you with me, you know. You’re my anchor.”
Himari felt tears prick at her eyes. “And you’re my strength,” she replied, her voice breaking slightly. “I’ll be waiting for you, every day.”
As the time for his departure approached, the air grew thick with unspoken words. She wanted to say so much—tell him how much he meant to her, how she would count the days until his return, but all that came out was, “Promise me you’ll stay safe.”
“I promise,” he said, his voice steady. “And I’ll find a way to keep in touch. You’ll know I’m okay.”
Himari nodded, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over. “I believe you,” she whispered.
As they stood together in the garden, the world around them seemed to fade away. It was just the two of them, surrounded by the beauty of nature, lost in a moment that felt both fleeting and eternal. But soon, the sound of horses and the distant chatter of the Fatui broke through their cocoon of intimacy.
“I should go,” he said reluctantly, his grip on her hand tightening for a brief moment before he released her. “The others are waiting.”
With a heavy heart, Himari stepped back, watching as he turned to join his fellow Harbingers. Her breath caught in her throat, and she felt as if her heart were being ripped from her chest. “Il Capitano!” she called out, unable to hold back the desperate need to see him one last time.
He paused, turning back to her, and for a moment, the world around them disappeared again. Their eyes locked, and in that instant, all the unspoken feelings hung in the air, a fragile bond that neither distance nor time could sever.
“Wait for me,” he said, his voice strong yet tinged with a vulnerability that made her heart ache.
“I will,” she promised, her voice steady despite the tears streaming down her cheeks.
As he mounted his horse, she felt a sense of finality wash over her. The other Harbingers gathered around him, their presence a stark reminder of the mission that awaited him. Yet, in that moment, all she could focus on was him—the man she loved, the man who was about to embark on a journey that would take him far away.
With a final nod, he spurred his horse forward, the group beginning to ride away. Himari stood rooted to the spot, watching as he grew smaller in the distance, her heart aching with every passing second. She fought the urge to run after him, to hold him close one last time, but she knew that this was part of his duty.
As they disappeared beyond the horizon, she felt a piece of herself go with him. The vibrant flowers around her seemed to dim, losing their luster in the wake of his absence. But she held onto hope, the promise of his return echoing in her mind.
“I’ll be waiting for you, Il Capitano,” she whispered to the wind, her heart resolute. The garden, once a sanctuary, now held a void that only his presence could fill.
And so, with tears in her eyes and love in her heart, she turned away from the path that led him away, determined to keep their connection alive until the day he would return to her.

Chapter 6:
The tension in the Fatui headquarters was palpable, a shift in the air that hadn't gone unnoticed by the other Harbingers. The once distant dynamic between Il Capitano and Innamorata had slowly transformed into something subtly enchanting.
As the group gathered in a spacious meeting room to discuss their next steps in the ongoing war, the interactions between the captain and the Innamorata began to draw the attention of the others. Columbina, with her keen eyes and playful spirit, was the first to notice. She leaned over to Arlecchino, a knowing smirk on her lips. “Look at them,” she whispered, nodding towards where Himari stood next to Capitano, her expression soft as she gazed up at him.
Arlecchino followed her gaze, a teasing glimmer in her eyes. “It’s like they’ve formed their own little world,” she mused, watching as Capitano, despite his stoic demeanor, subtly leaned toward Himari, his voice low and quiet. The two shared a fleeting moment that seemed to dissolve the space around them, leaving only the comfort of their presence.
Innamorata's eyes sparkled as she looked up at the captain, her admiration evident. His dark blue eyes softened just for her, a rare glimpse beneath the impenetrable exterior he typically maintained. She couldn’t help but steal glances at him, taking in every detail—the sharp lines of his jaw, the way his armor seemed to accentuate his strong physique, and the way he held himself with an unyielding grace.
When he leaned slightly toward her, murmuring something only she could hear, her heart raced. “Stay close,” he said, his voice a low rumble that sent a shiver of warmth through her. The way he casually placed his hand at the small of her back felt natural, protective, and possessive all at once. It was a gesture that had become second nature to him, and she savored the feeling of his touch.
The subtlety of their connection was not lost on the other Harbingers. Columbina watched the exchange with delight. “I think he’s actually smiling,” she teased, her tone light. “Or at least as close to smiling as he gets.”
“More like a slight shift in his helmet,” Arlecchino replied with a chuckle, her arms crossed as she leaned back in her chair. “But it’s adorable. Look at Himari. She practically glows around him.”
Indeed, Innamorata seemed to radiate joy whenever she was near Capitano. There was a warmth in her gaze that revealed her feelings for him, a longing that was evident to those who paid attention. Even the most stoic of hearts could see how they shared similar mannerisms now; the way they tilted their heads when listening, the subtle smiles that played on their lips during quiet moments, and the way they instinctively moved closer together during discussions.
