Crafters open for business
Crafters open for business
As a crafter, one of the things I have noticed in recent years is crafts are trendy. Knitting and crocheting is not longer the dreaded Christmas gift. In fact, there are you tube videos on how to make various projects or create a stitch.
I am new to the wonderful world of Etsy. Soon I am planning to have my own store on etsy.com. Crafters from all backgrounds can go on etsy.com and sell their…

Nursing Burnout
For about five years I worked as a Registered Nurse. Then I decided I needed a break. Yes, the profession is rewarding. However, the floor nursing also takes a lot out of you physically, mentally and emotionally.
If you put in the google search engine nurse burnout, there are no shortage of sites. There are even scholarly articles written about it. It is not because nurses are lazy. We are humans…

Glimpse Into Anorexia
According to the National Eating Disorders Association, “Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by weight loss (or lack of appropriate weight gain in growing children); difficulties maintaining a healthy body weight for height, age, and stature; and in many individuals distorted body image”
The definition does not come adequately close to showing the pure hell the disease can wreak…

Update
Sorry it has been a while. Mother’s day was difficult to get thru. I know there will be days like that. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make it any easier.
I made some calls last week. My mom wanted her ashes to be spread around some flowers. It turns out there are some legalities to that. I thought at one point of putting her ashes around my younger sister who died in childbirth. Unfortunately,…

Anxiety affects both men and women. According to Scientific American.com. As someone who suffers personally from anxiety, I have a feeling that number is much higher. In fact, that may be part of the reason so many people have substance abuse problems. According to an article from the National Institute of Health, there is a direct correlation between substance abuse and mental health issue such as anxiety.
Anxiety can be a bear all on its own. Some illness have anxiety with them, like fibromyalgia. One of the difficult things is when you want to sleep but you can not. My body may be exhausted but, I can not sit still. I can feel the nerves dancing around in me. This is not a panic attack and it still is hell on Earth.
I don’t have the issue of substance abuse thankfully. There is so much addiction on either side of my family that quite frankly is scares me. Instead, I don’t sleep. For instance, right now I should be in bed and I am too anxious to sleep. There are days when even my meds do not help.
Anxiety does not make anyone weak. Our bodies give us signals that they have had enough. This could be before, during, or after a trauma. If one was in a destructive marriage, it takes a long time before those fears go away. It is like our bodies are on high alert and the anxiety takes over. This is not always logical. It is what it is.
Thankfully there are things that we can do to help. Things like diet and exercise can make bad days more bearable. Good nutrition with the various vitamins and minerals help the body. Exercise has been shown to improve mood. These two things give people like me hope. I do not like taking medications. If there is something I can do to help myself that does not involve medication, sign me up.

Daily Prompt: Tantrum
I so badly want to scream today. My left arm is killing me from my fibromyalgia. It feels like my body is throwing a temper tantrum on me. I do not like feeling week or unable to do things. The meds make other things worse. My body is having a tantrum.

Daily Prompt: Notable
When you feel down because you are working hard towards your goals and nothing seems to be happening, do not give up. Every effort and step towards the destination and the journey is worth taking in and appreciating. It is especially rewarding when things get tough and you know you did not give up.
