Yes – this is right. It’s okay. This is how it was meant to be. He looks to the sky once more. There is beauty even here, even now, in the darkness at the end of all things. He doesn't want to leave, gods, he isn't ready –  but how lucky he was, to have had the chance to live within this world, to have had the opportunity to save it.  And then he turns the dagger on himself, plunging it into his breastbone with a sickening crack . He cries out, hot pain erupting from his chest, and then drives the dagger deeper, blinding white light coursing outwards into his veins, buzzing, electrified, as the blade pierces the Orb. Stars spot his vision - isn’t it funny, that he should get to see them one last time after all? A wave of dizziness overtakes him when he attempts to draw breath; his head swims, his legs go limp, and he collapses to his knees.  He did it. He actually did it, it's over - he chokes, the acrid taste of blood and bile rising in his throat amidst the relief – and then a flash of blazing fire and power and agony sears through him, a thousand burning suns – and his back arches on its own accord while his whole world goes white.

Fanfic asks #10 & 11 (the pair about tropes)

10: If you could banish a single trope to live at the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen again by any human eyes (or at least your own), which trope would that be?

Honestly, I have a really dumb pet peeve in fics, and that’s where the fic author assumes the reader has no capability to understand morals unless they are explained directly to them in the fic. I’m talking like freeze-frame and then the author explains that the characters had an in-depth discussion about their kink boundaries and safewords earlier, or middle-aged characters who live in A Realm using modern therapy speak to prove that they indeed have a healthy relationship. It just really takes me out of the story.

Already answered, but I’ll pick another one from another fic. This is directly after Argus dies and he meets Ilmater in the afterlife. The “no dialogue tag” thing is something I got inspired by from a fic called “Fallen” by Aliana, and the author uses it during really emotional/intense/dissociative times. I’m using it similarly here, but going for a more otherworldly feel.

AGH. Well I can’t share anything about Argus and Vixe because any of my headcanons with them are just… Canon. Lol. I’ll share my headcanon that Gale’s whole “doesn’t like vegetables” thing is that he doesn’t consider like, onions, tomato sauces, potatoes, etc vegetables. He’s talking about salads and “weirder” vegetables and shit. That’s Wyll’s forte, and Wyll cooks him up a whole delicious veg-forward five course meal that changes his mind completely. XD I like to project. I have a cooking-esque fic planned about this too, lol, but I don’t know if I’ll ever post in here.

I’ll pick this bit from Shame, Love, Joy, the little Bladeweave fic I whipped up a couple days ago. I just love these two paragraphs especially because I think it does a really good job of summing up their relationship and why I love it.

5. Is there a tiny detail in one of your fics that you feel goes tragically unnoticed?

Oh man this is a hard one because I don’t remember most things about the fics I’ve already published, and obviously none of my WIPs have been “noticed” yet. I’ll talk about Supernova, I guess - from the very first scene of it he’s doomed by the narrative. Gale set out to die at the beginning and his fate is written into the fabric of the fic itself, from his dreams to the note to his lies to Wyll. There’s a line in there about him being dead ever since the Orb incident, and while not literally true, it’s true in that the Orb doomed him. There was never a chance of survival for him in this universe and the glimmers of hope he had were fleeting – but they weren’t pointless. The love he felt and the experiences he had weren’t pointless. Life isn’t pointless because someone dies; if anything, the fleetingness of life is what makes it all the more precious.

7. Share a line or paragraph you’ve written that you don’t think will ever actually be posted in anything! (Or, if you don’t hoard cut sentences and passages like I do, share anything you want that has yet to see the light of day!)

Hmm, probably this one from Black Hole, since I have a different “reunion scene” planned instead. It was initially going to be in a dream, but I had a better idea lol.

8. Is there a story idea you have that you would love if it could appear fully realized but that you do not think you’ll ever write yourself?

SO MANY. I have a Black Hole AU where Wyll tries to resurrect Gale and it goes horribly wrong and is kind of a Frankenstein situation where Gale is super unstable and confused and FUCKED UPPPP but A) I need to read Frankenstein and B) That’s a lot of plotting and planning and realistically idk if I’ll ever go there. We’ll see, I guess.