“It's a little sickening, isn’t it?” Pantalone chimed in, trying to mask the humor in his voice. Yet even he couldn’t suppress a grin as he observed their camaraderie.
“Not at all,” Columbina replied playfully, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “It’s entertaining. Look at them trying to act all professional while stealing glances and sharing whispers.”
As the meeting continued, the Harbingers exchanged amused glances whenever Capitano's hand found its way back to Innamorata’s back, or when he leaned in to say something just for her ears. It was a light-hearted undercurrent amidst their serious discussions about strategy and warfare, a shared secret that made the days of conflict a little brighter.
In the midst of the tension that came with being part of the Fatui, these tender moments—small gestures of affection—created a sense of warmth that everyone could appreciate. Himari and Capitano were oblivious to the amusement they were causing, lost in their own world, and the others couldn't help but find joy in the quiet moments of love unfolding before them.
And in those moments, as the chaos of their lives swirled around them, the captain and the Innamorata found solace in each other, their hearts slowly intertwining in a bond that would only grow stronger with time.
__
The grand chamber of the Tsaritsa loomed with an air of authority, its walls adorned with elaborate tapestries that depicted the history of Snezhnaya and the Fatui. The large, ornate throne at the center commanded respect and attention, its presence both regal and intimidating. Il Capitano stood before it, his posture straight and his demeanor stoic, as he awaited her command.
The Tsaritsa regarded him with a keen eye, her expression unreadable. She had always held a deep respect for Capitano, valuing his loyalty and unwavering commitment to her and the Fatui. But today, there was a heaviness in the air that made even the confident Captain feel a hint of apprehension.
“Il Capitano,” she began, her voice resonating with authority, “I have a mission of great importance for you. It will require both your strength and your resolve.”
He nodded, his dark blue eyes locked onto hers, ready to absorb whatever order she had for him. “Your Majesty, I am at your service.”
The Tsaritsa leaned forward slightly, her fingers steepled before her. “This mission will take you far from Snezhnaya. You will be tasked with infiltrating the regions beyond our reach, gathering intelligence on potential threats to our organization and to Snezhnaya itself.”
“Understood,” he replied without hesitation. The distance didn’t concern him; his loyalty to the Tsaritsa outweighed any apprehension about the journey ahead. However, there was a nagging feeling in the back of his mind as he considered the implications of such a long absence.
“Due to the nature of the mission, you may be away for months—possibly years,” she continued, her gaze unflinching. “The risks are high, and the intelligence you gather will be crucial for the future of our operations.”
He swallowed hard, the weight of her words settling in his chest. “If it is for the safety of Snezhnaya, then I accept this mission without question.” It was a declaration of his loyalty, a promise to the Tsaritsa that he would serve her and her people above all else.
But as he spoke, his thoughts drifted to Himari. The warmth of her presence, the soft touches they shared, the moments they had begun to carve out for themselves—would he have to leave all of that behind? The idea of being apart from her for so long made his heart ache, but he had always been a man of duty. His personal feelings were secondary to his responsibilities.
The Tsaritsa observed him, a flicker of understanding passing through her gaze. “I know this will not be easy for you, Capitano. But you must remember that our work requires sacrifices. Your commitment to our cause is what has made you a pillar of the Fatui. This mission will not only test your skills but also your resolve.”
“Your Majesty, I will do whatever is necessary for our organization,” he replied, his voice steady. “I will not fail you.”
“Good,” she said, her expression softening ever so slightly. “I have faith in you. And should you encounter any challenges, I trust you will find a way to overcome them.”
As she dismissed him with a wave of her hand, Il Capitano turned to leave, but her voice stopped him once more. “Capitano, I know that you hold a special connection with Himari. Please, do not allow this mission to cloud your mind. Focus on your objectives, and everything else will fall into place.”
He nodded again, the weight of her words hanging in the air. “Yes, Your Majesty.”
As he exited the chamber, the heavy doors closing behind him, he felt an emptiness settle in his chest. The world outside felt colder, the halls more barren. Days would turn into weeks, and weeks into months, perhaps even years, before he could return to her.
His mind replayed moments shared with Himari—the warmth of her laughter, the way her eyes sparkled when she spoke of healing, the comfort of her presence. Would she wait for him? Would she understand why he had to leave?
Il Capitano’s heart ached at the thought of being apart from her, but he steeled himself, drawing on the resolve that had always defined him. He would fulfill his duty, no matter the cost.
With each step he took, the weight of the mission pressed down on him, but his loyalty to the Tsaritsa and to Snezhnaya remained unshakable. He would return. He had to.
