I think it might be about time for me to blow this popsicle stand. Permanently. I’ve had a good run.

After 7.5 years, I can honestly say I am pretty over it. During the heyday of 2012-2015, I felt deeply involved with and connected to nearly the entirety of the active runblr community. I made many amazing friends, the majority of whom are still friends with me elsewhere, even after also letting their tumblrs die.

But the glory days are long gone. I don’t feel connected or engaged anymore. Much of that is my fault, taking a year off, spending another 9 months on top of that blogging only about fandoms, not bonding with new people, expecting that the community was going to stay the same when really the old tumblr community (*my* old tumblr community) had basically run its course a few years ago. I am totally okay with this. But coming here is not meaningful for me and hasn’t been for a long time.

I enjoy following the people I follow (all 20 of you! hi!). And I will still be logging my running and posting food and funny stuff and personal stuff and interacting with people on IG and FB, so if any of you want to find me there, you are absolutely more than welcome. I mean it. Please come press the Follow or Add Friend button. I won’t turn ya down:

My dearest Kari:

There aren’t many things I can say to you on your birthday that you don’t already know. But I will say them anyway.

We’ve been friends for 6 years now, but this last year has shown me just how deep our friendship runs. I am continually grateful for that and in awe of it. I never thought I could be as vulnerable with a friend, another woman, the way I am with you. No fear. No shame. Just love and compassion. And it goes both ways.

Your honesty, integrity, and capacity for unconditional love are standards to live by and I am glad we are consciously striving to live those ideals, together. You continue to inspire me, teach me, and challenge me, as the best people should.

You are the one person aside from Steve I know I can count on, no question, for life.

If all of that wasn’t enough, we also get to talk endlessly about food and cooking and running and Marvel. The exciting and the mundane. All the ebbs and all the flows.

And these photos, man... one month to go. Chicago and Michigan, round two (or, more appropriately, take two). I can’t wait.

Oh my dear Kari. Perfect words, as always. You have gone far above and beyond my idea of what I thought a friend could be. We’ve always been something pretty special, but I think this last year proved just how raw we could really allow each other to be. I am deeply grateful for that, and for you.

I am so incredibly grateful for our friendship. Every transparent, honest, don’t pull any punches conversation. Every laugh. Every adventure. It’s rare to find someone you can be completely yourself with and trust with all your thoughts. I’m so glad we found each other and have that.

I get to see you in 106 days!!! I can’t wait to make more memories with you.
