joe contacting booker and nicky being upset about it is so incredibly in character im sorry like joe’s a hothead who has emotional reactions in the moment and nicky’s an emotionally reserved sniper who is used to waiting things out of course his rage took longer to manifest and joe’s had already fizzled out

The best detail in The Old Guard is that every single time one of them "dies" briefly, they all wait with their breath held to find out if that person is going to wake back up. They're constantly worried that the last time they woke up will be the last time they ever wake back up, the last time their friends wake back up. Choosing to add that, with such clear intention by the actors and the director, not only increases the stakes, because you know it might happen just like they know, but also gives the story such an emotional punch. Its not guaranteed, life is not guaranteed even to the immortal ones. Every breath is precious even when they've been infinite.
