I really don't want to come off as an asshole because I don't think bullying people truly changes hearts and minds but we have got to make it socially unacceptable to parrot the "why the fuck does this ethically made screen-printed t-shirt from a small artist cost $40" shit. That's what things cost to make, I'm sorry. I am not a fan of inflation or low wages either but things that have multiple people working on them and needing to make a living through their sale that are less than $30-$50 these days are not being made ethically. Just in general. Doesn't matter what it is. T shirt. Tote bag. Phone case. Perfume. Whatever. This really isn't rocket science and the clouded perception people seem to have about this topic when it comes to apparel is bad. It is goofy. It is lame. If you want to pay less than that, thrifting, DIY clothing, and other things are options. In fact, DIY is a great option! I would love anyone who complains about $40 ethically made t-shirts to try making a t-shirt for less than $40. Many people do this, but they do it by becoming talented artisans in their own right, and I think if you were to gain those skills and then tried to make a living off them, you would also ask for $40. It is not the punk cool indie DIY serve you think it is to complain about this shit. There are ways to complain about the core topics without actually complaining about the price point. Chill on that stuff and save the complaining for massive artists who churn out shirts at fast fashion speeds, or just complain about fast fashion, or whatever.

dance fever is just such a great fucking album man. "you say that rock and roll is dead, but is that just because it has not been resurrected in your image?" is still one of my favourite lyrics of all time. 'king' flummoxes me every time i listen to it. it's got myth vs realism. deification and iconoclasm. art as communal experience, as identity, as the lines between individual healing, catharsis, and destruction. #depression, self-sabotage, nostalgia. madonna-whore complex mockery. "it's good to be alive, crying into cereal at midnight" "when i decided to wage holy war, it looked very much like staring at my bedroom floor" it's got humour. "what a thing to admit, that when someone looks at me with real love, i don't like it very much. kinda makes me feel like i'm being crushed." !! there's a whole song where the chorus is just the word daffodil over and over again and it's a banger.

also there was a real gap in the market for an album based around a 14th century european mass hysterical dancing epidemic so i'm glad that got filled.

big fan of being able to go back in a reblog chain and rb a version of a post without the additional comments you don't find funny. but it also feels like lowkey snubbing the person who put it on your dash. like sorry boss im trimming the fat here. your tastes are not quite good enough. die.
