                                           Letter of Intention

      I need to quickly present myself before entering the subject. Firstly, I won 

the department of teaching programs at Ted University in 2014. Actually, I did 

not have much information about this university and its departments. I 

learned this school had lots of advantages thanks to my research. Since there 

are 3 departments under the faculty of education and the school offers a 

hundred percent of English education for their students. Other advantage is 

that you can prefer the this university without the necessity of choosing a 

department in your university preferences like other universities. I think that it 

is a great opportunity for us because when selecting a partition, a decision 

that will affect the lives of people in a lifetime. The students are forced to make 

choice without being sure. Subsequently of wrong choices is that the success 

of the students aswell as their career life in the future  is adversely affected 

and woefully. Therefore, the students of Ted University have a great 

concession about preference of department. I would like to explain this 

in detail. For instance, the faculty of education has 3 sections. There are 

preschool education, psychological and guidance counseling and 

primary school education. The students of the faculty of education decide 

when they pass 2nd grade level. This means that students choose when they 

have enough knowledge about their departments. Moreover, various seminars 

and conferences are organized to introduce each department to the 

students through education faculty teachers. Even, guest speakers came to 

our school and shared their own experiences at the professional level. They 

told us about education life and experiences and her job, job opportunities and 

wrong things that we know right about deprtments and professions. 

Furthermore, they tried to explain something that wonders us about 

departments. Thanks to these facilities, we are getting to know the 

departments better. I  believed that I write this letter for PDR . However, I 

changed my mind thanks to the last seminar. Because, preschool was more 

appealing to me. Therefore, I want to write this letter for preschool teacher. I 

can learn different information about preschool teacher. And, I can be more 

stable for my decision.  As a result of my research and introductions of 

departments, I would like to choose preschool teacher.

        In fact, I was not thinking about this department while I was preparing for 

the university entrance exam because I wanted to be an administrator at the 

air��port. However, when I visited Ted University , I wanted this university for 

lots of advantages such as choosing departments and  language. After, I 

 started this university and I started to inquiry my appropriate qualifications 

about  this job. I think I have necessary qualifications for profession because 

the most important thing in this profession is patience and to love kids. If a 

person does not have these characteristic features, s/he can not succeed in 

this profession. In addition, s/he, who  need to be active in class and 

should establish strong bonds with kids. Generally, I am active in my life and 

my relationship is great with kids. Also, I love spending time with children. 

What’s more, I feel that this job reflects me. Thus, I can develop my aims such 

as being happy or being cheerful in life. Because, in kindergarten, I should 

be positive and I have to show  my love. So that individuals who finish 

this department gain awareness of the events. As indiviuals who study 

preschool department should have the ability to communicate. Moreover, if I 

choose PDR , I will solve students’ problems such as family, relationship 

and adolescence. Also , I have to communicate with their families and 

friends. Because their problems are bigest than kindergarten children’s 

problems. Guidance counselors are like a helper. They usually try to help 

students for their life. Thus, if s/he doesn’t like helping , s/he would not be 

successful. Moreover, guidance counselor should be constructor because 

when students have some problems , they will be fragile. So, if s/he breaks 

students’ trust, students will closes into. This situation impacts on students’ 

emotions quickly. Thus, they can have trust issues in their life.  Nevertheless, if 

I choose pre-school teacher , I just solve the problem of  toy sharing , eating 

foods and going to the toilet. In addition, kids are like a gel because they are 

break due to her/his words or actions but their emotions are changing quickly 

and  s/he wins their hearts in time.  Therefore, their problems are solved by 

talking and supporting. I believe that my communication and my supporting is 

sufficient for solving kids’ problems. In addition, when I solved Holland’s 

Occupational Themes Test , my highest score is being social and artistic 

person. These are important features for preschool teacher. This test shows 

that my chosen interest areas such as childcare workers , special education 

teachers and kindergarten – elemantary school teacher. I know that this job is 

my job.

     The another main point is  job opportunities because preschool 

department has a lot of advantages for finding job. For example, if I am pre-

school teacher, I will study different areas such as kindergarten , açev and 

nursery. Also, I have the opportunity to work in children’s publishing and toy 

desing. In a word, if any place has some children, this place provides job 

opportunities for me. Preschool teacher is developing day by day in Turkey 

because,  most woman, who has a job and demand preschools. Furthermore, 

if I don’t want these places for studying , I have a chance to open my own 

creche. Consequently, if I choose preschool teacher , these situations make 

me advantageous. On the other hand, when people graduated from 

department of psychological and guidance counseling , they will be consultant 

in state or private schools. These are not a doctor and they can not prescribe 

people. They, who can only give support and can prevent the problems. Also, 

they can work in guidance and research and rehabilitation centres. Some 

people want to work in the ministry of family and social policy and the ministry 

of justice. However, they have at least 7 years work experiences. They can 

solve big problems such as harassment and custody  in there. İf you are calm 

for these problems , you will be psychological counselor. But , I don’t be calm 

for these problems and I can not stop my emotions in court. Therefore, I want 

to be guiding and super hero for kids.

