The laugh that escapes his lips is a hollow one; a good match for the way he feels at the moment, Riku thinks dryly. Perhaps his reaction had been a bit uncalled for, and yet, very unsurprising. Of course, he’s always doomed to make the same mistakes, right?

“No. It wasn’t.” A bitter smile creeps over his expression, gaze narrowing at the replica in front of him. “But you know what? I wouldn’t change a thing.”

“Not that I’d expect you to understand.”

He tries to follow her advice but everything hurts- he can’t even feel the pressure on his wound, nor the pain; it’s just numb. The light still stings, even now, after they’ve retreated away from the threat. The room is white and blaring and oh how he wishes the darkness would consume him right now.

"Maybe... Maybe I’m not strong enough.”

“Namine, please-” He winces as the wisps of darkness rise from his shadow, watches with bleary sight as it reaches higher as if to consume him. “Just erase it all.”
