These are just some of my nigh infinite ghoul headcanons. I think about ghoul social relationships a lot.

Mountain: Caretaker, very warm, though not necessarily familial. More like the world’s BEST daycare attendant. Very well versed in babies. Almost always calm and collected, even in situations where Dew is hurt. Helps Dew not panic tbh.

Cirrus: honestly. She and Alpha are probably the worst on this list, though not necessarily bad. They’re just not terribly well equipped to handle that kind of thing actively. Her best method is offering her nest(the space behind your knees when you’re laying down on a surface like a couch or bed) for him to curl up in and reading whatever book she has in her hand out loud just to provide a calm quiet environment. If she needs help, shell usually call Rain or Cumulus.

Rain: doesn’t seem like he’d be terribly well equipped to handle this, but he’s actually pretty good at it! He sings he cooks he reads books. He’s actually very similar to the way that Aurora handles it in that he seems more like a babysitter, but he’s much more calm than she is, which is a lot of the time, is what dewdrop needs.

Cumulus: Very Motherly/Sisterly. She babies him a lot and if that’s not what he’s in the mood for typically she’ll try to grab somebody else for help but if he regresses small enough to where he’s that far, she or aether or mountain are going to be the best choice.

Swiss: Fun Uncle/Dad vibes. “Hey kiddo! What’s up? Need something, little man?” All smiles, patience and understanding. Is one of the three(him, mount and aeth) who often get sought out by others for help

Aurora: think… 90’s horror movie teen babysitter. She tries to make the experience better with fun and games and sweet care, though sometimes she has to call for help. She’s better at dealing with Ant tbh? Dew usually regresses smaller than shears used to handling.

Phantom: Tries His Best. Sometimes seeing Dew in such a state triggers a regression of his own, and then at least Dew has company. He’s a talkative little, which helps when Dew ISNT, since regression often(not always) makes him nonverbal.

Omega: he’s a holder. This motherfucker has a baby Bjorn that he keeps for when dew regresses small enough to need it. Otherwise, he just kind of carries him on his hip around the Abbey. Coming with him for whatever he’s doing.

Ifrit: very much also Fun Uncle vibes. He’s a pretty good mix of Swiss and Aurora when it comes to handling regressed Dew. He has an added element of tenderness to where he cuddles and kisses, if Dew wants it, and if he’s not big on interpersonal interaction he’ll plop him in front of a show he know he likes. He has playlists on YouTube and a channel on Disney+ just for him. He stays where he can keep an eye on him and occasionally holds him on his hip, if Dew allows.

Mist: she is motherly in a different way. If he is big enough to talk about what happened, she tries to encourage him to do that and after they’ve talked about it, they’ll cuddle and maybe she’ll read him a story or put a show on for him, but she makes sure to continue talking with him throughout the time she’s there with him to keep him grounded.

Alpha: he doesn’t really understand it that much. It’s some thing he’s tried and failed to wrap his head around so typically he’ll just call for help from somebody else or carry him if he needs it to the nearest ghoul who knows how to care for him.

Zephyr: they’re kind of like a slightly older sibling. They tried to play with him, usually down at ground level since they have chronic pain and don’t have a lot of energy or mobility to work with. Consider a three-year-old and a 5 to 6 year old. A child who definitely is older, but not quite old enough to be responsible. the main way they handle it is playing game watching show keeping him entertained until someone else can come in who can take a more active role in helping him.

Aether: oh Aeth. ((Sorry I play favorites, you know this is gonna be a long one.))

Aether(while not the only one) has been around Dewdrop for a very long time and ever since he was added to the equation they’ve had a pretty good rapport going. It’s not always the best or the smoothest. But he’s always there and sometimes that’s all Dewdrop needs him to be. He’s lost other ghouls (and papas for that matter) or isn’t as close with them or had a falling out. But Aether has been a constant. A lighthouse in the tempestuous sea that is Being Dewdrop Ghoul.

He’s been with him for so long, that even if he doesn’t necessarily understand things about Dewdrop, he knows they’re a part of him. And he’s there for him through everything. Even when they fight, or if they need to take some space, he tries to end things off with “I love you very much. Would you please give me a moment(usually he tries to specify a specific increment of time, like 2-5 minutes.) it gives him time to cool down; and reassures Dew that he IS coming back.

When Dew regresses, Aether becomes even more that rock for him. Aether is willing to pretty much drop everything and become whatever Dew needs at that moment. He knows this is “a Dewdrop who might not recognize him”, or know who he is, so his patience and tolerance has been put to the test a couple of times. But every time Dew comes out of it(when Aether was where he went/was brought) Aether is right there. Holding him safe and cozy in his arms, heart beating and breath fanning steadily for Dew’s own to emulate. Aether is Dew’s ultimate safe place, and he doesn’t know how that happened, but he DOES know that he’s more that willing/capable of being that, and takes pride in it too.

If Dew will be held, he holds him. If not, he tries any other way he can think of to make Dewdrop feel safe. Once he feels safe enough to attempt communication, Aether is attentive and dutiful. Tries every method he can to figure out what it is that he needs, or what it is he wants and, within reason, gives it to him. It’s all about returning Dewdrop to a place/time/mental space where he’s safe, and his needs are cared for/tended to. He is by far the best at making that happen, even if it sometimes takes a while. He has the patience and skill to do it.

The way Swiss runs over to Dew, does his screaming and biting. Dew doesn't give him any attention like he's used to Swiss's bullshit. Swiss not getting the reaction he wants he storms off upset.
