Dental extraction gone right (in all possible ways)!
✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
Akaashi was pretty sure that you were a wise person. He witnessed a few times since his transfer that you were there to break your friends’ feuds, always the voice of reason to you before things escalated out of hand. You were also the person Washio went for advice when he was contemplating if he should pursue college or career right away. More importantly, Akaashi was easily drawn to you as you were the first person who welcomed him without intruding on his boundaries. You did not antagonize his withdrawn attitude and instead, you were there to brightly greet him even when you two were merely acquaintances.
Akaashi admired your perceptive and empathizing nature.
Yet, here he is now suffering from your action’s consequences. He had waited in line with you for 40 minutes, then another 10 minutes for your extraction to be completed. Although he does not hold it against you (you were whining in pain when he found you at the school grounds) that he was here this 4 pm at the clinic and against his will; his mind could not fathom why you asked for him to accompany you.
Even Bokuto is the better tag-along since he might ease you out of the boredom of waiting, unlike Akaashi who relied on you to initiate conversation.
“What to do…what to do….,” he sighed as he looked inside the paper bag. A small pint of vanilla ice cream, a small moist cake with a chocolate filling, and a bottle of water– all of which you had mentioned were your essentials. While these purchases put a dent to his allowance today (he doesn't mind walking home), he hopes these would aid your sufferings later. He just hopes his mom would stop asking him why he asked her what he should get from a person having their wisdom tooth removed. He could have lied, but his mother had an uncanny knack for sensing the truth—and he wasn’t one to test her intuition. So, he just opted to fidget with his phone instead of replying to his mom.
“Okay Ms. (Y/n), please turn your head more to the right,” the doctor chimed before Akaashi heard you groan seconds later from your wisdom tooth being extracted out.
Akaashi hastily taps his foot on the floor now. He glanced at the television playing some random Spanish soap opera as he grips tightly on the paper bag.
“Gargle with water now…” he heard the doctor instruct you more with a few reminders of how to take care of your teeth. Afterwards, Akaashi saw that the doctor walked out with a warm smile as he walked towards where Akaashi sat.
“Ah, you must be her boyfriend—” he paused, waiting for a name.
Akaashi's cheeks turned a shade of pink, but he did not bother correcting the assumption.
“-Mr...?”
“Akaashi,” he replied, and he found into liking to the sound of it already.
You emerged out of the room, cheeks still swollen from having a cotton ball stuck in your molars. Despite your disheveled state, Akaashi was entranced by how adorable you are trudging towards the counter. Once you had grabbed your school bag, you turned around and smiled when you saw Akaashi.
“Ackaaschi!” You waved and ran towards him.
Before you could greet him , you saw that he was holding a paper bag. Akaashi, meanwhile, shifted with his legs before handing it over to you, “I heard that people like you needed these things after the procedure so…”
You accepted the bag in your arms and giggled, “Aw, Akaashi! You didch notch have tcho, but thank you.”
Akaashi could have sworn he sees your cheeks reddened but it must have been a trick of the light. You quickly grab his wrist, “You’re dcha sweetest!”
Even with your swollen smile, Akaashi could not help but to think you had put him in a trance. Like a fairy. A tooth fairy whose reward did not involve gifting coins but the warmth of your presence. He would like to bask in it more.
“I can escort you as you buy the prescribed medicines,” he quickly uttered. Once those words were out of his mouth, he wanted to berate himself.
Was he not too forward with his intentions?
What were even his intentions?
“Really?” You tucked your hair behind your ears,“ Then I guessch we better move along.”
Akaashi could have sworn his heart just lurched when you tapped his cheeks.
“Oh yih, carry thcis fer me too?” you said while batting your eyes on him. Akaashi knew that he was a goner for you from this point on.

The walk home though was filled with comfortable chatter. Akaashi found himself openly responding to you, even going as far as sharing his own story (mostly his misadventures with Bokuto) to you.
After you guys went to pay at the cashier, Akaashi made sure to walk you home. While you had insisted that you bothered him enough, he assured me that it was the least he could do. He could have sworn that your eyes brightened when Akaashi persisted taking you home.
You laughed as he mentioned that one time their team went to the principal's office because of Bokuto’s antics which led to the principal losing his wig.
Once you guys reached the gates, you turned around facing him again.
“Thcank you fer going with me, Ackaashi,” you uttered as your gates creeked into opening, “I owe you big time, really.”
Akaashi shook his head, “You don’t have to get me anything, just take care of yourself?”
“Ofcourse I will,” you shake the paper bag in front of his face, “I wouldn’t want tcho waste these gifts just so I could feel better.”
You hugged his paper bag, “You had gotten my favorite stuff! You’re like my own tooth fairy, y’know?”
While Akaashi would beg to differ and just chuckled, he glanced at the way you clutched the paper bag and a feeling of pride surged through him that his gifts would manage to alleviate your discomfort for upcoming days.
Your eyes shifted below though, eyes focusing on the paper bag, “Especially that a pretty guy like you gifted me these.”
It feels like the soft breeze and crackling of leaves churned into a ringing sound.
Before he could recuperate, you swiftly stepped inside the gates, “Thcank you again, Ackaashi! Text me when you get home?”
Although your hasty pace did not escape his notice, he was too preoccupied with what you said earlier. As you disappeared inside, Akaashi could not contain the smile that was etching on his face. While he was certain that tooth fairy only grant wishes to those who got their tooth removed, it felt it was his desire that was heard that day.