11. Conversely, if you had to pick a single trope to read for the next seven-and-half years, which trope would that be?

Oh you know. Long, drawn out character deaths, especially where the character knows they’re dying and is grappling with it. Executions and mercy-killings are favorite subtropes of mine. Thing is it is so hard to find MCD fics that are A) well-written enough to not set off my Alarms and B) the death doesn’t happen in some throwaway line, for shock value, or off-screen. SORRY ALL MY ANSWERS ARE SO MORBID LOL I’M JUST KIND OF INSANE

20. Is there anything about any one of your fics that you have been dying to discuss but haven’t had the chance to?

ALL THE FICS I’VE BEEN DYING TO DISCUSS ARE WIP FICS. IDK HOW TO ANSWER THIS WITHOUT GIVING BIG SPOILERS. I really want to discuss Black Hole but my brain is shot rn so you’re not getting much out of me today. I LOVE Wyll’s mindset in the whole thing, though, like he really thinks he can just shove the fact that the love of his life told him they would have a bright future together and then killed himself a fucking day later ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE THAT HAPPENED TO HIM into some deep corner of his mind to never be touched again and be FINE. Like this man is coping in levels I never would have thought possible. He’s coping terribly and in ways that will definitely fuck him up more. But at least he can do his work or whatever  : )

A glint of red catches his eye through the smog, and something moves him towards it, something that knows what it will be before he gets there.  A small, rounded corner pokes out beneath the rubble. His heart sinks as he bends to pick it up, brushing off the powdery white dust coating its surface, revealing and swirling red and orange layers he traces with his thumb. The agate– his gift to Gale. He took it with him, then, to the very end. Wyll begins to shake, and he clutches the stone till his knuckles are white, like if he were to clench hard enough, he will wake to crisp air, warm and nestled in Gale’s arms and surrounded by morning dew. Hot tears blur his vision, and a sob catches in his throat, his chest tense and tight like a snake’s wound itself around his lungs. He steadies himself on a large broken column and gasps for air through his sobs.  “Are you all right, mister?” Someone tugs at his shirt, and Wyll freezes. He wipes the tears from his eyes, and the pain slithers back into the recesses of his mind as he pockets the stone. A girl, about seven, stares wide-eyed at him. “Oh, you know how it is,” he says, slapping a particularly large bit of crumbling masonry. “I can’t lift this all by myself, so I was really straining quite hard! Luckily, you came along.” Wyll smiles, and pats the girl on the head.  “Yes! I’m very strong!” She flexes an arm and slaps her muscle. Then she lifts a bit of rubble about the size of her head, and throws it about a half-metre away.  “Woah, look at that– you are strong! Can you help me?”

Uhhh 28 on Ao3 and probably 3 or 4 anonymous or orphaned works, I’m not sure

What’s your total ao3 word count?

114,451 + whatever’s anon/orphaned. The bulk of it comes from DBAYAD lol, lately I’m averaging less than 3-5 fics a year… 

What are your top five fics by kudos?

Sigh, they’re ALL Marvel fics.

Ummm BG3 and I’m working on a fic for Argus and Vixe (my pre-BG3 DnD OCs). So technically just DnD. Or just BG3. Depending on how you look at it.

Always, unless Ao3 doesn’t notify me, in which case I respond in shame 4 years later 

What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Uhhhh I pretty much exclusively write angst, deathfic, etc but maybe a river of boiling blood and fire, the Caleb Widogast Self Immolation Fic because it’s just so fucking grisly and he dies for such pointless reasons. Though my Argus and Vixe one will top it for sure :D

Not really but I once had someone correct the science in my crack porn fic Hard Times. Oh and someone posted it in a Discord server with Andy Weir in it and then I fucking died the end

Once in a blue moon. It’s usually crack, as mentioned above. There’s Another Gale x Tentacles fic by me out there but no one gets to see it. Shoo.

I have one million WIPs and starting the process of writing is evil to me because motivation is HARD. I also hate describing scenery and action!!! And also writing characters in-depth who aren’t “sad nerds” lol

Do what you want but if you want it to be good by GOD get a beta reader who’s fluent

Harry Potter or Doctor Who, can’t remember which was the first but they were both deathfics bc I never change 👍

Uhh hm. Supernova is very close to my heart but Crystals, Lace, and Spider-silk (the vivisection fic <3) is probably objectively the best. In terms of most FUN to write, definitely “Gale and tav have tentacel sex”.
