The Crane Wives Nanowrimo
Okay so I came up with a The Crane Wives themed nanowrimo idea. Keep in mind that I have never taken part in nanowrimo and that I have a very base idea of what it even is
Basically; the prompt for each day would be two of The Crane Wives songs (the order and combinations of which have been randomly generated) and you could either choose one or both to base a short (or longer) story on (I think I’ll try to achieve somewhere between a 400 and 1000 word count each day). You can choose to either name the story by the title of the song, include lyrics as a dialogue or narration or any other part of your story, or just go with the general vibes and come up with a story that doesn’t really incorporate the song(s) at all - the posibilities are endless and entirely up to you as a writer!
The order of the songs would be as follows:
Of Everlong/ Pretty Little Things
Nothing At All/ Allies Or Enemies
I Talk In My Sleep/ Not The Ghost
Down the River/ Keep You Safe
The Glacier House/Strangler Fig
Hard Sell/Take Me To War
Know How/Sleeping Giants
Back To The Ground/ Nobody
New Colors/ Hole In THe Silver Lining
Show Your Fangs/ Never Love An Anchor
Ribs/ Curses
Easier/ Caleb Trask
 Volta/ The Wolf
New Discovery/Empty Page
 Counting Sheep/Can’t Go Back
Hollow Moon/ Queen Of Nothing
Steady, Steady/ Ancient History
Can’t Have It All/ Metaphor
Once And For All/  Naked, THe Night Falls
Turn Out The Lights/ Rockslide
High Horse/ Drown You Out
Icarus/ Taking Turns
Shallow River/ Tongues and Teeth
 Canary In A Coal Mine/ I Ain’t Done
 Diving Bell/ Unraveling
How To Rest/ THe Crooked, THe Cradle
The Hand That Feeds/ Daydreamer
The Moon Will Sing/ The Garden
 Here I Am/ Little Soldiers
 Safe Ship, Harbored/October
(I forgot to include a few songs, including Sowing Seeds and possibly a few newer releases, so if you want you can replace any of the songs on the list with something that is not there.)
If anyone would be up to actually doing this challenge, please let me know and  we could maybe  come up with a tag or maybe tag me on your stories, because I would love to read other people’s stories too!
I will most probably be posting mine either here or on a sideblog.

this is a GREAT idea and i would absolutely do this. i’m not doing nanowrimo because i don’t have the mental strength to write that much in a month, but this idea sounds *lovely*. i’ve been meaning to write stories based on the songs for ages now, and this is a great excuse.
Okay, so I have been thinking.... The Crane Wives themed nanowrimo? Except maybe it's not necessairly a novel but you write a short story based on one of the songs each day? Thoughts?

“Beyond the prow of the packet, the water and the sky are the same ghostly gray, but through the fog I can make out the first signs of the port winking at us - a link of golden lights gilding the invisible coastline like a chain. The waves are rough, and side by side, with out elbows upon the rail, Percy and I keep bumping shoulders. When we strike a rough patch and he nearly loses his footing, I seize the chance to grab him by the hand and haul him upright. I have become a veritable scholar in seemingly innocent ploys to get his skin against mine.”