PAPER HEARTS

What's the best way to pass time that involves your crush?
✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
Today was supposedly a normal weekend day. A Saturday morning as you play online games with your classmates. This Saturday though was brimming with your teacher’s doze-inducing voice as she rambled about advanced chemical equations. Yet the atmosphere in the room was heavy. After all, Mrs. Nara will be giving a remedial test as almost all of the students in your class botched her last quiz. So right now, this room is filled with students who are struggling to stay awake, seatmates who are drumming their desks, and the sounds of pen-tapping on their notebooks.
Yet, there was Suna.
Suna, who was busy scrolling in their phone- one headphone tucked in their ear.
Suna, whom you are majorly crushing on since he transferred- sat right beside you.
Suna, whose original seat was in front of you, had switched with the Osamu.
It was too much for your faint heart to take. You just hope he does not see the redness creeping up to your ears.
Your teacher cannot fault you if you have zero lessons retained after today.
As the lecture went on, your eyes tried to steal a glance at Suna. Whether by conveniently dropping your ballpen at your right, looking at the window, or stretching your neck, you cannot let this opportunity pass.
At one instance, when you ‘accidentally’ dropped your ballpen (your blue pen this time!), Suna hastily crouched down. His long fingers snatched your ballpen before you could even bend down.
“I’ll get it,” he offered, fingers brushing off on one another before placing it on top of your desk.
“Thanks,” you whispered, trying to contain the giddy smile grazing upon your lips.
Your heart pickens up. But it was not from your fingers touching.
Your eyes widen as he leaves a crumpled ¼ paper. You scan around the room to see if anyone is glancing in your direction. Once you had made sure none of them was looking, you slowly opened up the paper.
Something’s on my face?
You sucked a short breath.
This was the first time you guys talked without it being school-work related.
You know in your mind that this was also a moment you should seize. He initiated a conversation; the fates must have been showing you signs. It’s not like you have poured a small coin into a wishing pond for this moment to spur. Totally not!
So your eyes roam towards your right.
Suna’s face was still glued under his desk. It was at the count of 3 seconds where his face rose, green slanted eyes meeting yours. His eyebrows quirked up before gazing at the strip of paper on your fingers. His eyes met yours again that goads you to write back to him.
Feeling resolute, you crumpled the letter inside your hand. Flipping your notebook to the back, you were about to write back to him when the phone in your pocket suddenly rang loud enough for Mrs. Nara to hear.
All heads snapped back at you.
“Well Miss (L/n), kindly answer that outside,” your teacher kindly stated.
Your face heats up, and you avoid eye contact with the rest of the class as you skirted away from your desk and brisked until you were near the corridor of your classroom.
When you picked it up, you were surprised to be bombarded with screeching noise.
“Y/n! Tell Samu that he is DEAD to me!”
“Why would you call me for this Tsumu?!” you exasperatedly shushed.
“Cuz Samu won’t answer his phone so yer the next best person to relay this to him!”
You can hear a shuffling of boards on his background.
“Oh my god…don’t tell me you’ve overslept?”
“I wouldn’t be if he woke me up!” he yelled as a slamming of the door was heard behind him, “I told him I have a volleyball practice today!”
You rolled your eyes fondly.
“You know Tsumu, I was having the time of my life there and you just happened to interrupt me,” you exclaimed, still in a shushed manner.
“What are yer on about? Who the hell is having fun with Mrs. Nara’s lecture?”
“Apparently I am today so…bye!” You slammed the end button on your call.
Before tucking your phone, you immediately put it into silent mode. As you headed back inside, your mind was churning cogs on what to reply to Suna. He clearly caught you staring at him. So, as you sat down beside your chair, careful to avoid anyone’s eyes, you started writing in your notebook.
It was just a coincidence. Don’t think too much about it.
Tearing the small written portion, you bide your time until Mrs. Nara turned around and quickly slipped the folded paper onto Suna’s desk.
You tried copying the written equations on the board as you tapped your foot repeatedly, hoping to try and calm your nerves. You silently hoped that Suna did not notice the way your hands trembled when you passed on the notes.
Suddenly, a bulging eraser was placed on top of your notebook. Inside the eraser’s cover, you can clearly see the folded paper. Well that was fast.
Carefully extracting the paper, you quietly unfolded its content. What you read made you stifle a laugh.
Sure, you just ‘coincidentally’ glanced in my direction five times already.
When you looked to your right for the nth time today, you can see that Suna was smirking on you. One of his hands was tucked in his pocket while the other was ‘writing’ down notes. You went back to compose a cheeky reply.
Maybe I just like looking at the view :).
When you confidently passed him the note this time, you saw that Osamu caught you passing notes to Suna. The younger twin just looked between you two before shrugging it off.
Your heart raced as you anticipated for Suna’s reply. It was nerve-wracking but the excitement from the note-passing with him filled you with a newfound energy for this day. One thing is for sure though: You will just have to catch on to the re-taught lessons later at your home.
