It's interesting that they started with Snake Eater as oppose to either Metal Gear or MGS1. I am certain everyone for the most part assumed if they were to remake any of these games it would have been the latter but they went with a prequel title which thematically kind of makes sense because assuming you haven't played these games before you'll be just as much a vessel for Snake as is the player, whatever you felt, thought, or seen will be just as valid as Snakes; plus it's literally the beginning of the storyline / big boss saga with could serve a good starting point for newcomers. This could even incentivise them to check out the older games not to mention the potential of a volume 2 being bundled with the later titles (Peace Walker, PO, AC1D, as well as MGS4).

When I saw the cutscene of Jon and Ed in mgs1 told via Otacon's perspective. I became curious about it because that one scene stood out among mgs1's cutscenes both in-game and out that i eventually went through a bit of a rabbit hole about the game itself, its legacy, even its own controversies. I did eventually play it via emulation and passed it once and it stuck with me ever since. Love everything about it from its obvious film influence such as lethal weapon, to the soft cyberpunk setting, its references to nasa and space in general and just asking the overall question about humanity and its place beyond the stars.

BUT NONE OF THAT MATTERS BECAUSE KOJIMA WANTED TO BE A DETECTIVE SOLVING MURDERS IN LOS ANGELES HENCE I CONCLUDE THAT IF KOJI DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT WE WOULDN'T HAVE POLICENAUTS!

So I once had this plot idea centered around Jonathan and and a young Eli. It would have had Eli coming to Old Los Angeles as a stowaway living off the streets basically homeless until he meets up with Jon during a routine police patrol. Eli obviously very distrusting of adults especially toward authority figures especially toward Jon who he views as nothing but a pig-cop Jon would sort of adopt Eli under witness protection mind you and unravel a mystery involving his past but along the way Jon begins to see him not just as another client that needed protection, but perhaps a chance at redeeming himself for the children he failed to rescue from a prior case and perhaps from Eli's own perspective a chance to live a life of normalcy without having to watch your back. Throughout his investigation he discovers a sinister government plot that involved organ harvesting and trafficking as well as cloning and it would all culminate into this finale where Eli ultimately had to return to this shadow government that he tried to run away from and Jon despite all odds has to let him go but let's him part with his watch that that he cherished when he was married. He watches them cuff this child as he taken away via helicopter his fate left in uncertainty as Jon watches helplessly haven't not felt this defeated since his time being frozen in space.
