well....it finally happened

Someone broke into my car today while I was at costco and and stole both my wallet and the (light blue) labubu I keep hanging from the rearview mirror....however the joke is on them because the small series of operations I perform on each of my labubus binds them inextricably from me in this mortal plane and the next. While it is unideal to not be entombed together I'm fairly confident that the series of inscriptions implanted as a makeshift pituitary gland in the labubu's chest (some argue that the correct placement is in the head, but this is a misconception borne of rampant cultural anthropocentrism, pthoo), will be sufficient to ensure that we are reunited when the time comes to undergo the trials of the afterlife. Regardless, I miss you jared. Also I'm thinking about buying a gun

when imaging the circumstances of The Duke coming into the world I think of him as a cuckoo bird. some fae changling placed into the arms of a family who would never be able to provide for him. Lesser beasts have an unconditional bond with their offspring, whereas humans often come to resent the child who cannot help but to ask for too much. Rapidly outgrowing his household, he senses the tension his appetite create, he can observe that he is growing too tall for doorways. He is a sweet and gentle boy but cannot help but cultivate the contempt of his parents and siblings, he grows quiet and sickly from malnutrition. shame overwhelms him, he knows he is a burden. A grave sensation of guilt sets upon the child any time it finds some pleasure in its body, the world seems to whisper to him that if he is going to be a burden he ought to at least be ashamed of himself.

The 2025 Gender Census is now open!

The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 30th August 2025.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