      Another significant point is mission of preschool teacher. I want to explain 

this topic. For instance, the mission of preschool teacher is to prepare kids 

for school’s life , their own life. In addition, the role of preschool teacher is 

to teach how to communicate with others , how to cope with the problem 

and how to improve their skills. Thus, preschool teacher have to be lode star 

for children’s lifes. You create infrastructure for children so you discover 

their abilities. I think that it is a great feeling because they don’t know their 

skills but you can uncover their abilities. When they explore themselves , you 

will support them. if you want to take a role in a child’s life , you will choose this 

job. I think that being a beacon for children is efficient and this job is suitable 

for me. Moreover, Elif Hoca said that kids imitate you such as your speech, 

your walking and your looking. Also, they see you as a princess or super hero. 

I liked this feeling and I asked myself why I didn’t think it. However, if I 

choose pdr , I will be a helper in school. When students have some problems , 

they will come my room. After, they share their feelings or situations and I 

should be helpful. May be, I can not solve their problems and I would 

recommend they to go to a psychologist because their problems are important 

like harassment. Therefore, I have to communicate with their families and 

friends for solving the problem. In short , I am a problem solver for students in 

school but I am not this. Because, these problems impacts on my emotions 

easily. I just want to deal with little kids’ problems.

      In conclusion, I believe that preschool teacher is better for me. When I 

am a preschool teacher , I will be super hero or princess for kids in a class. 

This situation makes me feel awesome. Also, I’m waiting for the day when I 

meet with the children because I really wonder what would happen. 

Consequently, I will choose preschool teacher because I want to be together 

with little kids and I need to spend time with them. In addition, I want to teach 

them everything and I want to be perfect role-model for them. I hope 

everything works out. :)

Do you remember my lesson plan ? Yeap , I and my friends did group activities for lesson plan. Buket, Burak, Alptuğ, Ayşe and me prepared a video. We choose Burak’s lesson plan. I want to give some details about it. In video, Burak was a teacher and others were students. Burak, who told subjects and gaved some materials. After we produced a video. I went back to Ted Ankara College but I visited kindergarten. This experience showed that my decision is really true because children makes feel perfect. Also they gave me a positive impression. A girl drew this picture to me and this feeling was awesome. :))

Merve , İrem and me were in the same group. Our hat was Green Hat. 

Green Hat : Creative , seeks alternatives. The green hat is where you can develop creative solutions to a problem. It is a freewheeling way of thinking, in which there is little criticism of ideas. 

Our Ideas / Solutions : 

- Students in TEDU and other countries can change their schools in one term and continue / develop their projects. 

- Students join english drama session to develop their native language and lectures. 

- Special time to just speak english in school.

The main benefits of the Six Thinking Hats method are the following :

The Six Thinking Hats tool is a powerful technique used to look decisions from different points of view. This help us move away from habitual thinking styles and towards a more rounded view of a situation. 

There are six different imaginary hats that you can put on or take off. Each hat is a different colour and represents a different style of thinking.

We learned questioning methods thanks to the drama. After, we created some drama with blooms taxonomy. Therefore, we know questioning method :)

In this lesson, they prepared poster for meeting. They wrote his age , job and etc. The students will understand the main idea of  his poems, the students will use different materials , symbols and colors for showing their feelings.

The class was Turkish. Thesubject of the course was Ataol Behramoğlu’s life, features and poems. Because, he will come to their school. Therefore, the teacher wanted to introduce him.

We went to Ted Ankara College Private High School for field trip. We observed a lesson in primary school. Then we wrote a report about the lesson, teaching techniques, goals and objectives.

We tried to make a lesson plan in this course. Firsly, we discussed that how to write lesson plan. And then, Elif hoca gave paper and we tried to answer the questions on the paper. We dreamed about our future lesson plans. For example, who are your student ? , what is your topic ? , and what are your obtective and goal in this lesson ?. I think it is a perfect activity because this activity makes me realistic. Also, I am aware of my responsibilities thanks to it. :)

We have some presentations about theories. We preffered behaviorism. I want to give some information about this theory. Behaviorism is the most influential and generalizable theory of learning that claims a scientific basis. Behaviorist define learning as a relatively permanent change in behavior as the result of experience. This change in behavior is always observable. I hope this information would be useful for you :)
