ngl I was out here thinking that Brian had a guest bedroom or something with a space bed and a wall of amps, so it’s nice that we have context now

will forever amuse me that the beautiful, romantic, heartbreaking, song written in first person about Freddie being sad about his break up with Joe Fanelli was written by *checks notes* Brian May

Thanks Gary Taylor for sharing and link on the previous post. My note - first half of the first sheet looks a lot more like Roger's hand.
Single A4 page from notebook containing draft, and near complete lyrics for ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ on one side and ‘A Kind of Magic’ on the reverse. These lyrics were handwritten by Freddie, when recording the tracks in Mountain Studios, during late 1985 and January 1986. There are slight differences in the wording of some lyrics, as the tracks were taking shape during the recording process. The writing is in black ink and on an A4 page torn from a notepad.
The lyrics for ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ have been on display in the 'Queen Studio Experience' museum since it opened in 2013. Incredibly, nobody has ever seen the lyrics for ‘A Kind of Magic’ on the reverse side of ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’. This is the first time they are on public display.
Provenance: Freddie's handwritten lyrics have been consigned by the estate of David Richards directly from the Mountain Studios archive and the Queen Studio Experience museum in Montreux, Switzerland where they were on display.

Oh this is making me unwell
youtube
The very friendly banter at the beginning and the end—Brian going, “It’s you, Bulsara!” and Freddie calling him “Brizee”…At the end, Roger joking that he didn’t think Freddie noticed he fucked up and Brian immediately jumping in, “I noticed!”……..The soft laughter from them all 🔪
I’m remembering an interview with Brian in 1991, before Freddie’s death and after they finished Innuendo. He said it was the best album they’d made in a while because they didn’t argue while making it. And they argued a lot because they were perfectionists, four artists trying to paint on the same canvas, but that comment from Brian suggests just how much he actually hated when they fought and didn’t get along.
So I can imagine this old man, who keeps fan art of the four of them when they were young framed in his house, becoming emotional while listening to them laughing and joking during the making of their very first album, is what I’m saying

Sometimes YouTube on my TV will just have the wrong video title and I was so confused but intrigued when I saw an hour long White Queen on the official YouTube channel, like woah Brian went off??? Turns out it was just a compilation of ballads 😔

"I think the I Want To Break Free video was a success due to its comic element. This is a farce. I can't imagine another video where the four main characters would act out a real comedy with dressing up, like here. Queen often looks very serious, whereas in fact there is a lot of irony in us that people sometimes don't notice."
Freddie Mercury.
