honestly, the radicalizing event that made me ditch faux-ironic detachment is when I sent a hard-to-write sentimental message to someone I was (at the time) close with, and they sent the vomiting emoji back. it was like oh okay, that sucks. I am now of the opinion that it is 100x cooler and braver to be sappy with the people you care about.

Can we please talk about Fiyero’s face in the Ozdust Ballroom scene when Elphaba and Galinda are dancing?
He’s already watching fairly intently when Galinda cuts in, but from the moment he sees Elphaba crying, he’s just stricken. It’s like he’s realized the truth behind what Galinda said (“of course she does; she just pretends not to”). It’s like he’s realizing they have that pretending in common, and seeing Elphaba’s vulnerability has just revealed there’s another option. When everyone else is whispering or starting to dance along, he just stands there and looks like he’s been cracked open.

You know what? I really appreciate wicked not just for the movie itself, but for the healing it allowed me for a small version of myself. The 14 year old version of me who loves things by learning too much and hyperfixates and found solace in wicked for being made to feel "wrong"...only to be made to feel "wrong" for loving that thing as well.
Thank goodness for chances as an adult to reclaim things you loved as a kid
And thank goodness someone finally pushed me to figure out how severe my adhd is/get it treated.
