Alma takes the stage (II)

After a bit of a search, staying in three different motels downtown Del Sol Valley, Alma has finally found a humble abode (which she can barely pay). She’s determined to succeed and take the reigns of her life, and she’s not gonna let no mouse or spider or even wall crack get in her way.

Also, suspiciously, her talent agency has found this house for her and her backyard is filled with props from failed movies and shows...

Alma takes the stage (I)

It’s almost Alma’s 18th birthday and her life has been a series of constant changes: she quit the scouts to join the drama club in school, she has gotten better grades, still dating Sierra, and holding on the little Scarlett while her parents are at work.

Alma dreams of a new beginning; Brindleton Bay is too little of a town for a girl with such big dreams, and nowadays, if you wanna make it, you need to go to the big city. But where? San Myshuno is for the artists and the fashionistas, SimCity is for the bigwallets and the wanna-be bigwallets. Alma wants, Alma needs to be a star. 

She browses the internet looking for an answer and finds a vacant audition for a minor role at an independent play in Del Sol Valley. Maybe that’s it. Maybe this is the answer. 

Wait... I need to open my piggy bank and see if I have enough money to go there. Go big or go home, they say.

And so she went.

Well, I think, I think, Nixon has gotten into some kind of curse. I can’t wait for my mother to see him at Héctor’s wedding... Ridiculous.

I found the entrances! After a hard night spent deciphering some artefacts, and getting soaked in river water, Nixon and I decided to enter the temple. He explored all of the remains, calculated temperatures, measurements, etc. I went for it. And I probably almost died.

I will report whenever I find something of interest!

¡Hola! from Selvadorada (III)

We found the temple!

I can’t believe it! after only three days of being here, we’ve already found the famous temple of the Selvadoradian jungle. It doesn’t look that big, but I bet there’s many hidden passages and floors. 

Today, we’ve packed most of our stuff from the central campsite and moved it up here. I think we’re gonna take a couple of days in the temple since there are many things to explore. Nixon is now marking all the excavation sites he can find, and I’ll be dusting off some other artefacts from yesterday. Luckily there is a source of water nearby so we’ll take a bath before going to sleep.

Mom has called again, but service isn’t this good. She said Alma is getting a bit rebellious, and my brother wants me back way before the wedding so I can help him out. I bet this is going to be a very elaborate wedding.

¡Hola! from Selvadorada (II)

We found the plane crash site!

Years ago, when I came here as an archaeology freshman from the Liberal Arts Academy, an old woman at Plaza Central told me that a plane crashed into the Jungle when she was little and that a burning man came all the way from that spot until the Plaza and collapsed into ashes afterwards.  I, of course, was sceptical. Why would I believe her? Later that day, a man her age told the same story, and year after year I kept hearing it until... I found the plane! 

It appears no one has been here for years, although I sense that something has happened. Nixon is way too focused on discovering new treasures, and he doesn’t really care about curses or ancient lore. I’ll leave him doing the physical work.

This has been a long day, I’ll head back to my table and work on some of the artefacts Nixon has found. He’ll be cooking some more fish. perhaps tomorrow I’ll head to the Central Market before hitting the Jungle. I’m tired of fish, I want some avocados.

¡Hola! from Selvadorada (I)

First trip to Selvadorada as adults!

Now that we live together, Nixon and I have decided to take over the Jungle and conquer every part of it. Our first trip to Selvadorada is a special one, it has to be! While we were getting settled at the camping site, we received a call from mom announcing Héctor and Pierce’s engagement! They’re getting married next autumn and then they’ll move back in with mom and Rosa to help mom with the vet clinic. Hopefully, they will also instil some sense into Alma, this girl is gonna get lost if no one stops her.

Anyway! Off to a good start, right? Our first day there was magnificent, as it was Selvadorada’s National Day. We got dressed, danced to some Latin music, and had a couple of Espuma Agria and bollitos while under a very flaming hot sun. I think Nixon wants to grill some fish.

Off to eat now, tomorrow we’ll start investigating.
